Quest #21 "Island Hopping"
Re: Quest #21 "Island Hopping"
looks like the minotaur didn't like your note. maybe from now own you should try poking them with your staff instead of talking to them.

Re: Quest #21 "Island Hopping"
Back To Work
Freeday, 19th of Goodmonth
Early Morning, Partly Cloudy, Warm, Humid
Once the room has been examined again, Maag steps up to showcase his talents. He deftly points out the pressure plates on the rock wall that will trigger the hidden trap to spill acid on anyone trying to push the wrong statue into the wrong position. Andron, Cresty, and Lerrick try not to roll their eyes at the muscular thug when he shows them the same trap that they had already triggered the last time they were in here. After a few clips behind the loose stones with his wire cutters, The hefty thief is certain that he was able to prevent the triggers from working again.
Other than the mess on the floor, and the statues being pushed back into their original places, nothing else seems to have changed since their last visit. Maag doesnt spot any other dangers in the rocky wall behind the stone minotaurs. Andron reminds the group that the statue with its eyes covered must be slid face first into the alcove behind the statue with its ears covered.

Re: Quest #21 "Island Hopping"
Saracen hands the Priest of peace his enchanted longsword and his conjured healing water vials in case something else terrible occurs or the wizardpriest is incorrect. The holy champion of Pholtus will then ensure everyone else is well back from the statues.
He then moves over to the statue with its eyes covered and begins to push it face first behind the statue with its ears covered as Andron indicated.

Magg
Maag stands well back out of the way. Although feeling proud of a job well done, he knows that he really doesn't know all that much about traps and things. He's more of an expert in delivering a good kicking in dark alleyways.
He winces as Saracen starts to push the statue, wondering if there were any traps he didn't find. I mean, ooever built dis place put a lot of effort into it..... He waits for the screams and the angry recriminations.

Cresty
The paladin's eyes are focused on the ceiling where the painful liquid poured out of the ceiling trap, ready to warn the warrior priest if it looks to seep out again. Careful Saracen...caaaarreful.
Lerrick
The cleric grips her mace tightly, ready for the worst.

Re: Quest #21 "Island Hopping"
Andronichishche arches an eyebrow at Gramble's suggestion. "If it was the minotaur, indeed it has not. However, that note was intended for Brutus, or whatever it is that stole Mr. Alordan's nets. It can shape stone as if it were wet clay, and if it can do that then it may also be capable of more ... like turning flesh to stone." He gestures at the trio of statues for emphasis. "It would be wise to attempt communication before resorting to violence." He lets out a sigh and shrugs his shoulders. "As for the minotaur ... I concede my efforts were naive."
Andron accepts Saracen's long sword and vials, pausing briefly in wonder at the vial's shimmering contents but deciding to hold any questions for now. "Thank you for volunteering Brother Saracen. May the Blinding Light guide your hands true."

Re: Quest #21 "Island Hopping"
Despite his immense strength, Saracen is unable to maneuver the statue into position all alone. He will need help from another strong member, or a few who are not so strong.

Gramble will help

Andronichishche continues to bring up the name of Brutus, even though there is still much uncertainty attached to that handle. He suggests that all of the strange things they have been finding could be tied together, though he still seems unsure about who or what could meld stone so easily and turn living beings into statues.
Saracen grunts loudly trying to push the huge stone minotaur alone, but once he gets a little aid from Cresty and Gramble, the job becomes much easier. The trio slides and maneuvers the heavy piece to a position directly behind the one next to it, slowly easing it back and watching the alcove closely until the statues features connect perfectly with the rocks rough protrusions. Once the statue with its eyes covered is pushed in tight to the wall behind the statue with its ears covered, a satisfying click is heard, causing a rough section of the wall behind the statue on the left (the one with its mouth covered) to slowly slide open, revealing a secret passage beyond that is dark and silent.

Nicely done. We are getting close. To what? I don't know. The paladin waits as the warrior priest finishes his inspection. Given the all clear he will continue forward checking for traps with the 10' in the manner he has done so the whole time.
Lerrick
The cleric readies herself as well.

Re: Quest #21 "Island Hopping"
Andronichishche steps up to join Saracen at the threshold of the secret tunnel. From this vantage point he attempts to ascertain if the walls appear to be molded in the same fashion as the entry cave western tunnel or the usual worm like identations seen nearby.
After that he looks for any obvious levers or trigger plates that could open the door from the other side, again not actually entering the tunnel itself. "I expect if the statue is moved back this door will close again, and something definitely moved it back before. We may be trapped inside were this to happen." He pauses for a moment and glances at Cu pensively. "Miss Tlachtga, would you speak with Cu and ask if he smells any scent over here at the threshold? And more importantly if it's the same scent as what trampled the rations?"
Andron points to the inverted looking statue, now pushed against the wall behind its hearing neighbor. "I have a suspicion something else in these caves wanted us to find this. We found the clue which said to look hear for a secret, but the inversion of that statue is not implied. However, something turned around the first kobold statue in Cora's altar room, perhaps as a hint? But why would it need or want us to go here?"

Re: Quest #21 "Island Hopping"
Alordan continues to be impressed with Andron's observations and figuring out of things. As he cautions on checking for tracks or clues on this new tunnel floor - hopefully there will be some in stead of stone - he brings up what's nagging at him, "good questions - i can't help but keep wondering about that magical dais. I mean that's some potent magic to transport something like that right? So what bothers me is where are they transporting from - and why..."
