We will be starting in Pavis in Prax, but I'm wide open to what we can do.
Some options:
Explore the Big Rubble, a big outdoor dungeon that dwarfs New Pavis. There are prepared scenarios that may be a bit much for you folks, but it's also a place ripe for a GM to set up their own scenarios.
Bumble around in the city and/or nearby region. There's things I can make into adventures or you can just wander the city or the region.
Plug into the Borderlands module, though I'm not sure your party is a good choice for that. If we do bumble around in the nearby region, there's a few scenarios from Borderlands I can use though.
Make a larger trek to Dragon Pass or Balazar.
I also have the RQ3 modules "Shadows on the Borderlands", "Adventures in the Land of the Sun", and "River of Cradles"
This is a sandbox, so while I've set a starting location and may push back if you go charging off into an area I'm totally unprepared to run, there's lots to do.
One thing I've never done, but with the map resources that have come out, there's a big wasteland to the east of the Zola Fel River (aka The River of Cradles).

Re: What interests you
I think we should explore Old Pavis but maybe as guards for more experienced expeditions. Guarding Rafts would be a great job for ducks. We can always flee to the Garden if we are near. The party would be considered elf friends I think.
Re: What interests you
I don't know enough about the setting so will let others decide.
Re: What interests you
Well, you could indicate some general preferences like dungeon exploration or town wandering or wilderness trekking. Or indicate things that maybe you aren't interested in.Rex wrote:I don't know enough about the setting so will let others decide.
Also if someone mentions something that sparks your interest, let us know.
Actually, it would help for me to know who has what familiarity with the setting (and also what rules systems you have experience with).

Re: What interests you
I am very familiar with the Pavis Rubble RQ2 and Most published RQ2 materials available to me.
Re: What interests you
Since I went with Hunter, wilderness of some sort would be my preference. I am assuming the Hunter cult will some how aid me outdoors. I am flexible and enjoy most types of adventures.
I am very familiar with old school D&D (OD&D through 2E), several clones, HarnMaster (1E-3E), Top Secret SI and Rifts. I have played numerous other games but none to the degree as the previous ones.

Re: What interests you
I'm not at all familiar with RQ and I went with hunter as well so I'd say option 1
However like Rex I'd say any wilderness setting would be what I'd be looking towards.Explore the Big Rubble, a big outdoor dungeon that dwarfs New Pavis. There are prepared scenarios that may be a bit much for you folks, but it's also a place ripe for a GM to set up their own scenarios.

Re: What interests you
I haven't picked a cult yet, and I'm still reading through that stuff. I've been playing in a RQ1 game online with Frank, but this is actually my first time creating a character, and I'm still a complete newbie with the setting. There are cults, duck people, runes and battle magic, some Hindu-ish gods, orcs are called trollkin, and some guy named Gringle sells stuff in Apple Lane village. That's pretty much the extent of my knowledge.
Because of that, I'd probably go for wilderness & city crawls, since that seems to be the most fun way to get a feel for the world.

Re: What interests you
YOUR favorite place in the setting would interest me, Frank.
Outside of that, I'm really open to everything. Happy to take a tour of setting, once again.

Re: What interests you
Ok, I think doing some poking around in the city to find rumors for something to do would be a good way to start.
It's probably worth starting to think about how all of you are going to come together. I don't want to role play it in a way that leads to disaster, but having a bit of role play would be good. We've got two less than popular ducks (one Humakt, one Zola Fel), a couple hunters (Foundchild, one a Bison Rider, one from a Pavis minor noble family [or maybe a merchant family]), an Issaries trader from Pavis, and an Elf Sun Dome Templar (Yelmalio).
I nice group with good synergy and other than folks maybe ribbing the ducks (with added fuel of some rivalry between Humakt and Yelmalio) should get along well.
For the rumors, I'll probably come up with a little dungeon expedition, and maybe some overland options. I do have a little cave dungeon that I've used near Pavis in the past.

Re: What interests you
My duck is in the Zola Fel cult, which sort of acts like the riverboating guild. Pay them 1 lunar for the season and you become a lay member, which gives you free rides on the riverboats that the cult runs. I think I may be a full-on initiate, so I might even be able to arrange passage up and down the rivers for the party, not sure on that.
Anyway, that's a good reason to have my duck around, especially if we're doing any overland adventuring along the waterways.

Re: What interests you
Any thoughts on how you want to "form" the party? I'm thinking folks should know two other PCs (even if one PC JUST introduced you to his friend), we want everyone hooked into the party. I'm going to start a Gimpy's thread, with the PCs meeting at Gimpy's to decide where to seek fame and fortune.
Re: What interests you
Sounds good.
Re: What interests you
I want to also make it clear, I think everyone's character is far enough along that we can start some role play in the Gimpy's thread.

i would have no problems if you finish my character. man, its complicated to create characters in RQ!
Re: What interests you
Indeed. I think I'm learning, though, that it's not so much that it's complicated, but that the rules are very scattered and make it more complicated than it needs to be. You sort of have to read and digest the whole rulebook before you know how to create a character, since skills and options are scattered across all of the chapters. In reality, it's not that much different from creating a character in Call of Cthulhu.
It would be a really great resource if someone drafted up a single document that walks you through making a RQ1 or RQ2 character from start to finish, with all of the skills and rules for spending money on training in one place.

Yea, I'm going to try and work something like that up.Starbeard wrote:Indeed. Not to become the lord of annoyance, but maybe that's not a bad idea in my case, either? - Not trying to be complicated here, just don't want to hold you all back. With all the delays over last week, I feel like I do.rossik wrote:ffilz wrote:I want to also make it clear, I think everyone's character is far enough along that we can start some role play in the Gimpy's thread.
