Sorry Ahlm and BH, but it's been 4 days here. I cant keep Keyon in suspense any longer.

The Horror Escapes?
Starday, 27th of Goodmonth
Early Afternoon, Sunny, Hot, Breezy

TK peers through the hole in the floor, spotting the motionless figure of an old man in robes sitting in a chair with a long box resting across his lap. He sees someone who looks a lot like Keyon quietly pick something out of the box.

The hatch lifters see a bright light shining up from below and then hear a shout from their friend Keyon, also from below. "Close the door!" With the cold draft wafting up from the half open hatch, something else suddenly appears in the opening as well. Something horrible.

Information for Paladin ONLY please!!!
Keyon shakes off the mind numbing effects of his first pick from the box, ( :? permanent loss of 1 point of INT) before he mindlessly moves forward and draws out a second plaque.

When he isn't crippled by any more unpleasant bodily effects, he understands that this choice has worked out much better for him than the last. He shouts out to the others, trying to warn them of the approaching doom, before leaping onto the Chariot symbol in the corner of the room. See private thread for card results.

"Feanol, did you get to see Keyon down there?"
Feanol

"No Gnodric chocked me, and that spirit as well, and I passed out. Then I woke up up here."

Sensing the approach of the creature below, Feanol gathers her strength and dashes out into the sunlight.

Elnaerel

The elven cleric is about to close the door at once when the horrible thing appears. Then, she runs out of the tower.

To everyone: RUN. NOW.

The Knife

The Knife sees his companions panicking and running outside. Having already heard about the terrible undead below, he doesn't bother to wait around either and runs out as fast as he can.

Darklin

Takes off outside into the light out of the tower. Hoping the light of Day will destroy the Undead thing. Knowing he has nothing that will hurt it but a minor spell. He runs away to fight another day.

Keyon

The moment Keyon bursts into the room, the gem still gripped tightly in his hands, he aims the brilliant object at Assamuk in an attempt to drive him back into his former prison. "Back!" He shouts, whether to his friends or the apparition no one knows. If it has the desired effect, he will advance until the beast is gone back into hiding.

But if Assamuk comes within ten feet of him and seems intent on braving the gem's light, he will beat a tactical retreat with the others.

The Horror At Large
Starday, 27th of Goodmonth
Early Afternoon, Sunny, Hot, Breezy

Feanol sees the monster that just tried to kill her emerging from below, causing her to flee out into the open, despite her nearly dead health status. Elnaerel sees the horrible visage and drops the rope in her hands, also running out into the light of day behind her elven kin. TK watches the exodus and follows suit, running out of the tower just as fast as his little legs will carry him.

Darklin starts to lose his grip on the rope holding the hatch open. He looks at Keg, who's eyes bulge after seeing the specter for the first time. Both of them drop the rope as the monster floats above the opening. The hatch crashes back down into the floor with a loud crack and Assamuck reaches out to give Keg a welcome hug. (another character spared due to my crappy rolling :x )

When Keg and Darklin turn around to flee out into the sunlight themselves, Keyon suddenly appears in the room. Instead of the box of plaques, you can see that the elf sailor is carrying something else under his arm. It appears to be a finely crafted and incredibly decorative rug, about 6 feet wide and rolled up tightly. As soon as he appears, Keyon points the light from his brilliant gem at the spectre again, soliciting another hiss and growl from the undead beast. Hiding its face from the light, Assamuk backs away towards the inside wall of the circular tower.

Let me have a Hard INT check from TK, Feanol, and Elnaerel since they are outdoors again.

Keyon

If anyone is outside the tower and can't hear/see what I'm doing, I'll put this in a spoiler. If they can, disregard and read, I suppose!
"Begone!" Keyon forces Assamuk back with the blinding gem, then flicks the carpet to unroll it and kneels aboard it. He speaks the secret command word. Then: "Arise...remain here," he commands softly with a glance toward his fleeing companions, then back to Assamuk. "Upon my command, fly out the open door and stop near my companions on the outside."

