Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay (Grame is full but we have a wait

#1 Post by Hadarai »

Anyone game to go adventuring in the Old World? If you are I'm planning on running the classic adventure "Night of Blood" using either WFRP 1st, 2nd, 4th edition or Zweihander depending on player preference.

Here's a few things to consider though, this will be my first time running any kind of PbP game so this will be a big learning experience for me. If things work out hopefully we can move onto another adventure/adventure path.

My work schedule has been erratic lately so the game speed will probably be on the slower side, most likely one post a week but I'll try to get updates out in time sooner if I can. Updates will usually come out in the evening PST (GMT-8).

If you're alright with all of this and want to fight mutants, greenskins, and chaotic horrors go ahead post below.

Our game is filled at the moment but we'll still be accepting applications on our waiting list! Just to note we are using first edition.

1.) Odin One Eye
2.) ginnymack

I might be good for this. Used to play Warhammer Online and fell in love with the game. Sure miss it!

I'm interested. I have 1st ed and Zweihander though I haven't played either one so I have no preference between the two.

I'm interested as well. Played 1st ed face to face back in the day and did a little GM'ing of it (not the adventure you speak of). Have 1st and 2nd ruleset and Zweihander as well.

I did as well! Man I had such a blast playing back then, if you're feeling nostalgic I believe there is a private server called Return to Reckoning up and running.

Glad to see you ybn1197 and VonAlric!

For anyone else browsing the game, character creation is random and the game is a pretty simple d100 system for every edition so if you're hesitant about not having the game, we should be able to accommodate.

Can't believe I missed this! Please count me in if you have the room and will have a miscreant like myself! :) I am fine with the posing schedule you indicate. I have never played zweihander or 4th edition WFRP (just 1st) but am willing to learn either.

You're in, welcome aboard!

With four people interested we've got a perfect sized party for this adventure and it seems like general preference is down to Zweihander or 1e, the difference between the two is mostly mechanical. Zweihander is a little more modern in it's approach to the WFRP system, it tries to mitigate the "whiff factor" that 1st and 2nd edition suffered from and adds some flavorful bits to the characters in the form of a thematic alignment system, and each career gets a special ability associated with it.

1st edition is old school all the way, simple and brutal it does need a little house ruling to fix some of it's problem (naked dwarf syndrome for example) but I've been told it's a great time, I haven't run 1e before just read the book but it is so similar to second edition that I don't think it really matters.

I have found a wiki that collects the basic rules of the 1st Core Rulebbok that should be a very handy resource for those without the rules or don't feel like digging out their books.

With that in mind I'm leaning on 1st edition as our system for this game unless Zweihander has more interest for you guys!

Also if anyone is still considering joining the game I believe we can accommodate 2 more players!

As far as the rules go, I can go any way. Last time I played was so long ago that any rule set is going to seem new. :)

I'm good with it. I printed my PDF out a month or two ago when someone else proposed a game but it never got past the discussion stage.

I just sent out a PM but might as well update the thread as well, we're up and running! Please head over to the Adventures in the Old World forum and get ready for some grim and perilous action!

For anyone out there lurking we can accommodate two more players if anyone is interested!

Hey folks, we need a couple more players for this one. If you have ever wondered if there are "trolls in the pantry" or if maybe "that is your leg" please join us. WFRP 1e rules.

Oof, I absolutely love WFRP and would normally jump at the chance but I'm only just starting a WFRP 4e game over on RolePlayOnline that is also using 'Night of Blood' and I don't want to get spoilers. :(

Hi everyone,

I came here from the WFRP Discord, saw the ad for the game over there. I played WFRP 1e as a kid way back in the mists of time, and it was my first experience of RPGs setting me up for life in the hobby (although I did drift away for a while to be honest). I have played Night of Blood once before in 2e but it won't be a problem to play through again and play dumb with it. Looking forwards to it!
