Chapter 3: The Lord's House
Re: Chapter 3: The Lord's House
Constables init: [1d20] = 3
Alright, we need personality checks from at least Aurs and Fiemar. Aurs, keeping yourself "out of it" will be DC 10. Getting them to accept you as a noble in these circumstances is DC 15 (this might be useful for deciding the situation in a future round). Fiemar, it's a DC 10 to "attach" yourself to Aurs in the minds of the guards, instead of with the other northerners.
Aurs gave me his opening speech, which is enough for the round. We just need the effect of it, for now.
Asle, since you are sort of a target for them (with the peeing) and you are not really actively socially defending yourself, the guards will be moving to apprehend you, especially since another northerner just took off running. On the question of how obvious it is, let's say that you can make it more subtle, generally, by taking a 1 die penalty to your roll. This wouldn't apply to some spell where your stipulation or the effect was super obvious, I guess.
Provisionally, two are going to chase Hlalf for running, two wil be trying to arrest Asle for public urination, and two are dealing with the other two guys.

Re: Chapter 3: The Lord's House
Also, Asle, please give me a strength check to resist being grabbed (which seems like a likely outcome, for this round)

Hlalf
Upon hearing Raamiz and Shmehk say something in the local tongue, Hlalf simply shouts in North Speak, "RUN."
Are we around a corner of the house or in some other position that Hlalf could ambush the constables chasing him?

We're still working on that first round resolution. Speaking of which, please give me a d20 roll, modified by agility for being chasedWintermute wrote:Hlalf

I should note that my cry would have been in Low Lankhmarese, just because I assume that's the most common language in the city.

Aura Bonne
Per [1d20] = 18
If they recognize my nobility:
Per [1d24] = 14
His goal is to understand why they are here. Were they called, hired, or patrolling. Aurs will sort of stand up for one person by me, just to not get him clubbed. But he does not like or trust him yet and will try to get rid of him as soon as possible
The one peeing, he is on his own for now. Unless the guards go too far.

Re: Chapter 3: The Lord's House
Round 1 (part 1)
The constables approach the group, and some of them are drawing out their clubs, while some come in attempting to grab you.
Aurs stands up straight, hoping to establish his authority over the constables, as a young nobleman, and this works. They recognize him as an important person, and leave him alone, but do not afford the same recognition to Fiemar, who they connect more immediately to the other Northmen.
Two constables take off running after Hlalf. Seeing that things are going sideways, Asle casts his spell, and a bit of gentle music fills the air. The spell effects one of the constables, entrancing him, but it has an additional effect on Fiemar, who recognizes it as a song his mother sang to him as a child, and which he hums to himself when he is stressed.
One constable makes a grab for Asle, but shockingly, he trips over a cobblestone, and goes down hard. The entranced constable starts laughing at this, eyes creepily wide, and moves to help his fellow constable up. The other two constables still with the group reach to grab at Aurs and Fiemar in the chaos of the moment.
One of the constables makes a grab for Fiemar (beat a 9 to avoid being grabbed), while the other bows his head to Aurs, and asks him "Excuse us, My Lord, this will just take a moment..."
One of the two constables that starts to chase after Hlalf pauses, his billy club tangled up in his belt. The other is fast, though, and reaches up to Hlalf and grabs at him, trying to immobilize him (can you beat a 21?).
Meanwhile, in the back, Shmehk and Raamiz see the Northman come running, chased by the constable, but they also see a rusty padlock lying on the ground next to the back door of the house.
Ok, given that poor personality check, and the speed of the running constable, if Hlalf and Fiemar can give me strength rolls to resist being grabbed by the constables, that would be super
Asle and Aurs don't need to roll to resist being grabbed, as you see.
Constable grabs at Asle: [1d20+2] = 1+2 = 3 (fumble...)
Fumble: [1d8] = 2 (trip...)
Reflex Save: [1d20+1] = 2+1 = 3 (falling on ground!)
Constable grabs at Aurs: [1d20+2] = 7+2 = 9 (not being grabbeed any more)
Constable grabs at Fiemar : [1d20+2] = 7+2 = 9
Constable Chases Hlalf: [1d20+1] = 1+1 = 2 (wow!)
Fumble: [1d8] = 6 (gets weapon tangled... stops chasing)
Constable Chases Hlalf: [1d20+1] = 11+1 = 12
Constable grabs at Hlalf: [1d20+2] = 19+2 = 21

Re: Chapter 3: The Lord's House
how far away is the back door? could we reach it this round while the constabulary are busy?
Re: Chapter 3: The Lord's House
Yes, if you want to leave these guys to it, you can totally reach the back door.shaidar wrote:how far away is the back door? could we reach it this round while the constabulary are busy?
Re: Chapter 3: The Lord's House
Shmehk catches Raamiz' attention and gestures towards the door, a questioning look on his face.

Hlalf
Can I use a mighty deed on a strength roll? If not here is my escape roll:
Strength Test: [1d20+1] = 18+1 = 19
I will spend my 2 fleeting luck and one normal luck to fend him off, unless I can roll my deed die to push the constable to the ground, in which case here is a d3:
Deed die to knock constable prone: [1d3] = 2
Not a success, but maybe it adds to the strength, roll...to which I could add 1 fleeting luck.
Just want to get all the rolls out of the way, your call on if the deed roll counts of course.

Re: Chapter 3: The Lord's House
Hrmmm, since it is, basically, wrestling, I'll let you use your deed die to add to your roll to resist being grabbed, so it would just be one fleeting luck to stay free (but not to grab back/knock him over).
If you resist the grab, do you want to take an action against him (like knock him down)? You can roll an attack roll (complete with a new deed die roll) to try to push him to the ground, if you want.
Constable resists Hlalf's knockdown: [1d20+2] = 6+2 = 8

Unarmed attack: [1d20+1] = 7+1 = 8, subdual damage [1d3+1] = 1+1 = 2, deed [1d3] = 3 (knock prone) 11 to hit total, 5 subdual damage.
The constable locks arms around Hlalf, who mightily bursts free, and brings his elbow towards the man's chin in an attempt to send him sprawled to the cobblestones.

The constable has an AC 13, if you would really like to land this blow...

Re: Chapter 3: The Lord's House
I will spend 1 more fleeting and 1 normal luck. I'm hoping that I can follow the others into the house and avoid immediate capture or more conflict with the constables.
Re: Chapter 3: The Lord's House
Raamiz nods and ducks quickly toward the door.
Raamiz will try the door, and assuming that no one is immediately visible, try to find a place to hide in order to get the drop on anyone following.

Re: Chapter 3: The Lord's House
How violent are the constables acting? Are they behaving within reason?
If all is within proper law keeping behavior, Aurs will stand up for his self declared servant and state he has been here long enough to notice no relationship with the other northerner.
At the very least, this one does seem as much of a threat at the moment and the constables should focus their energies on the others.
