Expedition: Earc/Guhra's Tower - 15 July 2021
Re: Expedition: Earc/Guhra's Tower - 15 July 2021
Yes it was all the one find; the place that the Beith Meetinghouse now is built. No worries: I think you are all still continuing on - Casper's take from that adventure was the journals of the Dwarven scholar... He's worried about his ability to remain active and he was sitting on this pile of story information, so he did a big knowledge drop. You are now all collectively keepers of these plot points with him.
Is Earc recruiting dwarves, Winnie recruiting mercs, or both?

Re: Expedition: Earc/Guhra's Tower - 15 July 2021
If Earc and Olaf have basically the same odds of recruiting dwarves, I can have Olaf do it. Might be quicker.
Re: Expedition: Earc/Guhra's Tower - 15 July 2021
I think that's thematic and he won't mind. I like Olaf running his own little cluster of Vanguard.
You can try to hire up to four guys. Decide how many you are willing to take as a max and post it. Then post that many recruiting rolls (per book p. 46, re-roll each until high/low enough.) Each takes a full-share treasure and a half-share XP. They can be heavy infantry or heavy crossbowmen (p. 48).

Re: Expedition: Earc/Guhra's Tower - 15 July 2021
Question for the group: how many dwarves do we want vs. fighters? I'm assuming we don't need high level full-share fighters to guard the mounts, so we're just looking for full-fledged members of the fighting group. What's the max we're willing to split treasure and XP with? Two? Three? If we assume Olaf has about a 50/50 chance of recruiting any given dwarf, recruiting three would probably get us one or two, with some risk of three or zero.

Re: Expedition: Earc/Guhra's Tower - 15 July 2021
No, Guhra's tower is a problem for the dwarves and aligned with their interests, so their is no penalty. Since it is a dwarven structure, a promise to turn the site over to them once reclaimed would get you a bonus.

We could keep on track if Olaf wants to take lead until I'm back in the states. I do have concerns about not having a cleric if Hedgeknight is on a 1/week forum check and plans on a hiatus starting in December. I don't want to leave without a cleric in the group, PC or NPC - doesn't matter which.

So.... Any recruiting?
Re: Expedition: Earc/Guhra's Tower - 15 July 2021
I was going to let someone kibitz on how many dwarves to recruit, and maybe wait longer than the weekend to give people a chance to reply.

How about three?Marullus wrote:So.... Any recruiting?

I'll try for three. Wish me luck in not getting all of them.

We'd better be careful with Drunil. He looks pretty fragile for a dwarf. And I doubt Funil would take it kindly if we got his son killed on the mission!Marullus wrote:The foreman looks impressed. "An' we keep the watchtower?" He nods, calling in two sturdy dwarves, one with a bald pate and one with a receding hairline. "This is Funil and his son, Drunil; they've got a grudge against the goblins and will be eager to help."

Clay is about to broach that subject with the head of the Blackhelm clan. I'll let you know how it goes.Zhym wrote: And I doubt Funil would take it kindly if we got his son killed on the mission

Halfpint asks the group what she may need to purchase for the trip. She lost her lantern and rope she had previously. Does she need to replace them, or do others have enough?

Fingers...is not on this mission. I need to do a better job keeping my PCs straight.

Winnie is better equipped for a walk in the park. She has a scroll case, parchment, ink and quills, a bed roll, candles, rations, oil and 2 small sacks. And a dagger, darts and a dog.
She has 5 gp to pitch in on supplies and can carry a few items without getting slowed down.

Bianca doesn't look much different from Winnie on this instance. Her staff and the fancy looking dagger on her belt. Several pouches scattered about her person. What they or her backpack contain are anyone's guess.

OOC: So it sounds like Hedgeknight might not be able to fully participate in the venture. I sent him a PM. I want to make sure we have a cleric before we head out, whether it is a PC or an NPC.
If we don't have a cleric, then we're not going. Or Earc's not going, anyway... it's a silly venture to go out without healing.

Ain't that the truth!

So.... Who is rolling up a cleric?
Re: Expedition: Earc/Guhra's Tower - 15 July 2021
No thanks. Too many weird rules for clerics for me.