Keyon falls silent and observes the apparition for a long moment. Finally, he clears his throat. "I would have speech with you, old one," he calls out. "Will you indulge me?" Keyon holds the gem aloft as a silent threat against his adversary.

"What is this place? Tell me of the tower and the secrets it contains. These glyphs upon the floor. Your banishment here. I seek knowledge of things forgotten. Enlighten me, and I will leave you in peace." He tilts his head to one side and examines Assamuk with a curious eye.

"It must be lonely here. Perhaps I could bring you a suitable companion to share your captivity? As a display of gratitude for your help. I fear the lovely wizard is mine. But I have seen other elf-maidens on this island..."

sorry. Classes are killing me this summer.

Keg sputters and curses as the apparition tries to embrace him. The Norse man beating a backwards retreat as fast as he can, waving the orchestra before him until the light of the gem does it's work on Assamuck.

Elnaerel

Does the spectre do any sounds?

Once outside, the elven cleric will take a look behind her to check on her companions and see if the evil spirit is hot on their heels.

The Horror At Large
Starday, 27th of Goodmonth
Early Afternoon, Sunny, Hot, Breezy

With TK, Keg, Elnaerel, Darklin, and Feanol all outside in the bright sunshine, only Feanol spots the specks in the sky coming towards them again.

Keyon commands the monster back with the power of the intense light gem. As he does so, he unfurls the rug under his arm and moves onto it, commanding it to rise from the floor, which it does. Kneeling on his brand new flying carpet, which he most certainly did not have before his run-in with Assamuk, he commands it to hover there until he is ready to leave the tower.

Still holding the light gem towards his adversary, the elf attempts a parlay, hoping to gain some knowledge of this place before they depart. Assamuk hisses at the questions, though once Keyon has spoken, the monsters aggression seems to lessen a bit. "Eeeerrrhhhmmmm! Dont tease me elf! Hhhhmmmmm. You already know that I cant have what I truly want! Hhhhmmmmm. That magical carpet is MINE! Eeerrrhhhmmmm! You stole it from my treasures! And killed all my recruits with your light! Hhhhmmmm. I don't believe a word you say, so why don't you run off now and leave me abandoned here, trapped in this tower forever!" Hhhhmmmm."

Keyon

The elf sighs, shaking his head. "I have been many things in my time. Cheat, scoundrel, coward...but never a liar." He smiles slowly. "I had one in mind, in fact. You should see her. Long waves of chestnut hair like spun silk. Eyes gleaming like twin emeralds. Sun-kissed skin with a splash of freckles across her cheeks. She is all light and laughter, sweetness and grace."

Keyon chuckles under his breath. "I had thought to form a partnership of sorts between us," he says. "But I see that you aren't interested in pleasure or freedom. Perhaps I'll lay hands upon this fair maiden myself, since you don't want her."

He commands the carpet to fly slowly toward the open door. "Keep your secrets, Lord of the Tower."

Darklin

Searches the ground around the ruins for anything of use that may help against the Phantom.

You know he will be able to come out and attack us again tonight when it is dark.

Elnaerel

Seeing the danger approaching, Elnaerel rushes towards the injured Feanol and mutters a prayer.

Cure Light Wounds: [1d8]=6

"We still have some time before dark. We'll be far from here if we make haste.

But first we have to fight again, it seems... Those little creatures are coming back."
She glances back at the that for signs of the spectre or Keyon, getting her teeth, still ashamed of having left him back there. She hopes that the gem worked. If he warned them of its coming and the spectre itself was coming from the trapdoor with Keyon on his heels, perhaps that means that...

She gets her sling.

The Knife

The Knife stops running after a short distance outside, concerned that he'll certainly break an ankle if he keeps going. He turns back to see where everyone else is. When he observes Feanol pointing at something off in the distance he calls out to her, "Feanol! What is it? What do you see?"
