On the morning of the 8th, before the druid sets out on his return to the cave, Wes and Liam conduct some friendly business while they catch each other up.

They see something strange as they converse outside. A young elven woman leaves the common house, followed by two other human females. The girls eventually break off, but as the elf draws nearer, Wes believes he recognizes her.

It’s none other than Bonnie, who he believed went off to the smugglers camp over two weeks ago. She looks absolutely horrible, bug bitten and completely run down. She appears to be heading towards the private shacks.

After being missing from town for a total of 16 day’s, young Bonnie has made her less than triumphant return to where it all started for her.

Liam

He nudges the Druid and points to the wartorn elf lass. Not see her before, is she alright? Looks like she has had a hard time of it. He halts walking back to his own home and moves in her direction with concern in his eyes. Hello Ladies, may we be of any assistance? With all due respect, you seem to need some.

Wes

Wes turns to see who Liam is talking about and is mildly surprised to see his former comrade-in-arms. "Hmmm...I was wondering when she'd show up again. Her name is Bonnie. We went on a trip upriver together with several others. She's the second one to make it back alive. The others are either dead or almost certainly so. Killed by the pirates"

"Bonnie was very chatty with their leader, a mage. She seemed very interested in making friends with them. And now...here she is..."

Wes watches Bonnie for a few more seconds. "It looks like even the jungle animals turned up their noses at her". He notices that Liam seems intent on talking to Bonnie and shrugs. "Well, good luck. By The Shalm's grace, I shall be back to see you tomorrow".

Wes departs in search of Galanthas.

Bonnie

Bonnie notices the men staring at her from a distance. She recognizes one as Wes, the Druid who abandoned her and four others to the jungle. ;)

She is a bit disappointed when he turns to walk away, but the new face greeting her captures her attention. "Who, me?" She looks around and watches the other girls depart. "Guess so. Do I really look that bad? Gods. You'd think a tropical island would be a great place to live." She smiles and tries to smooth her hair. "I'm Bonnie. You're new." She looks the newcomer up and down, decides on something and continues.

"You don't look like the normal sort that this place attracts, are you...one of them?"

Her return is triumphant. I think 16 days in the jungle is a record.

Any Beachtown conversation can continue here if you’d like.

If you are doing things specifically related to Liam and his operation, that can be done in the Liam thread.

Thanks!

The number one thing Bonnie notices as she moves about the small beach village is that nobody here seems to be starving anymore. The people still look haggard and dirty, but they all seem a bit better fed and slightly healthier to her.....well, for humans anyway.

The slightly older human looks a little confused. I beg your pardon, Ma'am, but one of who? As for being the typical sort, well, I get that a lot. MY name is Liam Meadstaff originally of Fort Fjord. I was sent for by Brother Reythan to come and try to help these people here. Speaking of which, you seem to have had an ordeal of your own. Tell me, what happened? Do you need food? Water? Medicine?

Bonnie

She seems quite relieved when hearing Liam's answer. "Ah. Good. I remember Raythan. He asked you to come? Guess you are ok then." Bonnie cheers up and breezes past the question.

"I've been out in the Jungle for...what day is it now? I seem to have lost track of time." She makes a point of looking around and continues "Seems like a lot has changed since I left. In a positive way. I think." After pausing and squinting at Liam: "Say, did you do all this? That's impressive. How long have you been here?"

She finally answers a question. "I just need to put my stuff down and change. I must look a mess. Tell me, who have you met in your time here?" Bonnie seems particularly interested in this answer.

Liam listens intently and nods when appropriate. " As to the day, this is the 8th I believe." Which of course he knew, but he wanted to come off as polite like losing track of time was perfectly understandable, especially considering the ordeal she had just been through. "As to who I have met so far... Why mostly Mr. Nehu and the common folk around here. Caleb and his bunch of good farmers. Marge and her ladies who bring the water up from the river. Wes, the Druid. Joe, who I have recently taken on as an apprentice. I am sure there are others, but I cannot recall their names at this time."

Bonnie

She listens intently as Liam rattles off some names. "Ok. Ok. How about some of the more adventurous types? Chauncey? Luther? Monocar? Lightfinger? Saracen? Aldoran? Jack?" She looks around wildly. "Tell me they are still around! It can't just be Raythan and Wes left!

She trails off, eyes on the ground. "This place is evil. Filled with evil men. Their deaths are on his head." She shakes her head and looks Liam in the eyes. "Be careful good sir, lest he sacrifice you as well."

She suddenly blinks and seems to realize she's in the middle of the town, in broad daylight, ranting. Bonnie smiles, embarrassed, and excuses herself. "Good to meet you, Liam. I'm sure we'll meet again."

Bonnie walks off towards her old shack.

The jungle has not been kind to poor Bonnie.

Liam

She leaves before he can really answer and he shakes his head. He had seen War Weariness before. He would lean in to speak to one of the other ladies that was watching after Bonnie. Best someone keep an eye on her for a while until her mind settles and realizes the danger of whatever she had been through is over. Might spike her drink with something to give her a nice extended rest... She needs it.

With that, he will head back to his little farm.

The young girl give Liam a strange look after he mentions spiking Bonnies drink, but she doesn't say anything about it.

