Galanthas does exactly as Greff, dropping his bow and charging with his longsword:

To hit with long sword [1d20] = 10; damage with long sword [1d8] = 7
Don't worry, LTibbles.

The Cave
Sunday, 7th of Goodmonth

Ren squeezes his eyes shut so tight that it starts to give him a headache. "Don't look at her guys! That's how she killed Stump!" He swings again at the disguised hag, but being completely blinded, his attack misses badly.

Greff and Galanthas drop their bows, ignoring the warning from Ren. They both charge the attractive young woman, just as she starts to change. Her soft, female features begin to contort and twist as she transforms from a gorgeous young girl to a hideous old hag in mere seconds, right before your eyes. She seems to be enjoying the festivities tremendously and she isn't afraid to ham it up as she continues.

"It was nice of you all to stop by. I only wish I could have been a bit more hospitable. With so many nice big strong men around, we could have had some real fun inside. Oh well, it looks like I will be eating good for a while now at least, so thanks for the free nourishment."

Wes tries to run through the deep sand, hoping to get into the battle before someone else is killed. He finds that running in the soft sand slows him down to about 1/4 of his normal movement rate. Passing by the sleeping terror on the sand, he makes it just over half way there as the battle starts to heat up.

The disgusting hag pulls a dagger from her waist and is about to gut the blind Ren when the others charge her. Galanthas distracts her with a miss as Greff cuts into her with his sword. She cries out in pain as green blood pours from her fresh wound, proving that she can actually be hurt with steel. Her reaction to the blow is swift and harsh.

She lets Ren go and grabs Greff's arm instead. Her strength is astonishing and the ranger finds it hard to shake himself free from her grasp. She smiles a rotten toothed grin as she starts sweet talking Greff next.

"I see that you aren't the kind of person who is afraid to die, big boy. Well.......this is what you get when you mess with one of my kind." She stares directly into the humans eyes, trying to pull him as close as possible with her unnatural strength. I will need a Save vs. Death in your next post, please. :?

Galanthas

Seeing that the Hag is distracted with Greff, Galanthas tries to flank her and sink his sword into the fiends neck!

To hit with long sword [1d20] = 9; damage with long sword [1d8] = 6
Hopefully there will be a miracle with those bonuses... Because, oh man, not a single successful roll!

:( Sorry dude!
Wes

Realizing that things will go from really, really bad to catastrophic if the sand worm wakes up, Wes pauses in his run to deal with it. He looks at the beast's carapace at the back of it's head, looking for a weak spot to drive his spear into. If he fails to find one, he decides he'll ram his spear through the creature's eye and skewer it's brain that way.

Galanthas fears he may be the next one to fall to this horrible abomination. He sees that Greff is in trouble, so he tries to get around to the side of the hag to stick her with his blade. She bats his strike aside easily with one arm and informs the elf of her intentions.

"You'll be next, skinny! Once I've eaten this one, that is!"

Ren swings again wildly, still refusing to open his eyes to face the beast. This time his blow almost hits Galanthas.

Greff spits into the face of death itself as he is drawn in close by the powerful, hideous monster. The warts and boney facial protrusions that cover the hags green scaled, sickly yellow skin are frightening to behold. Her long seaweed-like hair hangs limply from her wrinkled head and her red eyes with black pupils are akin to staring into a deadly abyss. Greff suddenly goes limp in the beasts arms as she pulls him in closer for a taste of his manflesh. (Ok, this is the really important one. Give me a percentile roll next, please. You want to roll high!)

Wes takes a wiser course of action, stopping his advance towards the others at the last second. Knowing that his friends likely wont survive their encounter with the hag, he is certain that none of them will live through this if the hag's huge pet is allowed to awaken. He climbs up on the sleeping sand monster's hard carapace and drives his spear into the back of the things neck, severing its spine and killing it instantly.

As the huge worm squirms and dies in the sand, the hag reacts loudly. "NNNOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!! YOU SON OF A KRAKEN!!! YOU'LL BE NEXT TO DIE THEN!!!" She screams as she tosses the limp body of Greff against the cliff wall behind her and lunges in the druids direction. 2 dam

Wes

Hearing the hag's reaction, Wes jumps down from the creature's back and takes off towards the jungle again. He's scared by the evil creature's threat, knowing that she can kill with just a glance. But he's also confident that he can even up the odds back among the trees.

It doesn't stop him from petitioning Obad-Hai's support as he runs.

In Search Of Dragons!
The Cave

Greff’s eyes burn from the horrific sight still implanted upon his vision. He somehow still draws weak breath in his otherwise catatonic state, but he finds that he cannot move himself from the deep sand at the base of the cliffs. In fact, his current condition prevents him from moving at all.

Galanthas and Ren swing again at the powerful sea witch, but neither are able to do any damage as she turns to chase the druid who just killed her prized pet.

Wes hears the threats from the hag and immediately takes off running back towards the trees, certain she means what she says about killing him next. Since he hasn’t been able to hurt her yet, she ignores Galanthas completely, giving him a free attack when she leaves his side to give chase.

