Re: Chapter 1: A New Dawn for New Dathan
Flynn raps the kneeling captive on the shoulder with his sword. "Now is not the time for silence." he says. "Speak!"
Re: Chapter 1: A New Dawn for New Dathan
The man on his knees just looks up and spits at Flynn. After he sees the reaction he wanted, the bandit smiles and says. "Well, we made a bad call, and now two of our men are dead. Damned luck was not on our side today. Got nothin' else to say other than if you are going to kill me, do it now and get it over with." He squints his eyes in a challenging manner.
Re: Chapter 1: A New Dawn for New Dathan
Eric walks toward the group, observing the conversation, reaching for another sprig on mistletoe.
As he approaches, he quickly whispers a spell before starting conversation with the man.
"Easy now friend, is that anyway to talk to your saviors?"
OOC: charm person.

Suffice to say, the hardened criminal does not see Eric in a new light, nor does he consider his current treatment the work of saviors. The man's will is strong, and his silence only broken by the sounds of his growls.

You are guilty of Murder, tell us what we want to know and by the All gather I will see your life spared by our hands.
Re: Chapter 1: A New Dawn for New Dathan
"And have us killed by another set? Yes, I know the laws of this land. There is no place for the likes of us, cept' in a hole in the ground. The All Father has no power over our fate! Our eyes are open to the truths of this world. We shall make everyone see wh-"

The man stops his rant abruptly, his challenging smile quickly turning upside. His face takes on pale color as if all blood just drained from his face and a cold sweat starts to trickle down his temple. He shakes his head slowly, then very quickly, trying to deny what is before him. "N-no, no! Stay away! I- *he starts to sob* I said nothing! You can't! NOOOO!!!!" The man is screaming at this point, desperately kicking away at the ground, pushing himself backward, trying to get away. You follow the man's eyes and try to see what he sees. You see nothing, hear nothing, feel nothing out of the ordinary.

Elethil steps forward and places a hand on the man's shoulder. "Infernus defensio," he chants. "Protego calibro. Varyaio ulca."
Cast protection from evil.
Dunno if that will break the control of whatever is affecting him, but it's worth a shot.

Re: Chapter 1: A New Dawn for New Dathan
Mehath sneaks up behind the man hidden by illusion and delivers a blow to stun/knock him out so he can be taken as a prisoner.
submission damage
Long Sword, to hit [1d20+4] = 12+4 = 16, damage [1d8+4] = 5+4 = 9
(OOC: if my thief back attack applies it will be 20 to hit, 18 submission damage)

Re: Chapter 1: A New Dawn for New Dathan
The remaining spellcaster is bound and gagged, the last sword-wielding criminal faints from a spurt of extreme terror, and the large boulders surrounding the roadway starts to dissipate. Underneath one of the boulders is Mehath standing over another, what looks to be, spellcaster.
The Iron Glade Man looks around uneasily, unnerved by the false rocks and blatant casting of magics. "There was another one inside the rocks?! By the gods, this day keeps on getting stranger..." He sheaves his blade and starts to walk over to the bound spellcaster near Elithil and Akabel, trying to get a better look at the man's clothing. he is wary though and keeps a safe distance, not quite sure what will spring up next. "He's knocked out, right? What should we do with these men?" The look in his eyes says that he knows exactly what he wants to do to them, his hand clenching the hilt of his blade tightly, but his silence shows deference to what the majority may want instead.
-----
XP will be calculated when the trip to Iron Glade is finished

Elethil, seemingly having wasted a spell, frowns. "Perhaps this is not the most appropriate place for further questioning."

Flynn nods to the tree line off the road. "Tie him to a tree and let him test his stubbornness on the wolves.
It's too long a walk to drag a prisoner." he turns to wink at the party so that the prisoner can't see.

Re: Chapter 1: A New Dawn for New Dathan
Mehath will bind and gag his prisoner, also search him to see what he has on him.
Re: Chapter 1: A New Dawn for New Dathan
perhaps we make two watch as we burn the other at the stake. that may loosen their tongues.
Re: Chapter 1: A New Dawn for New Dathan
"No," says Elethil forcefully, his yellow cat eyes narrowing. "There will be no torture. Nor will we leave them tied up for the wolves. We serve light, not darkness. Bring them with us for questioning elsewhere, or kill them here, quickly and mercifully." He draws his sword, ready to execute the second option if necessary.
Rukellian—was the sword-wielder already passed out by the time Elethil could have tried to cast his spell? Elethil wouldn't have bothered if the man were already unconscious.

Re: Chapter 1: A New Dawn for New Dathan
I will say that Elithil would have refrained from using the spell, seeing the man pass out from fright.
The group does have a few neutrals, but none are chaotic and none are evil. As the DM I will be keeping track of this. For the record, the Iron Glade Man seems like the honorable sort, law-abiding. This should go without saying, but if you all choose to do things that are clearly evil, there will be consequences, some subtle, others not so much (decreased xp gain, faulty information obtained, bad luck encounters...)
-----
Mehath's search of the man he found in the boulder illusion reveals that he was a magic user of sorts. Hooded robes, no weapons, and few odd ingredients on hand are all that are found. The robes themselves, however, are quite unique, at least in these lands. An insignia is painted on the hood, covering the eyes of the man's face. The insignia looks like a pentagon with a closed eye situated in the center of the design, a keyhole where the eye's pupil would be if open.

(we can still bluff without facing alignment change I think )
Re: Chapter 1: A New Dawn for New Dathan
The IronGlade Man's patience runs dry. "Fine," he barks out loud. He brings a blade down upon the sword-wielder, a quick death. He then proceeds in hefting one of the bound and gagged mages up onto his shoulder and throws him into a burnt cart. "If you want to question them both, I suggest you pile them into these carts. The fine folk who were using them won't be needing them anymore." He eyes the burnt corpses with a pained look.
"Once we reach Iron Glade, we can dump them at the jailhouse there for proper questioning." The man grabs onto the wooden polls that would have normally been attached to horse harness and lifts them himself. The cart is badly damaged and looks ready to fall apart at a moment's notice, but it beats carrying them all the way over a shoulder. He looks ready to leave this burnt place and continue the journey.
