Fapp

-1gp I lost fair and sqaure

The halfling sighs and slides a gp over to Osen. "all's well that ends well. Wait till big guy is more practiced he may win me back some more coin,"

and laughs good heartedly.

He waits for Knatchbull and continues encouraging his friend.

The Brazen Strumpet Tavern

Osen pockets the coin. Knatchbull as requested, lunches the champ, GBH across the jaw with his good hand. The other nursing a clean break. Mayhem would ensue around the table but the pushing and shoving is soon calmed by some locals who break up the mercenary gang surrounding Knatchbull.

Comments of "always trouble that lot ... penal scum most of them ... nah, that butcher fellow just a sore loser ... young boyz can't handle the ale, give them lemonade ..."

Merda comes along to whip the rowdy crowd into shape, kicking a couple into the verandah by grabbing them by the scruff of the necks like they were kittens and marching them out. She comes to Fapp and Knatchbull. "No good ever comes socialising with them. Better let me see that. Ooh, don't look good. Won't be swinging a sword with that arm unless it gets seen too. Go on, off you go. St Ygg's is ever open just for such as this." she ushers the pair of you to the tavern door and points the way to the church vestry.

I will conclude here unless you have any more questions and open your expedition thread.

I don't mind continuing here it is fun! PLus we get to go get healing and then come back to sleep in our beds.

Fapp

Smiling devilishly at Merda, Fapp nods. "We shall return later to sleep in our room. Perhaps we will see you then? And thank you kindly for

clearing out the trouble makers, we appreciate your help, my dear."

Turning to Knatchbull he nods at the door. "Shall we find you some healing at St Ygg's, big guy?"

"Oh no. Your room is so common. Shared with at least a quartet of other snorers and blanket farters. Besides Ollis may come by and tell me all the fancy happenings at the manse. Especially now those squire lads returned and his Lordship seems to have befitted himself out with some honorific emblem. I do hope one day he'll bring me a nice ring. Gold, thick and heavy
with some nice sparklies. Decorate my finger rather nice don't you think?"
she adeptly swerves your interest.

She points to the verandah and the dancing imbecile Alastar. "Those mercenaries come and go each season. Traipsing the Moor. Then some go but don't come back at all or some come back but not all there.

I heard he has a stash of gold rings and gold teeth. Taken from the dead. Don't want one of those rings.

Diamond one, sparkly, girls love those."

After the evening soirée and arm wrestling and fisticuffs, Fapp & Knatchbull go to get healed up by the town clerics and return to their tavern rooms much later. By then the Mercenary Guild crew are gone and the bardic entertainment over.

I will move you next actions to the expedition thread.

The Strumpet is full so Eldon takes a seat at the bar. "I wasn't sure I was going to make it in time for the festival!" he says to Bollo.

The Brazen Strumpet Tavern

"Well my young master, it is good that you did. Plenty of hijinks and community fayres going in culminating in a town procession to the Statue of Herne and grove outside town tonight. Be fireworks and barbeque, probably from fresh meat caught by the hunters.

Put your name down for a try at a trophy. Who knows lady luck my smile upon you?"

Bollo the barkeep is an old time adventurer, used to the 'meet & greet' of tavern newcomers. He is welcoming and friendly, especially towards those who have coin.

"Staying long? Shops are all closed today. So tavern is full as you can see. Busy last night with the bard entertaining for the squires feast and some rough-housing between the guildsmen.

Village might be quieter for a few days then next wave of adventurers will surely storm back in with tales of derring-do and artefacts to show off."

Eldon is served at the bar.

Brazen Strumpet Tavern.
May 5th, 2066

Eldon takes his place at a table for a midday meal. He has arrived in Helix a few days ago and hung around after the Herne Mayday festival, intrigued by the rumors and mysteries of the Barrow Moor.

He has taken a common room for a week, paying his lodging fees in advance and for keeping Sarge in the stable kennels. A few extra beers each day whets the appetite as he considers what adventures lie ahead. -4gp

Returning to the tavern and his room after the Rangers expedition,

April 30th - May 4th.

Vann Hector pays to stay in his private suite, all inclusive for a few days so that he may recuperate his health and deal with consequences of his expedition.

May 5th.

Restless and ready for a new challenge, the elf dressed in new armour and fine raiments, sits in the tavern gathering and spreading the latest gossip and Barrow Moor rumours.

-7gp to cover upkeep and stabling for the five days.