Stand by for some more exciting town action coming shortly.

Moonday, 8th of Goodmonth
Around Noon

There is a bit of excitement at the shores around midday. A few people gathered in the sand are pointing out to sea, thinking that they have spotted Captain Quark's ship finally returning with more supplies.

As the ship sails closer, it becomes fairly obvious that this blocky looking vessel is NOT the Twisted Fate. A look of concern replaces the smiles on the faces of the poor folks of Beachtown.

The ship is heading straight for the island and should arrive in less than a half hour.

With only 2 PC's in town at the moment, I will give either Bonnie or Liam time to respond to this if they choose to. If not, I will continue in about a half hour. (game time, not real time)

Liam

The new man that has made such a splash since arrival rushes over to the dock, this loyal Wolfhound Fiona barking at his heels. Liam holds a bundle of letters in his hands, all addressed and sealed with wax and his personal seal. Over the past days he had taken request from the locals and copied it all down to attach to the original letters to his family members and possible sponsors, along with some suggestions of his own. He also made it a point to write out a few copies of the news on Captain Bing and his apparent illegal activities:

Items Request List
Please, insert whatever Marge and the ladies of the town have requested :)
spinning wheels and supplies
loom
weaver's supplies
raw cloth
sewing needles and similar supplies
bug nets
bug repellants
medicines & misc supplies
Anything in the way of livestock that can be mustered would be extremely beneficial.
raw goods like leather, cloth, scrap metal/ingots, cut lumber, nails, tools for carpentry, masonry, forging, digging, farming, cheesemaking, cobbling, chandlering, tanning.
We need hunting supplies both for aiding in food and self-defense.

I believe we are in need of more tradesmen as well. If there is anyone that could be encouraged to come and aid these people with a promise of later profits as this colony prospers, I believe it could be a great aid to all concerned if we can have a better-established production of goods. Although money is of little value here compared to food and goods, I am sure there can be some incentive found in being the first of a trade to be present in an early town like this one that I believe is already showing much promise with the aid we have established here already. I honestly believe that any investors would quickly see a return in the profits of this place given a little time.

I would like to put out a special notice on one, Captain Bing. He has been accused of piracy here of late and is taking advantage of the desperate situation here. Be on the lookout for him and if you would forward this to the proper authorities so they can put a notice in all the ports of call to be on the lookout for him.

inquire about hardy plant seeds that would do well in the harsh tropical conditions.

Note for a later post presumably on this thread.
plans for a kiln
scout for clay deposits
ask around for anyone skilled in pottery

Liam will directly seek Captain Quark to offer up the letters for delivery as well as to advise him of what he has learned about Captain Bings apparent betrayal.

Moonday, 8th of Goodmonth
Early Afternoon

On the beach, the cry’s from the random townsfolk sing out above the surf as the blocky ship draws nearer.

“Hey! That’s not Quarks ship! It ain’t Bing, either! Who else would be coming to this sorry place?”

“I’ve never seen a ship like that! It doesn’t even look like it should float!”

“Oh gods! I hope they ain’t hostile sea invaders! We’ve already enough to worry about!”

Only a few minutes away from reaching the shore now, the huge sailing vessel looks even stranger close up. It is constructed of very heavy timbers that protrude above and below deck in several places. The shape of it is more square than a normal sailing vessel and it definitely doesn’t appear to be very streamline. Whoever built this giant ship clearly wasn’t concerned with the aesthetics.

Nobody is seen on the deck as it approaches, but shouts and cheers are brought in on the soft breezes as it floats even closer. A single white flag adorned with a large grey rock is the only banner you can see. Nobody on shore seems to know anything about that symbol.

Liam

Looks on at the incoming ship and stuffs the letters away in his shirt. He fingers the axe on his hip. He will then look around for the constable or Mr. N. Even Marge or Caleb... anyone with some authority to coordinate a possible defense if things go south.

Bonnie

Bonnie notices her new friend Liam at the dock and sidles up next to him. "Friends of yours?" She shields her eyes and tries to make out more details of the ship and its crew.

"That isn't elven. Or human. This may not be good news." She looks around, notices the distinct lack of defenses, and sighs. "Let's try and be welcoming, maybe almost exceedingly so. We aren't in a position to ward off raiders." She looks Liam up and down again. "You look respectable, how about you play nice with the raiders while I fetch Nehru?"

The ugly ship steers west of the docks as it approaches, towards the edge of town. It drops sail about a quarter mile off shore and anchors right there.

2 smaller boats are dropped over the side and a huge, bulky winchlike contraption is set over the side of the deck.

Bonnie shades her eyes from the sun and spots what could only be Dwarven war helmets over the tops of the rails. It appears as though they are about to load something into the smaller boats.

Nehru and Glansandi are found walking towards the shore, about to join in with the rest of the spectators.

sorry, I lost track of this thread!

Liam looks concerned. He waves over Caleb, Marge, Nehru and Glansandi. Once they are together he looks between the five of them. I am all for diplomacy, but this looks more like landing party than a friendly group of settlers.
What do we know about them? What defenses do we have? Is there an escape plan in place for civilians?
