Action Thread #9 - The Forest
Re: Action Thread #9 - The Forest
to hit w/Staff (2 hand): thaco 20 [1d20] = 7, Dmg (s,m) [1d6+2] = 5+2 = 7, Dmg (L) [1d6+2] = 6+2 = 8
"Getoffame bird...bitch! Didnt you hear her? We are the chosen ones of....uh....hmmm...uh....nevermind. "
I cant remember the last time I actually hit something with this dice roller

Me neither - think its rigged!
Having said that....
Swilbosh steps in with greater urgency, attacking next to Andrin and strikes the bird lady:
Battle Axe To Hit [1d20+2] = 13+2 = 15 Damage [1d8+2] = 1+2 = 3

Thurinor rushes to the aid of Andrin or Stonjuz (whichever is closer), drawing his sword. "Begone, fell lady-birds!"
To hit short sword: [1d20+2] = 1+2 = 3 Damage s/m [1d6+1] = 6+1 = 7 Damage L [1d8+1] = 2+1 = 3 Yeah, so there goes my nice streak. Back to the old dice roller... That means I've only got two more 1s left to roll to pay for the 20s I've rolled of late...

Re: Action Thread #9 - The Forest
Edited due to non-feasibility of last stated action.
Ozborn does a mental fist-pump (accompanied by a screaming lute riff) as his arrows drop the diving bird lady. His euphoria is short-lived, however, as the remaining ones dive to attack his companions. He draws his short swords and momentarily considers trying to backstab one of the freaky, winged ladies, but instantly decides against it when he realizes the monsters know exactly where he is, decreasing the chance one of them would willingly present it's back to him. Instead he runs out to try and skewer one the old fashioned way - frontwards, right in the gizzard.
If close enough, Oz will try to attack the one attacking Stonejuz, the source of future healing. If not, then whichever one is nearest:
To hit w/ Short Sword, main hand: [1d20+2] = 18+2 = 20, damage (s/m): [1d6+3] = 5+3 = 8, damage (L): [1d8+3] = 3+3 = 6
Word to one's mother!
To hit w/ Short Sword, off hand: [1d20+1] = 5+1 = 6, damage (s/m): [1d6+3] = 6+3 = 9, damage (L): [1d8+3] = 7+3 = 10
Oops.
His second attack goes wide due to Ozborn laughing out loud when Thurinor yells "Begone, foul lady-birds!"

Day 6 - Noon - The Forest/The Clearing
Round 2
Party Initiative: [1d6] = 3, NPC/Monster Initiative: [1d6] = 1
Segments: Stonjuz/Swilbosh/Malone 1st, Thurinor/Andrin 2nd, Ozborn/Ogirdor/Sisters 3rd
Cursing and calling upon the power of prophecy Stonjuz tries to swat away the bird woman trying to rake him, with no success. Swilbosh is more sucessful but not by much, his axe lightly cuts her wing. Malone does not fair any better against his avian female, finding it hard to combat an enemy so close with a long weapon.
Having exchanged his weapon Andrin manages to smack the taloned female who wounded him prior with a staff blow. the creature doesn't seem too put off by the blow. Thurinor comes to the druid's aid, drawing his sword but fails to get a good stab in.
The woman-things keep trying to rend their chosen prey apart. Andrin get clawed and bitten for 5 HP. Stonjuz fares worse and is assailed by a flurry of fang and claw for 7 HP, and even Malone, despite his much heavier armor, feel the pain from the attacks of his female agressor for 4 HP.
Having drawn not only one, but two shortswords Ozborn imitates Thurinor but comes to the aid of the dwarf stonjuz. With a 3:1 advantage he easily get a poke in and his blade dives a wicked wound on the monstrous woman's body...but still she stands.
Finally, Ogirdor finishes readying spear and axe and comes running to Malone's aid. He axes the thing with a mighty blow and she look much distraught and worse for wear.
End of Round 2

Situation: The 3 remaining sisters are in melee with Malone/Ogirdor, Andrin/Ozborn and Swilbosh/Stonjuz/Thurinor respectively. Everyone is engaged in melee

As his friends get mauled by the bird ladies, suddenly this situation doesn`t seem so funny anymore. Oz swings desperately with his blades again at the creature in front of him.

Thurinor sees the battle turning wrongside-up and decides to pull out his dagger for an extra, off-hand attack while stepping in place of the retreating Stonjuz. "Now listen ... lady-birds ... you do know that you're ... making us ... angry..."

Day 6 - Noon - The Forest/The Clearing
Round 3
Party Initiative: [1d6] = 4, NPC/Monster Initiative: [1d6] = 3
Segments: Party 3rd, Thurinor/Sisters 4th, Stonjuz 7th
Stonjuz falls back and begins blabbering something in magick-speak. Ogirdor and Andrin make very poor showing of their weapon skills and hit nothing. Swilbosh fares better than them and once again his axe collides with its mark...but only scrapingly.
On the other hand, Malone delivers some impressive death-dealing. His halberd spears, impales, hacks and rends. The body of the bird woman he and Ogirdor are facing dies even before falling and is further mauled on its way down courtesy of the halberdier.
Fearing for his fellow adventurers Andrin's safety, Ozborn desperately stabs dually with his short blades. His efforts do not go unrewarded, one gladius is driven deeply into the bird woman's chest. Her eyes go wide with shock, giving the creature's face a surprisingly human appearance, and with a rattle it too goes down.
Mad at the lizardman that was axing her as she pounced on Stonjuz, the last remaining bird woman turns her fury on Swilbosh. Talon and fang rend and gash reptilian skin for 5 HP.
Meanwhile, having taken the place of the dwarven cleric Stonjuz and shielding him, Thurinor has pulled out his dagger and Ozborn-like, weapon in each hand, he tries to help Swilbosh fight the bird woman. The dagger on his left hand finds a space between her ribs and plunges in. With a last, pained scream she tumbles sideways and lies unmoving on the soil.
Finally, the clearing lies silently, apart from the normal sounds of nature and Sonjuz's casting which is soon finished as he completes the incantation and a wave of mild healing energy courses over his body.

Stonjuz begins plucking. During the gathering, he relates, "Maybe we really ARE the chosen, boys!"

But were they really harpies? No singing?
Swilbosh curiously inspects the bodies and comments to the Dwarf:
"I can ssseee they are not human, my friend, at leassst I have never sssseen a flying human before. But what creature are they?"
Swilbosh will look for anything of value on the corpses.

Day 6 - Noon - The Forest/The Clearing
Swilbosh begins to move, and there is change.
There is no visible transmutation, no shimmering of air, no flashes or brightness nor is there any sound. Simply, suddenly, in less time that it could take to blink an eye...they change.
The bodies of their attackers are still there; fallen, broken, positioned as before where they died. But they are no longer the corpses of bird-women; but rather seemingly normal human females. Young, denuded and bearing uncanny resemblance in body shape and face to the woods woman that welcomed them into the clearing. The terrible wounds that cover some of the bodies do not a pretty sight make.
HPs updated. I am not tallying how many spellcasting folks have left. We're on the Honor system here.
