06. Sleeping Dragon Inn
Re: Sleeping Dragon Inn
Epsilon would be willing to do whatever the larger group decides, but his vote would be to try and solve the mystery that seems to be going on in town.
He is going to take a close look a the dager to see if it is maybe ceremonial or has some kind of clan markings. Not many cooks have daggers and will lay in wait to try and slit your throat.
Also finding the folks in this in a little TO friendly.

Re: Sleeping Dragon Inn
Once seated, Epsilon produces the dagger and begins a more thorough examination of it. While absent of any unusual markings, it is of fine craftsmanship and is sturdily built with an extremely sharp blade. It is a true dagger, in that it can be used for both cutting or thrusting attacks; but given that it was acquired from a chef, you realize it could have been a very helpful kitchen instrument as well.

This will be my last post before tonight, but I wanted to at least give names and brief descriptions of the locals encountered in case you're interested in engaging with them.dmw71 wrote:The five regulars squeeze into one of the round tables without complaint; one of them grumbling that they were planning to offer the table on their own, and that Ferrell spoiled his gesture. All bid the group a fine morning and extend warm greetings.
The five locals, all farmers, do greet the party. The oldest, late 20's, are a set of male twins: Noonan and Norian Draysden. They are rugged, but friendly. The one female in the group is their younger sister, Theora, who you suspect is in her late teens or early 20's. The other two are Otis and Searry, childhood friends of the Draysden's. All are extremely polite and friendly, and appear approachable, even after they return to their tables after the initial introduction.

See. There is a reason Ewell keeps his mustache expertly groomed...

Re: Sleeping Dragon Inn
Kaltar accompanies the group inside and sits down near Strom and Epsilon.
He quietly whispers to them at the most opportune moment (ie when the locals wont catch it and when Strom is not doing his concentration thing:
"My interest is piqued, I think we check this place out for a short while, then head for the temple"
I vote for trying to delve into the mystery here for a while. If we don't get anywhere, head back to the goblin cave - there may be a connection between the two of course...

Re: Sleeping Dragon Inn
That sounds like a good plan to me, as well.
Assuming this place checks out OK, it would be nice to sleep securely for a night or two...

The halfling, driven by the cheese, again wants to speak his mind's opinion on the Goat, but everytime he begins to open his mouth, something breaks his concentration, another speaker, a waif of fresh breads, the sight of cheese wheels. He remains silent. In his mind he is pretty sure the Goat is merely a front for a theives guild.

Strom casually mentions to the group, I sense no tract of what I felt at the other inn.
Re: Sleeping Dragon Inn
Sorry, forgot to actually post an action...
Ewell will introduce himself to the farmers, G' Morning folks. Name's Ewell. I am starting to like this town a lot better.as he looks toward the sister. He then chats with them about the town and farming...

Gwillt chuckles quietly as the youth not-so-subtly tries to "get in" with the only female they've seen in days.
He, instead, focuses on finding a seat at a table and determining what he might be able to order for a meal in this fine establishment.
"What might I be able to order for a meal in this fine establishment?" he asks, to no one in particular as his stomach lets out with a growl of hunger.

eased somewhat by Stroms declaration Epsion sits back in his chair and just observes the layout of the inn.
Re: Sleeping Dragon Inn
Garth sits down next to Shanny, "So, shall we sample the local fare my friend? Bread and cheese with some wine to wash it down?"
Re: Sleeping Dragon Inn
Ewell pipes in..."Sampling wine and cheese, along with a hearty breakfast..."

Re: Sleeping Dragon Inn
Alordan sits down as well eager for a warm breakfast before starting another day of hopefully better outcomes than the previous encounters. Nodding at Gwillt, "Thanks for the arrows, friend. I appreciate the much needed replenishment after that fierce battle that fortunately brought us together".
Alordan sweeps a calm and casual glance across the group of locals and asks "my companions are new this area and I have only been through briefly. What news of the comings and goings of the area can you share? "

Shannigans excitedly nods approvingly, around the room quickly, in agreement with the ranger's words. His mouth full from a passing bread tray.ravenn4544 wrote: "my companions are new this area and I have only been through briefly. What news of the comings and goings of the area can you share? "

I still think gustov knows what is going on, doesn't like it, and is would accept help but he is scared. we need to get him alone and talk to him.
Re: Sleeping Dragon Inn
"I sense no tract of what I felt at the other inn." Strom casually mentions once everyone has settled into their seats, which puts Epsilon at ease; the cleric sits back in his chair and observes the layout of the inn, not noticing anything new or out of the ordinary.
"G' Morning folks. Name's Ewell. I am starting to like this town a lot better." he says as he looks toward the sister; an act which earns him protective looks from her older twin brothers. Theora simply smiles and welcomes Ewell and the rest of the group to O'Hare in general, and the Sleeping Dragon Inn in particular. "Is one of the few places we feel safe." she continues, which draws a cold look from the rest of her group. "Just b'cause people actin' funny don't make it unsafe." says Otis, the first to reply. "Is true." verifies Searry, "but I do tend to agree with Theora. This here inn is 'bout the only place I go anymore."

"If you stayed in the Goat, I reckon you met some strange behavior," says Noonan.
This sparks a lively debate amongst the locals:
The other twin, Norian, starts: "I'ma thinkin' there's something in the well water used there that make 'em act so strange." "Nah!" Noonan protests. "That can't be true." insists Otis "The altered people here can be recognized by fang marks in their throats. How is poisoned water supposed to do that? Huh?" he finishes. "Vampires." says Noonan. "Seriously? You think it's vampires?" he continues.
Gwillt chuckles quietly as the youth not-so-subtly tries to "get in" with the only female they've seen in days, and listens closely to the ongoing debate, which now seems to be dying down. "What might I be able to order for a meal in this fine establishment?" he asks to no one in particular. Ferrell returns to the main room just as the final words rolls of Gwilt's tongue. She carries a tray bearing several baskets of freshly baked breads and dishes of butter, which she goes about distributing at either end of your table. "And for you," she says, leaning over and placing an assorted cheese plate in front of Shannigans. "Now, be sure to share." she instructs the halfling with a smile. "I heard calls for wine while I was in the kitchen, and one fer ale. Jasper is already off to fetch a bottle of his wine... the first of which is always on the house." She passes out two identical menus written on parchment paper reading simple menu items with simple prices. "If'n you plannin' on bookin' a room wit' us," Ferrell says, "Breakfast will be on the house."
I'm going to leave this kind of open at the moment. If you're looking for a place to stay for the night or longer, they have a variety of available rooms:
Lavish: 4gp per night (single, luxurious featherbed)
Private: 2gp per night (single bed)
Double: 1gp per night (two beds per room)
Communal: 5sp per night (multiple beds per room; no other furnishings)
Details about the different room types available upon request.
In the meantime, feel free to enjoy the complemtary breakfast and role play with the locals.

Epsilon looks at Searry
You said this inn is the only place you go anymore, that would indicate it was not always that way. When did the strange behavior start.
