Quest #29 “Raiders of the Lost Obelisk”
Re: Quest #29 “Raiders of the Lost Obelisk”
I think Wes would be better off in the middle. (And just a suggestion, but maybe as the other low AC spellcaster, Chauncey would be too)

Cealwyn will drop back to the rear and watch their backtrail.

Re: Quest #29 “Raiders of the Lost Obelisk”
Suggestion:
Luther AC3 13/30
Grimm AC5 9/10
Wes AC7 16/34 first 6/6 second 0/4 third 3/3
Bonnie AC3 1/17
Chauncey AC8 10/26 CL, DM, RM first 3/3 second 2/2
Mr. Wrenly AC7 4/4
Cealwyn AC3 19/19
I've taken into account what Paladin and Jernau said, but I would swap Grimm for Wes, if only for the remaining HP (although it's true that Grimm has better AC and it makes more sense that he's closer to the front, being partially a thief, if low level).

Hello? Anyone there?
Grimm
Drinks some water and looks at the thick jungle that surrounds them.

Yeah, I'm not sure if we're waiting for OM or he's waiting for us.
Wes
Wes idly flicks some parrot poop off his shoulder and peers into the treetops for any sign of the Phanaton.

He then performs a series of complicated gesticulations with his hands that somehow don't seem to take place entirely in three dimensions. At one point there appear to be definitely more fingers than one would expect and perhaps an extra thumb. Finally, he claps briskly and, as if between blinks, Bonnie is gone.
"Impressive, isn't it?" he says, clearly pleased with himself, regarding the space where the controversial thief used to be.

Luther
Luther chuckles. Now, how much to make her silent? Just joking- let's move.

Back To The Temple
Godsday, 23rd of Goodmonth
Late Morning, Sunny, Hot, Buggy
As expected, Chauncey finally uses his magic to render the groups scout unseen so they may pass through the area of the tree folk without incident. The feeling of being watched returns as they walk, and doesn’t reside, but none in the group spots anything that might cause such a feeling.
In a couple more hours time, the party has hiked all the way back to the rear of the temple building. The same strange female sobbing noise can still be heard alongside the trail when they pass that area. From outside the wall, no action can be seen inside the courtyard, and the place looks pretty much the same as when you last left it.
Actions?
Luther AC3 13/30
Grimm AC5 9/10
Wes AC7 16/34 first 6/6 second 0/4 third 3/3
Bonnie AC3 1/17 (Invisible)
Chauncey AC8 10/26 CL, DM, RM first 3/3 second 1/2
Mr. Wrenly AC7 4/4
Cealwyn AC3 19/19

Bonnie
Welcome back!
As Bonnie fades from sight, she can't help herself and chuckles a bit. She moves close enough for Luther to hear her whisper. "Don't worry, I can be quiet. Let me know if you need something scouted out."
She hikes along with the others, just to the side so that feet don't get tangled up.
Once back at the scene of the crime, she breaks her silence. "Remember, there may be a colony of Kobolds here. I think we saw some on the way out."

Luther
Let's skip this mess.... Luther gestures along the outside of the wall, indicating that they avoid the temple courtyard and any of the troubles there.

Wes
"Agreed", says Wes. "We have the rest of the day for trouble to find us. No need to go stirring it up".
At the mention of kobolds, Wes turns his attention away from the treetops and directs it on the undergrowth instead.

Cealwyn Blackthorn
Cealwyn absently rubs the golden band around his finger, scanning their surroundings. "Yes, let's pass this by." He nocks an arrow just in case, quiet and watchful.

Grimm
"Brrrr! Kobolds? I can't stand those beasties." Grimm mutters something in dwarvish that doesn't sound particularly flattering.
"And I can't stand this place. Gives me the creeps. Bad memories."
He heeds his companions words and keeps on walking, weary of their surroundings.
I missed Chauncey's bombastic eloquence

Staying Away From The Temple
Godsday, 23rd of Goodmonth
Late Morning, Sunny, Hot, Buggy
The group wisely avoids the temple grounds altogether, skirting around the dilapidated outside walls and continuing down the tight trail towards the loggers shack.
After about one mile of hiking through the buggy jungle, the distinct feeling of being watched grows with every step. Wes is eventually hit on his head with a soft, unripe, green almond shell that falls from the thick branches overhead. A strange sound of almost childlike giggling can barely be heard over the usual din of the jungle.
Looking up into the thick foliage doesn't reveal the responsible culprits.

Wes
Wes turns around and rubs his head. Looking up toward where the laughter seems to be coming from, he calls out "Chwee? Is that you? Chwee?
As he waits for a response, he says as aside "Let's see who it is first, before I go casting any spells..."

Cealwyn Blackthorn
The ranger eases his bow over his shoulder to appear less of a threat and casually examines the treetops, seeking the tosser in question. If the thrower would have intended harm, he imagines they'd have thrown more than a nut.

Re: Quest #29 “Raiders of the Lost Obelisk”
Mr. Wrenly moves to jump off Chauncey's shoulder to climb into the treetops and discern the source of the noises, but the wizard isn't having it.
"Mr. Wrenly, I forbid it! We are partners in this enterprise, but if you insist on taking unnecessary risks there will soon be no enterprise, only me. Let us wait a moment and see if this mysterious giggler reveals itself. Reassuringly, it seems to personally know Wesley," he says. "But it could be a Demodand, or even a Grue. One must be careful."
