Drest

Drest fires at one of the creatures approaching the ship.

2 attacks with the bow this round.

Short Bow [1d20+1] = 19+1 = 20 to hit [1d6] = 3 damage

Short Bow [1d20+1] = 17+1 = 18 to hit [1d6] = 5 damage

Kaul growls and redoubles his efforts to hit the odd creature.

Weapon Mastery with Bastard Sword gives Kaul two attacks this round. Should he hit and kill his opponent with the first blow, Kaul will turn and slash at the one attacking Xenos. Otherwise, both attacks on the one before him.

Bastard Sword To Hit:[1d20+2] = 13+2 = 15 Damage:[1d8+2] = 1+2 = 3

Bastard Sword To Hit:[1d20+2] = 4+2 = 6 Damage:[1d8+2] = 6+2 = 8

Phah!

Valkrina

Would test her arm and prowess at hitting a raptor but her hunting skills are a bit lax and even from close in, her throw is wide of the mark.

Valkrina throws javelin short range [1d20] = 6 dam [1d4] = 3 (+2 dex but still misses)

Euripides Nereos

Euripides urges the newcomers to hurry as he sends another stone on its way to the attacking creatures.

Prehistoric Turkeys
The Dark Beach
Night, Cool, Breezy

The small yet vicious monsters seem almost unintelligent initially, fighting in their pack mentality as Valkrina pointed out earlier. Drest and Euripides take down the one approaching the ship, no more than a black spot in the darkness really, though it’s constant screeching aids their shots greatly.

Kaul and Xenos quickly slay the pair closest to the ship, with the fortunate help of one accurate spear trust by the newcomer in the dirty loincloth. While his friends hop aboard the vessel, Pako holds them at crossbow point with a disgusted look on his weathered face.

Watching the dimly lit Viking battle rage in the distance, things don’t appear to be going quite so well. The last of the distant screeching brings a final trio of creatures into the weak ring of torchlight. One leaps up into the chest of Ragnarr, causing him to step backwards and knock over their torch stuck in the sand. (fumble) Hakon makes a valiant effort to defend himself as two more of the little monsters lunge at him. Showing more intellect than expected, instead of attacking, one of the newly arriving monsters stomps the flickering torch into the wet sand, extinguishing it completely and throwing the entire battle into complete darkness. Shouts and screeches continue to ring out in the night sky.

Xenos looks over to the Kimmerian "It seems those vikings need our help, if you're interested?" he glances up towards those in the boat "Can you throw us down a couple of lit torches!" he looks back to Kaul "If we swap shields for torches we should be ok"

Valkrina

Supports Pako in shepherding the slaves into a huddle. "Our men bleed their lives so you can escapes the ravages of this place. If you have no strength of arm to fight, then at least lift your voice in support."

She prods a couple in the ribs, encouraging their vocal efforts to form a choir hoping the extra voices could increase the sphere of her inspirational arts to those beyond the sandbar.

Euripides Nereos

Here's some light! Grabbing a pair of lit torches, Euripides drops them over the edge, hoping the bottom of the torches will stick in the sand so they don't go out.

"Aye, Xenos. Let's run to their aid." Kaul cranes his head to the vessel and bellows along with his comrade, "By Krimmr's hoary ball sac! Throw us a couple of torches!"

When the torches are thrown to them, Kaul will toss his shield and grab one.

Attack Of The Prehistoric Turkeys
The Dark Beach
Night, Cool, Breezy

As the unseen distant fighting rages with the sound of Viking yells and monster screeches, Euripides lights two torches from the one on board, tossing them down to the eager swordsmen willing to rush over to aid their friends. Drest fires another shot into the darkness, unsure where his arrow lands.

Valkrina and Kumaglak help get 2 more of the weakened slaves on board the ship, the pretty bard encouraging them to sing along with her rousing tune. They look back at her as if she were slightly mad, but the ones who know some of the words shyly begin singing along at her command. Pako holds the slaves at crossbow point, unwilling to let them move any further into the ship than the bow. "Each of ye stay right where ye are until we get this all sorted!"

Kaul and Xenos drop their shields and grab the torches, charging into the melee where the Vikings are not faring well. Once they light up the battle area again, they find Ragnarr laying on his back in the sand, bleeding from several cuts on his face and hands. One of the little monsters appears about to pluck out the mans eyeball as he tries to shove the creature off of him. Hakon is also bleeding, though he remains upright at least. He injures one of the things with a glancing blow just as the pair arrives on the sandy scene.

Drest

Drest shoots at one if he has clear shots.

Short Bow [1d20+1] = 4+1 = 5 to hit [1d6] = 1 damage

Short Bow [1d20+1] = 11+1 = 12 to hit [1d6] = 1 damage

A Vlasta from HarnWorld, your description is almost a perfect fit. On a critical hit they rip out an eye.

Valkrina

Helps Pako keep order on the ship by corralling the escapee slaves to sit out of harms way. As they climb aboard she wants to check they carry no hidden weapons so frisks them, telling the unarmed to "Sit and ding over there." To any carrying weapons (wether a blade or blunt instrument like a mining pick or staff) will prod them back at the point of her spear, "Go help the men over there you scurvy dog."

Do any of these people still wear chains or manacles or cuffs? Do I notice anything significant about them? (A slave branding, leprous skin, etc)

Love that pic, Rex! Sorry for the delay again here. I will NPC E this round, I guess.

Attack Of The Prehistoric Turkeys
The Dark Beach
Night, Cool, Breezy

Drest continues firing into the melee, missing with both his arrows. Euripides fires as well, experiencing the same results. Kaul moves to aid the flailing Hakon, but his footing is spoiled in the soft sand, causing him to miss with his attack. Xenos steps up with a well timed blow, killing one of the creatures near Ragnarr, who is still struggling to get away from the persistent monster on top of him.

Hakon is able to defend himself from the creature on him, but Ragnarr isn't as lucky. With its vicious front claws already imbedded into the Viking's chest, the rear claws also rake and rend, opening up an attack from its beak as well. By the time this monster is done, Ragnarr lay unconscious, unable to defend himself any longer. Only two of the monsters remain, and the one on Kaul and Hakon appears about ready to bolt for the trees.

With all the nearly naked men aboard the vessel now, Val keeps them in line as best she can, giving Pako a break from his unfriendly threats. None of these men carry any possessions, except for the one with the sharpened stick who helped Kaul initially down below the bow, but he simply ignores her command to go aid the others. She can see that they all have ligature marks on their ankles, possibly left by manacles, but they are not otherwise injured in any way. They all look frightened, filthy, cold, and hungry, and most of them start asking for food and water as soon as they are aboard.

Drest

If they remain in melee, Drest holds his shot. If either breaks for the jungle he will take one last parting shot once its clear of the others.

Valkrina

Sensing the immediate threat of a raptor pride swarming the ship lessened she stops her vocal inspirations. And these escapees look as the slaves they say they are. She can imagine that Captain Lazereth will not be happy with the newcomers but perhaps they can work their passage though the next stop should be Kazeffron's point of interest. They could be out leaping of the frying pan and into the fire.

Leaving Pako to ward them with his crossbow, she sets about organising some food and water and blankets at least. Maybe Kumaglak could help, the very least he can shimmy up a few icicles if fresh water is sparse.

She talks to the spokesman among them asking them about the island, it's people and what apart from mining ore is traded here.

Euripides Nereos

The Atlantean will fire off another sling stone, hoping to hit one of the nasty little creatures savaging his compatriots.
