I was so excited to rush off into certain doom that I forgot about this one. Hope it’s ok to slip it in a little past the wire.

Before leaving the Strumpet, Sven seeks out Bollo for a quick chat.

“I have a proposition for you my good man. I am Sven, the orange haired mage, pleasure to make your acquaintance, I’m sure. I have posted my services on the board outside and I was hoping you wouldn’t mind taking a message down for me if anyone comes asking while I am away from town. For a suitable profit to yourself, of course. Let’s say......5% of any paying contact you organize? Does that seem a fair deal to you sir?”

He’s willing to go up to 10%, but don’t tell him that.

“And maybe you could tell me a little bit about these overzealous squires I’ve befriended while we’re at it?”

The Brazen Strumpet Tavern

Bollo retrospectively bids Sven and Orgoth "Good luck, you're going to need it."

He is fine putting folk your way. He suggests you may want to touch base with 'the other mad wizard with the strange hair." Mazzah 'the Magnificent', lives in a tower in the village. He will happily collect a fee for folk enquiring. As long as you don't set fire to his place with your studies.

I will add the squires info in the expedition thread.

Cosmo

like Golgarth, retires to his room. He puts up his feet and mulls over all today's colourful impressions. And the good mead.

To tag along on the 'Spider' quest, do I look here for next actions, or elsewhere ? Haven't yet quite figured out which thread(s) to monitor after having made a certain game choice in another. T.i.a

If an expedition gets off the ground to go silk collecting or any other, I will open a thread for that group as a separate announcement topic.

I would encourage folk to read all threads not just ones they adventure on, though some players are not as avid a reader as I.

Rondahl the Grim

A stranger to town backs into the room. It's fairly obvious that he is pretty heavily laden. The first thing through the door is a wooden chest, with a helmet tied to one side and a buckler to the other. His backpack seems crushed between the chest and his back. As the stranger makes the turn to face into the room, it's seen that he is a young man, probably not 20 years yet, and likely a warrior. Several weapons hang off the man's belt, and in his right hand is a full-sized trident.

He does make the turn, more smoothly that would be expected, and approaches the bar. He sets the chest down on one end and looks up to read the menus and price lists. After a few moments he waves the bartender over. "Excuse me. Who do I pay for a bunk in the Common Room?" When he gets his answer, the young man nods. "I'm likely to need a bunk for a while, so let me get that out of the way." He reaches into his pouch, pokes around for a moment and removes five gold coins. "I believe this will cover a month in the common room, a bowl of stew, a pint, a second pint, and your tip. Sound about right?"

The Brazen Strumpet Tavern

Bollo serves the gladiatorial dressed newcomer. He refers you to the tavern prices (posted in the tavern description first page).

"The 5gp will cover a week in a common room, all inclusive and an ale with the evening meal. The suite shared with three like minded individuals and a community bathroom down the hallway.

Dormitories are arranged on a single night stay, just bed and breakfast, cold showers and latrine outside by the stable."
he shouts through to the kitchen for another helping of the 'stew of the day' and pours two tankards of ale. The rich tomato based sauce soaks chunks of veg, potatoe slices and venison seasoned with Marjorie (the herb not woman next door). It smells nice and comes with crusty warm bread.

You take a table and see the present groups of people inside. Some local millers, a group of dwarves polishing their helms and shields sit by the window. A large man wearing a helm cleans refuse from a table recently left by a shifty group of squires. The Northmen celebrations, drinking games and arm wrestling continues noisily.

Close to the bar, a barbarian looking girl in a cloak and face paint sits bring chatted up a cheery halfling. The talk about spiders and rope.

Around the room, plaques and memorabilia fill nooks and crannies. A hearth blazes with a log fire.

Sir Dewey

Finally finished with his gathering of scraps and dishes, Sir Dewey brings the collection back to Bollo. "It's been a while since I've cleared a table. Brings back good memories. Here you are." The Knight will take the scraps and nod his thanks.

He finds Golgarth and thanks him for the lodging tonight. "I'll be up at first light right here. Thanks again."

Sir Dewey heads outside and finds a quiet alley to sit and eat. After he takes the plate back in, he'll head towards the chapel of St. Ygg.

Sigrid stands up and bows to Golgarth, saying in a heavy northern accent, "Ah you are one of the Gothar of these lands. I am honored to meet you. The gods have truly blessed our quest by sending one of their disciples." She raises her tankard of honeyed mead in salute and downs the rest of it before returning to her conversation with the little man. When she hears Golgarth has also booked them rooms for the night, she again approaches him, "You are very kind good sir. I insist on repaying you once we return with the silk." She returns to the table to await Mai. Finishing her stew she looks up as the stranger enters carrying the wooden chest. She smiles and nods to him before returning to her conversation with Cade.

I note some folk retiring to rooms. So I will wait for Mai to report back in the tavern and if those who are committed to the spider silk quest are happy. I will open the expedition thread shortly.

You can post practical things if you want extra resources or arrange stuff in the planning topic.

