Yes, have a merry merry holiday!
Re: OOC Chatter II
Indeed!! I hope everyone has a joyful day. These games are my favorite escapism, but this is a day to reflect on why life is good. It isn't always good, but there is always hope and promise for the future.
Merry Christmas!

Thanks. And does the XP apply to vassals and animal companions, too?All active PCs will gain 750xp and one potion of healing! Please mark the potions into your inventories.
Re: OOC Chatter II
I will give Baxtaw credit for trying so hard to launch an expedition. Don't worry.

Re: OOC Chatter II
Hi all. FYI: I'm still fighting off an upper respiratory infection that let me pretty much bed bound for the past couple days (congestion-related migraine, hacking cough, etc). I've posted a bit, but am probably missing a couple of things. Prod me if anyone is waiting on one of my characters and I'll get to it.
In the meantime, I'll slowly read through threads to see what needs me.
Happy New Year!

Markd has been waiting on you to turn Bremen in to the proper authorities. So get to it.

He's just sitting in the White Tower, nursing a mortally wounded guard from Gaul back to health. (Freaking hippogriffs... Killed the two other gullible fools that followed him.) Come and get him. Better yet, come and help clear the Tower out of all those ghouls. (By the way, I'd like to thank the group for leaving behind a couple of magical weapons.)onlyme wrote:Markd has been waiting on you to turn Bremen in to the proper authorities. So get to it.

Then he's not mortally wounded?

Re: OOC Chatter II
Depends on how strict you are with the definition, I suppose. The wounds were grievous enough that the hireling would have died without being stabilized and cared for. No matter the word use, the story ends in hero worship and the firstborn being named in Lord Commander Bremen's honor.Alethan wrote:Then he's not mortally wounded?
I suppose your a stickler for the correct is of "literally," too.

Is a spyglass available for purchase? And do they have any function in terms of game mechanics?
Also, does the lack of mounts in town mean there aren't ponies, mules, and donkeys, or is the limitation only on horses?

Re: OOC Chatter II
Sure, a spyglass is available. At that cost... wowza! It doesn't have a "mechanical effect" (how would it apply to combat or savings throws, anyway?) but I'd allow a narrative one. There are sometimes things that you need to get closer to see - if you RPed using a spyglass, I'd allow you narrative impact appropriately.
I intend to make more mounts available - assume you can buy them. I'll try to post soon.

Re: OOC Chatter II
Yeah, that's a pretty steep cost for something without a description in the book. I'd think it would make it easier to spot possible random encounters in the wild before they spotted you. Its effectiveness would depend on the terrain and the weather. In the plains, on a clear day, a spyglass should let the user see anyone coming far enough in advance to avoid them. In a rainy forest, it wouldn't help at all.
It might also help with mapping, given a high enough vantage point and a compass.
Or maybe there's no point in owning a spyglass if you don't have a ship.

To me, that's a positive intended effect.Zhym wrote:This seems to be a side effect of imbued heroic weapons: we find powerful stuff and think, "Nah, I'm good," because we already imbued our items with the properties we want them to have.

Re: OOC Chatter II
Bremen and Able didn't start with imbued items, but Clay and Winnie started with items that allowed improved foraging and summoning, respectively. I had assumed they would find magic weapons eventually.
Seeing Bremen's imbued sword (+1 vs undead) get set aside makes me rethink imbuing weapons, for sure. I've been imbuing backpacks, cloaks, amulets, etc, while hoping for fancy weapons. I figure a backpack of holding is just about 32,0001 XP.