The Brazen Strumpet Tavern

May 5th 1066.
"Hi Bollo, can I get an ale and mixed grill? Any news?"
. Bollo whistles into the kitchen area and suddenly an aroma of fiery steaks, lean succulent ribs, brazed livers and streaky bacon is being cooked, served with garnishes of sun ripened tomatoes, bell peppers and lettuce from the kitchen gardens. "you get the snail crawling on the leaf for free." Merda, one of the serving wenches says as she brings Orgoth the full platter.

As ever she is always interested in adventurers news and dallies enough to catch a few snippets of your most recent adventure.

Also in the tavern is a halfling newcomer to the village whose dog, a huge mastiff which slobbers from jowl full cheeks, looks greedily at a bone or two on your plate. (Eldon).

There is also an elf who you may vaguely remember trying to enroll you in an escapade chatting to the two morose figures who had lost their friend in the Barrow Mounds. He is dressed in a rather flash crimson silk blouson under his leather jerkin. (Vann Hector).

Alastar the village idiot is on the verandah, lapping water from the doggy bowls. He taps on the window every now and then to bark at Sarge the mastiff.

There are a few village patrons present, millers and farmers mostly and merchants trading with the Silver Standard.

"News? Not much changed since your last visit. Some poor news coming from the logging camp in the Blackened Forest and murderous bandits on the road near Ironguard.

Carp fishermen operating the southern pools speak of large critters raiding the stocks. Creatures from the Moor I expect, getting bolder each season and closer to the village. Now if you lot stopped going to raid the dead, then the dead wouldn't raid here would they. But then, what sort of trade would I have?

One fellow came in day before yesterday saying he had drunk from a gilded grail which gave him his youth back after digging a Barrow mound open. Seemed to cherish his once forgotten vigour. He was a regular here once upon a time but now he feels 'like a new man', he can't keep out of the Foul Pheasant."

There are a few other characters about in town as well.

Gerdal nods at Alastar as she enters the Strumpet. Entering, she smiles warmly at Sarge.

"Are you a good boy, yes you are, yes you are."

She sits down with Orgoth to hear about his visit to the temple. Orgoth, please see expedition thread

"The stew and some honey mead, please. Also, I'd like to pay for another three days of stabling for my mule. Plans are uncertain at this point, but aren't they always?" she smiles at Bollo.

deducted coin for food, drink and stabling

He dangles 5gp in front of the barkeep.

Bollo

"Funny you should ask. We have undergone a bit of a refurb during your absence and upgraded some of the facilities. These are the new Deluxe models."
12sp - per person cost) twin room of two single divan beds. (Six rooms on first floor). Inclusive of breakfast and evening stew and accompanying ale. Common bathrooms and toilets in corridor.
check out the 1st page amendments to future prices.

"I presume you mean such rooms, the 'premier standard' is rather nicer of course but only has a wooden four poster. But I can do a deal for last season's prices for sure."

He takes the 5gp and hands you a key.

Sven approaches the tavern dressed up in his new tidy white leather trench coat with his pet wolf at his side. He addresses the beggar outside before entering.

“Oh, hey Al. How you been, man? Still hearing all those barrowmaze voices in your head! Whispering? Screaming? Ya, I feel your pain. I have started rummaging around down there myself recently, and I think I know what you’re going through. So instead of barking at my wolf and tossing your fecal matter at us, why don’t you try treating us as equals? Since I will probably end up just like you someday, right? Hey! If you have any unfinished business down there anywhere, let me know. Maybe I can take care of an errand for you on my next visit in a couple days.”

Once inside the tavern, he shouts. “Before anyone else asks…..No! I am NOT a damn dentist!”

He is confused when he realizes that he just lost his old roommate. He looks at Orgoth and then to Gerdal. “You two got something going on that I should know about?” He smiles but doesn’t press the issue.

Isvand enters the building and cheerfully asks if any of his companions would like to share a twin room. If any takers, he'll pay his 3GP in advance. If no takers, he'll spring for a private room - I think it comes to just under 8 GP. A little embarrassed, he states to his companions, I should really get some chain mail if I'm going to keep traveling with you - which I really want to do! But, until we convert some of this stuff to coin, I'm a little - completely short of the funds to do so, once I pay for my room and add a second quiver full of arrows! Could I borrow 75 GP? I'll gladly repay you Tuesday!

Once his room is secure, Isvand will have an ale and a meal, and head off to help sell our loot.

Isvand thinks for a bit and then addresses Sven Do I recall correctly that you have some chain mail from a dwarf? Could I buy it from you at a fair price to be deducted from my share of the coin?