Any spell casters please list your spells on your sheets before you go.

Rondahl the Grim

Rondahl looks up at the price list again and mutters some math under his breath, "7 silver a night times 30 nights..... 210 silver.... 20 silver to a gold..... 10 and half gold ... plus drinks tonight.... tip." The young man looks up at Bollo, "OK, if I can't get a dorm bunk for a month, can I kick in another 6 gold and do the room you mentioned? That would be eleven gold, I think and still include a tip."

 you are correct.
.. 20 silver to a gold...
I stand corrected after playing 30 years of ten to the pound. Some inflation might kick in soon ....

Rondahl the Grim

Rondahl nods and smiles at Bollo, sitting down to his ale and stew. His chest still sits on its side beside him. He listens to the talk that he can hear around him, wondering about any work that might be available for a competent warrior. He saw the bulletin board in town, but his desire to set down the chest and have a drink and bite overruled taking a look then.

When he finishes his dinner, he asks Bollo over once more. "So which room am I staying in, good Bollo?" He once again hefts the chest onto his back and walks to his room. Only then does the young man notice the serving folk and their indisputable charms. The young man, unused to such beauty, stops and stares, first at one, then another. Catching himself, he says, "Pardon me. I am only recently...." and he decides not to further embarrass himself. He nods his head to them and makes for his room.

If he can tell which beds are taken and which isn't, Rondahl will remove the buckler and the helmet from the sides of the chest and slide it up under his bed.

He hangs his buckler and helmet off the side of his belt and returns to the main room. He returns to the bar and call Bollo over once again. He lays 3 silver coins down. "For your staff. I acted like a drooling schoolboy and ogled them like I was in rut. With my apologies."

The Brazen Strumpet Tavern

unless the tavern burns down, there will always be room. Just deduct the amount for the appropriate room in your posts and sheets.

"Tips are fine Sir. We put them to serve community needs. As to the girls, ogling gets the customers in. The flirty damsels are all well able to look after themselves mind so I have no fear that advantages will be taken." Bollo answers Rondahl.

The time passes in the tavern and evening wears on. The Northmen retreat to their rooms, some invariably carried over the shoulder, the dwarves with shiny shields and polished helms leave. The millers go home.

New patrons, a mix of locals and fellow adventurers drift in and Bublé, bard in residence croons to the raucous applause of patrons.

rooms have been paid by Golgarth for those on the spider silk trek. Rondahl has paid for himself. Anyone else needs to sign in and pay a nights stay or find alternate overnights elsewhere.

Feel free to continue roleplay in the tavern.

Dalin returns to the tavern after a fairly eventful time in the Pheasant, but a rather unsuccessful time trying to speak with his "quarry", he plops down wherever there is a seat in a dark corner and orders only something strong to drink.

Rondahl the Grim

Still enjoying his freedom, Rondahl isn't quite ready for bed. With his trident leaning against his table, tines down, he enjoys Bublé's music and drinking a few more ales at a center table. He watches people come and go, but not really taking much opportunity to strike up a conversation. As the place begins to thin out, he does note the Dwarf walk in and grab a corner table. Dalin's appearance is one he can certainly understand, being a man of arms himself. He raises a tankard to the Dwarf, and nods to him.

Dalin the dwarf with a blackeye raises his drink back in salute to Rondahl, and nods his head.

Rondahl the Grim

Rondahl stands, leaving the trident where it stands and placing his helm and buckler on his table. He approaches Dalin and allowing for a comfortable distance, he asks. "May I sit? I would speak with you if you are agreeable."

Going out on a limb. :-D

Rondahl sits down. "My name is Rondahl. I am recently escaped from the gladiator slave pits of the south. I've just arrived and, truth to tell, I'm not sure what to do next. I'm not exactly an adventurer, but I am an accomplished fighter, mostly against other Men and the occasional Orc or Goblin. You seem to be a warrior as well, and I thought you might point me in the right direction to make some money. I would make a loyal partner in any endeavor, if that is something you might be interested in."

Rondahl pauses for a moment to draw a breath and then asks, "What are you drinking, and can I buy you another?"

Dalin nods "Certainly. Have a seat. My name is Dalin." listening to Ronhahl he waits for a pause then says "Don't get the wrong impression of me, these bruises and black eye were not by choice. I was attempting to prove my feats of dexterity, must have been slightly addled by drink, missed my mark and some patrons of another establishment got the wrong idea, and decided to start a brawl with me. Needless to say the saying you should see the other guy would be plural in my case. I look rough but they ended up visiting the healers. Though generally speaking I am not a brawler, I tend to avoid pointless fights, when able to. As to work well I technically am on a job though getting the desired results so far have proven, to require someone with more of a silver tongue than I have." he chuckles at the offer of another drink "I think after this one I'll take a break and have something to eat actually. I did see something on the bulletin board and was thinking to seek this Red Erik fellow and see about the job he has posted about. You'd be welcome to come with if you'd like."
