During awake-time, Zefarrel will either be by the table north of where her "Z" is on the map, or hanging out with Elitir (50/50). During sleep-time, she will be in the closet.

I'll prep some more heal spells in the morning, and after casting 1 on each of the fighters, I say we move on. How about the portal between the wood door & the metal door?

Mac

Quite used to staying put for hours on end, Mac is happy to agree with the party. He spends his time writing in his book, using the large table for a surface. "I had this wonderful idea for a group activity. Everyone creates an alter persona of a fantasy world. One could be a scribe, or a teacher or even a letter carrier." He motions to the table. "One member creates a setting, such as travelling to a town, and we act as our alter personas would act. I plan on calling it Mortgages and Managers."

Grossphil the Feeble

Grossphil wholeheartedly agrees that Finnigan and Sprig should move those dead bodies. He moves to sit with Elitir, since like Grossphil she doesn't appear to want to touch the dead bodies, just outside that wooden door on the map. "Remind me not to let Finnigan or Sprig touch me any time soon after they handle those dead bodies. I mean those berserkers clearly experienced something that drove them delirious, which certainly could trigger some traumatic experiences. And even in dead bodies, trauma can cause outbreaks of typhoid fever, cholera, the plague..." Grossphil continues to ramble on while the others move the bodies.

For the rest of the day (until something apparently happens), Grossphil will stay fairly close to Elitir at the wooden door and watch the north most black portal in case something comes. He recommends Elitir keep watch over a different direction and they can alert each other if something comes through either entrance.

Sprig pauses in his search of the perimeter and turns unseen, towards Mac at the table. ”Hmmm. I don’t know, Mac. Could you play something more exciting, like an assistant chef? Or maybe go against type and be a repairman of some sort who shows up on time? Something like that?”

Zefarrel: Mac, that sounds incredibly boring. We should decide on who is on watch when we sleep. I volunteer for 3rd shift.

Kitchen
First Morning Inside

The long day of waiting commences as the party goes about their business in this kitchen. Sprig looks all around the place for anything that might have been missed initially. He finds no new secrets, so he joins Mac at the table and the two of them toss ideas around about how to pass the time in here.

Finnigan drags the dead bodies into the freezer and covers the blood pool, some of it his own, with a big bag of cornstarch. The others take their places around the main room and keep a watch on each of the 4 black portals. Mac keeps talking to the invisible gnome about something called NPC's.

Zefarrel isn't impressed with the mage's idea. She suggests going through the western portal in the morning, thinking that they better not press their luck by staying in the same place too long. She agrees to take third watch once everyone is ready to sleep again, in about 15 more hours.

A short while after breakfast, the group is startled by a familiar looking head that suddenly pokes through the eastern portal. It appears to be one of the leather clad thieves that accosted you when you first arrived in here. Once the head pokes through, the rest of his body seems to be pulled through along with it and suddenly the human is standing there looking at each of you with a slightly panicked expression. He looks throughout the room quickly before turning around again, apparently ready to go back through the black void.

Mac

A thought forces its way into Mac's head. He can almost hear someone imploring him to act. Without realizing it, Mac points his hand at the newcomer and casually rolls his fingers. "Wait! Don't Leave! There is no need to run."

Mac will attempt to Charm the thief

Elitir

As Mac speaks out Elitir brings herself into a combat stance and readies her sword and shield in case whatever the mage is trying fails. If he moves into the room aggressively she will attempt to cut him off.

Turning from the table Sprig will quietly, quietly unwind his sling and place a bullet in it... just in case. He want to avoid spoiling his invisibility so soon if at all possible. He finds he's come to enjoy it.

Zefarrel: (realizing she won't have 5 segments to cast a spell before the thief goes back through, and hoping Mac's works)... Wait, you may never be seen again if you go back through that portal. That's what happened to one of our people.

Finnigan and Elitir stand ready to attack if necessary.

Mac suddenly gets an idea. He quickly calls out to the intruder as he intones his magical words of charm upon him. He tells him not to leave just as he is about to step back through. Zefarrel calls out as well, trying to frighten the man into stopping.

Somehow, the thief does stop, then slowly turns to look at Mac. Hearing the words of the priestess, he starts to chuckle to himself, keeping very near to the portal.

"Do you mean your little hafling friend? Oh don't worry. He's fine. Not really."

He turns back to Mac and continues. "How is it that I know you?"

Fairly certain the thief is ensorcelled, Sprig relaxes slightly, but keeps his sling ready in case the second thief makes an appearance as well. He considers pretending to be the ghost of Pumfrey, but decides he has too little information. He waits to see how Mac will handle his new friend.

Grossphil the Feeble

Grossphil is fairly certain the thief Mac charmed can't see invisible so he doesn't want to blow his possible surprise advantage. He'll simply wait and wonder if Mac has some sort of ESP ability since Grossphil had just been silently imploring him to cast charm person. Interesting stuff.

Mac

Mac is accustomed to people recognizing him. After all, the illuminations on the books he has written are a rather good likeness. "Ah yes. You recognize me. I was hoping that you would. Possibly you've seen my picture? Maybe on a tome you've seen?" Mac waves it away. "No matter. I need some assistance in the present. Could you spare a few minutes to talk?"

If he is agreeable to chat:
"How long have you been in this place?"
"Do you know where all these portals go?"
"How many other people are here?"

The thief responds, keeping his position right in front of the portal.

"No, I don't recognize you, but I can chat for a bit, until my brother arrives."

"We have been in here for three weeks now, and yes, we know where these portals lead."

"My brother and I came here to see if this was the real vanishing island that we've read about. Turns out, it is. Unfortunately, now we can't figure out how to get back out of here."

"It's just me and him in our group, though there are other inhabitants of this place. One room has a teleporter that brings more things here if you stay in there too long. That's where the kitchen berserkers came from. We thought you would already be dead since you came in here, but you must be a strong group indeed if you took those two bastards down. They were tough, and that's why they ruled over this place. I see you must have lost a couple of your own as well. By the blood streaks on the floor there, I'd say you pulled their dead bodies into the freezer, yes?"

"It's only temporary, until they've properly aged," Finnigan replies gruffly, licking his lips.

Grossphil the Feeble

Grossphil smirks when the thief mentions that he thinks our group suffered casualties. This effectively confirms the thief cannot see him or Sprig, and Grossphil wants to keep this rouse up.

While Mac and the thief are discussing things, Grossphil will whisper quietly to Elitir (who already knows he is next to her), "Maybe you should pretend that you lost Sprig and I. The thief is clearly untrustworthy, he even said he'll talk till his brother shows up which is a cause for concern. If we can keep him thinking there's only 4 of us, Sprig and I may be able to surprise them if need be."

Elitir

"Yea, we pulled them out of sight. Some of my friends here don't do so well with the rotting bodies of there friends. So am I going to have to kill you and your brother or are you thinking of joining us since we are down a pair?"
