She has swept her hair back into a pony tail and now wears a large bore pistol in a holster on her thigh in addition to another in her shoulder rig. The grip of some melee weapon protrudes over her right shoulder. When she turns around Pavel sees that it is a boarding axe decorated with runes and possessing a wicked reverse spike.

Carlos looks up from his checklist and spins his chair around. "Best not be packing that amongst the biofreight, Sigrun. They might get nervous. Rough on the fixtures." He looks at Pavel. "Welcome aboard."

John Lee walks onto the Bridge saying, "Sigrun, you ready to do the cargo thing? I just got word the load will be here in about 20 minutes."

"Oh, hey, Pavel!" John Lee waves at the new crew member, "Walk with Sig and me and we'll drop your luggage off in the crew lounge and take you back to Engineering. Emily is back there. She can bring you up to speed on things and show you around."

He looks up at nowhere in particular and says to the air, "Connie, this is Pavel Porfirovich our new crew member. Add him to your database as Crew, specifically, Engineering Crew."

"Pavel, say 'hello' to our ship's computer, Connie Malone." John Lee says looking over at Pavel, "We've discovered that she's a bit more intelligent than your average computer."

Pavel nods. ”I’ve got a scattergun (sawed-off shotgun) stowed away with my kit. On a ship, I’ve got a better chance within close quarters to hit anything I shoot at. The revolver at my hip is mostly for show.”

Sigrun nods approvingly and states "Wearing a sidearm is polite in mixed company. We have snub pistols as standard ship security issue - pick your own load. There are speed loaders of HEAP for emergencies. Even if you don't favour pistols they are good for placing HE and Gas rounds".

She continues "John Lee and I have made some boarding pistols with holsters and there is also a full auto shotgun in the ship's locker. Please arm yourself and practice with your weapon - I can set up a range in the cargo hold".

As an afterthought she adds more advice "Some of the crew walk about unarmed - they are not being "forward". The Kapiten does it all the time and also in public - he is..." she searches for an Imperial word "eccentric, ja?"

(OOC: On his orientation tour Pavel will no doubt visit the ship's locker. It does indeed contain a number of snub revolvers and all ammo types (Tranq, HE, HEAP and Tranq Gas). It also contains several shotguns, a full auto shotgun firing from a large box mag and a pair of sawn off side by side shotguns with holsters and bandoliers of buckshot. All the weapons are new and very well maintained.

Sigrun's policy on security seems to be that everyone should be armed to the teeth! )

"Extolay Traffic Control, Connie Malone is cleared to release clamps and withdraw at 1805.00 this date from Up Port dock. Current time, 1758.30...Mark! Outbound route attached to this message. Please, confirm release instructions and receipt of outbound track."

Once confirmed, Traffic Control sends, "Received and good voyage, Connie Malone. Over and out!"

Carlos spools up the attachment onto his console and checks it over. "Recieved and locked in. Thank you, Extolay. See ya in a few weeks." He locks the course in. "Course to jump locked in, Skipper." He keys the lines and umbilical controls. "We have cast off. Ready to manuver."

The ship slowly drifts back from the space dock. At the Captain's order the pilot applies thrust and the ship's distance from the Up port increases enough for it to change vector and move over and past the space structure.

The Bridge crew look at the port as you pass over it revealing it to be smaller than it appeared as you were inside, but clearly big enough for its purpose. The docks around the Up port are busy with lighters transporting goods down to the surface and back up. It looks like almost all traffic here goes through the Up Port, maybe something to do with the "unrest" down on the surface you've heard about. Maybe Pavel knows more about that as he was here longer than you were.

Soon Connie Malone is arcing around the planet on a half orbit before moving out along the prescribed route to the 100 diameter limit you were give. In a few hours you'll shift into to Jump Space. Already, the navigator is getting the "jump tape" spooled up and ready to run and the Engineering crew are prepping the Jump Drive for when it tears a hole in the fabric of space and allows your ship to slide into the "somewhere" you go when you enter Jump Space.

The passengers are settling in for the trip. Most are getting ready for an early for an early dinner followed by an early "night" so they can sleep through any discomfort the translation creates. A few who know they are not badly affected by the translation are thinking about a card game and a few drinks.

Ship's Stewards, Joxe, Sigrun and John Lee are getting that dinner ready. Sigrun, of course, is more concerned with security than food, but that isn't her direct duty at the moment. Joxe, recalling what happened a week ago is a little worried about what everyone is eating and thinking about making sure everyone is safe this time.

Joxe, recalling what happened a week ago is a little worried about what everyone is eating and thinking about making sure everyone is safe this time.

Zaki had taken the precaution of checking samples of every dish before preparing it for anything that shouldn't be there. She takes trays to Carlos and whomever else is standing bridge watch. "I checked everything carefully, I promise."