“YOU KILLED MY SLINKY, YOU BASTARD! NOW YOURE GONNA DIE!!!”

She doesn’t seem to be slowed down while running through the soft sand of her private beach, so she catches up with the druid before he can reach the jungle’s tree line. She grabs for his shoulder as he runs away, trying to spin him around to get a closer look into his eyes.

Ren hears the hag’s voice leaving his area so he risks opening his eyes for a split second. Seeing the groups leader being chased now, he knows that killing this monstrosity is the only way any of them are getting out of this alive. Thinking for a second that Wes has also figured this out, he believes that is why the druid is trying to lure her away from the safety of her horrible cave. So, he rushes after the monster with his sword held high, hoping to be able to cut her down before she can turn around to look at him.

Baldorar: Please make an attack of opportunity roll and post it with the action you want to take this round. None of you can move as fast as the hag through the sand, so you won’t catch her in time to make another attack on her this round.

LtTibbles: Greff is alive, though he is paralyzed with fear and unable to act. But only for the next three days. :?

Galanthas

Frustrated and enraged as he sees how all his attacks are futile Galanthas doesn't desist, he grunts while swinging his long sword again and tries again to slash the witch's back!

To hit with long sword [1d20] = 16; damage with long sword [1d8] = 5

After that, the elf goes back to grab his bow. His intentios are to fire at the with from a distance while staying besides Greff, seeing that he cannot move. Don't worry, Greff, I'll stay here! He feels how his words tremble as he says them, not sure how he would defend themselves at all in case the hag turns back to them.

Wes

Knowing that the hag will tackle him at any moment, Wes decides on a drastic measure. First he drops his spear and shield. Then he jams his heels into the sand and stops dead, dropping into a ball and covering as he does.

Galanthas strikes the hag hard as she takes off after the druid. She is so enraged by the killing of her worm, she doesn’t even flinch at the wound.

While switching back to his bow, he moves over to the side of Greff, stoically protecting the otherwise doomed ranger.

Wes trudges through the deep sand, trying to get back to the safety of the trees. The bleeding hag skips across the top of the beach at easily twice the druids speed, catching up to him quickly. As she reaches out to grab him, Wes drops to his knees and takes the shape of a ball, protecting his head with his arms. Her momentum prevents the hag from stopping in time and suddenly the unsuspecting leathered up old hag is hurtling head over heels towards the tree line. She plops down in the sand a few feet away from the druid as Ren rushes up from behind to stab at her still glowing form with his sword.

Galanthas

Galanthas does as he can to fire two arrows to the prone hag without too much risk of hitting his companions.

To hit with short bow [1d20] = 1; damage with short bow [1d6] = 2
I. Knew. This. Had. To. Happen.
To hit with short bow [1d20] = 19; damage with short bow [1d6] = 4
I post both attacks just in case, but I'm aware that that one may nullify the second attack.

Wes

Wes shakes his head to clear it from the effects of the impact. He climbs to his feet, wincing, and grabs a handful of sand as he does so. Drawing his club, he strides over to the hag and takes a swing from behind.

Club [1d20] = 9; S/M [1d6] = 2; L [1d3] = 2
Hopefully the +2 for Faerie Fire and +2 for rear attack make that a hit. :?

The tumbling hag picks herself up off the sand as Wes and Ren charge in to slay the beast. The druid is unable to damage her with his swing, but Ren cuts another wide gash into her as she tries to get her bearings. (I couldn't give you the rear attack bonus)

She pulls out her dagger again, taking a swing at Ren this time, wishing to save her final death stare for the bastard who killed her pet. You can see her look back to her cave a few times as she fights, maybe wishing she wasn't so far from the safety of her centuries old hiding place. Her threatening comments seem to have stopped as well. Her dagger attack misses the hired fighter, but she is able to position herself in front of Wes next as she spins around in the sand. Ren closes his eyes again, glad he isn't dead yet.

Galanthas wants to keep Greff safe, but he doesn't seem as concerned for the safety of his other friends when he fires off 2 bow shots into the distant melee. Within the constant movement of the battle, neither arrow hit its intended mark. The first one sticks Wes in his back. 2 dam And the second one hits Ren in the shoulder. 4 dam
I try to strongly discourage firing missiles into melee in any of my 1E games. Have you ever read those rules? They are as deadly for the party as they are confusing.
Ren shouts out in pain blindly once he is stuck by the elf's arrow.

"Ouch! Watch out Wes! She must have hired archers shooting at us from the cliffs or something!"

Dammit! That was me! I'm sorry. The elf, wanting to keep his word to Greff and feeling completely powerless after his two disastrous, doesn't attack any more. He studies his surroundings though, in order to see if someone or something might be lurking around.

Wes

Wes grunts in surprise and pain as he's struck by the arrow, but he's still winded and bruised from the collision with the hag, and barely notices it.

Seeing that the hag is focusing her attention on him, he starts to circle to the right so that her back will be exposed to Ren once again. Then, as he flails away at her with his club, he feints to one side and tosses his handful of sand into the hag's eyes, hoping to blind her.
A 'just in case' roll, if an attack is allowed at the same time as throwing the sand.
