A couple of questions to start with.
Are Dwarven Clerics allowed?
Are racial level limits in play?
Are you using the dual-classed rules for everyone, ie minimum of a 15 in first prime req. and 17 in the second?
Thanks, love the house rules. This is going to be fun.

Scores [4d6c1]=10 [4d6c1]=12 [4d6c1]=17 [4d6c1]=15 [4d6c1]=9 [4d6c1]=8
starting gold [3d6x10]=10x10=100

Race limits are in play which only affect demi-human characters but I suspect most people will not advance characters to the absolute maximum allowed anyway.

Page 33 phb, describes the human character with two classes and the parameters needed. I interpret the 15/17 rule as applying to human race only.

Dwarven clerics? By the book is an NPC only. I think this is because dwarves (and their gnomish kin) have an innate resistance to magic and spells and so Gygax didn't want them as Spellcasters. The DMG magic and treasure guide specifies details like 'magic rings only work on dwarves 80%' of the time. I will say I am not totally opposed to the idea, so let me dwell in it. Maybe your dwarf could start as a fighter or thief before catching religion?

Was just curious. I like running fighters and clerics and have a great set for a half-orc fighter so may just end up going that way.

Sure but I am still starting demi-human off as single class characters until they pass the 1st advancement point. So do you want to begin play as a half-orc cleric or fighter?

Hello all. I am going to bring another incarnation of a previous Barrowmaze character.

Vann Hector. Elven fighter (possibly go dual class if I can but my stats are quite average).

I know usually folk post character sheets but I guess you want to keep certain skills and stuff secret or personal?

Will we have private forums to communicate in?

Private forums may be set up later if needed.

Character sheets. Sometimes it is good to reveal all, other times players prefer some secrecy though you have obvious giveaways if you go around town preaching and waving a holy symbol of casting spells or pickpocketing.

I seem to have rolled a Mr Average. No bonus or penalty on any stat. I think I will try to play a cleric and will wait for your stuff on the gods of the realm.

More than likely I'll be a Dwarf fighter or thief.

Besides what you state in 'Character Creation', do you have any special updated wishes (eg 'we have too many spell casters at the moment' or 'could need some more elves' etc).

Thanks in advance

So to answer your question Nordbo. While all the characters may gravitate naturally towards a tavern meetup, I am trying not to funnel the players into one linear group. So characters can explore the village and surrounds, dig up rumours, participate in side quests and join as one group or create separate explorations.

The challenges in the Barrowmaze will obviously suit a multi-classed group for division of skill sets but there is no reason why you can't all be pilgrims of one sect or vagabond elven druids intent on pacifying the countryside or the faction of Ironguard Mottes breakaway rogue society.

If you think certain skills are absent then you have various mercenary and hireling opportunities to use.

Ok I've added all of the 1st level cleric spells to my spell book. Should I add all of the 2nd level spells since I have bonus spells due to wisdom of that level?

Add 2nd level spells to your sheet when you are able to cast them as a 3rd level cleric.

Incidentally for you budding clerics I have typed up the Deities section and some advantages that each god bestows. Please choose one of these deities and make the appropriate notes on your sheets.

As a follower of St. Ygg I must destroy undead without mercy.

One question: what does turning undead actually do? Enquiring minds want to know.

The Turning Undead information along with attack matrices and Saving Throw information is contained in pages 74-79 of the DMG. I will update the cleric topic here with the tables. But in short a good cleric may turn undead on a successful roll vs the creature type and cause a random number to move away for 3-12 rounds or in the case of higher level clerics, destroy them.
