Since the consensus seems to be resting in the trees rather than pressing forward, I'll probably press forward with a brief update tonight, even though I'm sure some of us are getting in a last summer partying fix and ignoring more pressing priorities, like gaming...

Thanks. A bit more 4e-ish than I'd like, but its hard finding a white-haired elf per your description that is not Drow. :)

Some Elric pics would probably suit fine as well.

Actually, you're Thurinor's third player, Grog. I took over after Sheldomar left the game. I don't think I changed really anything. :D

To facilitate discussion, so far I see the following suggestions:

Lay ambush/Watch door:
  • Ozborn
Surprise/Burst through the door:
  • Andrin
    Thurinor
Pretend to be a goblin to get them to open the door:
  • Thurinor
Curious noise to draw them out and ambush:
  • Malone
    Swilbosh
OK with whatever plan and casting Bless whenever IT happens:
  • Stonjuz

Did I miss anything? I don't want to push ahead as there isn't enough consensus. The main question seems to be whether to push your way inside or to lure them out. Quick vote OOC between those two options and then come up with final details of a plan from there? 8-)

Does the door look like it could be burst open with ease by us?If not that option could leave us exposed.

From the action thread:
The door, he can now see, is a heavy iron-bound thing with a rusty iron ring for a pull; the door looks ponderous to open.
I just realized I goofed this up. It's supposed to be a stone door, as described earlier:
However, as the party draws closer to the cliff, all can clearly see steps leading up the cliff face to a shut stone door.
You can imagine that such a door would block most if not all sound, but let's just say that there has been enough weathering that the normally tightly fitted dwarven stonework is worse for wear, the thief and elf have good ears, and the conversation they overheard was not at all quiet.

So, this is a stone door, it looks ponderous to open, and "bursting" it open does not look possible at all. I should add that it opens inward, in case anyone wondered about that.

So it seems our best alternatives, if Oz cannot open it, are luring them out or waiting to see what happens.

What do you guys think?

Yes, I wouldn't think a stone door could be forced open without giant strength. Watch for an hour for it to open, then charge in. Otherwise draw out by noise and/or goblin talk?

I am still in favour of lure them out , bash it or them, then rush in through the open door.

Perhaps it's not even locked. Our thief should at least try and open it a little bit to verify this.

Malone looks around. Uh,that makes sense, too. And probably a bit easier. Lets just be ready in case not.

Hi all, round 1 results have been changed to reflect Og's superior skill at slaying poor, nearly defenseless goblins. Something about their similarity to giants, but I don't know...

The next update is in the works, but I'll wait for Saalaria's Swilbosh the Fearsome Lizard King until at least tomorrow night. ;)

And OnlyMe, do you want to roll a bow attack for Malone? Or shall I do it if needed? 8-)

Hey all, my grandfather has been in the hospital and he got really bad over the weekend, the main reason for my failing to post sooner even though I had all your actions. I leave for Massachusetts about 3am Thursday morning, so it may be an iffy thing for you to see another update from me this week. I'll check in when I can to keep from stalling the other games I'm in as a player, but another combat update may not be in the cards until Tuesday/Wednesday. Fyi... 8-)

That's one vicious hob, ain't he?
