"Stupid man! Your death wish will be the end of you." Bonnie curses her "friend" and hesitates just a moment with what she knows she must do. In that moment, she is quite surprised to see Wes do the deed.
"Hurry Krystal! He may only have seconds left!" Bonnie keeps her torch at the ready.

Realizing he may not be able to free his weapon quick enough, he removes the axe from his back and hurriedly swings at the shambling creature. Unfortunately, the balance is much different than that of his preferred weapon, causing him to swing awkwardly, missing the monster completely.

Re: Quest #6 "Return To The River"
Outside The Hut, Round 10
The Communal Meeting Place
Mid-night, Cooler and Less Humid
Pitch Black and Even More Buggy
Ferris quickly fires another bolt at the monsters legs, luckily not hitting Keilif by mistake. This bolt also finds the target but disappears into the things loose, hanging skin. No longer seeing the bolt, the gnome has no idea if he even damaged the creature. Mighty Brufrig pulls and pulls, but his halberd does not break free. He leaves it hang and grabs his ax instead. His attack misses completely, but at least his ax isn’t stuck too now.
The sour smelling monster plows past the others as it continues pummeling at the trapped priest’s head with its sticky fists. 2 dam It is not moving very fast, but it seems intent to escape this fight while dragging the priest into the jungle along with it. Keilif struggles and moans loudly as he tries in vain to free himself from this strange sticky creature. The more he struggles, the worse he becomes stuck to it. The whole scene might look fairly comical, if not for the fact that the group’s main healer is currently being suffocated to death.
Krystal suggests roping the thing with her grappling hook. She races back towards the hut where Franny is still keeping watch over the whole bizarre encounter. Bonnie feels the poison in her system wane as she stares on in disbelief at the foolish antics of the overzealous priest now stuck in place and dying. Just as she steps forward to do the dirtiest of deeds, she is surprised to see the druid beat her to the unpleasant maneuver. Waes moves closer to the fight, thrusting his torch forward enough to ignite the oil that is covering the monsters back. As soon as the open flame touches the oil, the monsters entire back becomes engulfed in flames. It screeches out in obvious pain, the first sounds this thing has made so far. The shrieking is so powerful that it hurts your ears and it is loud enough to overcome the usual din of the nighttime jungle. The burning monster stops moving towards the trees and begins flailing around trying to figure out what is happening to it.

Re: Quest #6 "Return To The River"
Waes intones a prayer to the forces of nature, asking for the priests spirit to be protected and reincarnated into its higher state. Be brave my friend, your noble sacrifice will not be in vain" he says stepping back to put some distance between him and the monster. He will pluck another oil flask out of his pack and prepared to douse the creature when it's flames eventually begin to die off.
Surround the creature my friends, at a distance. Those with more flasks of oil prepare to douse it when the flames weaken. Mundane weapons don't seem to harm it so save your breath. My the flames of the burning sun expunge it's darkness."

Bonnie
Bonnie relaxes slightly as the poison seems to have run its course, then winces as the creature wails and screams. She shouts at those nearby "This thing is going to wake the entire jungle! Keep an eye out for anything it attracts."
She keeps her torch out and tries to move between the creature and the forest, while looking about for a long stick or small tree she can cut to make a pole.(of the 10' variety)

Franny watches as the flames spread on the creature. She runs out by the others and if needed readies an oil flask for the monster.

If you burn the creature, you'll burn the priest! Brufrig yells to the rest of the group, as he attacks with his axe again, trying to avoid hitting Keilf.

runs close to the fiery mummy and the suffocating priest. She look for a place on the priest that she can hook one part of the grapnel, perhaps through a belt and then tells folk to join her in a tug or war for Keiliff.

will assist in the priestly tug of war, trying to pull the glued up Keiliff from the sticky bandages of the fiery mummy. I would have tried to use some alcohol to maybe rinse the glue away and peel the priest off the creature but I think it might just envelope the cleric in flames instead.

Re: Quest #6 "Return To The River"
Outside The Hut, Round 11
The Communal Meeting Place
Mid-night, Cooler and Less Humid
Pitch Black and Even More Buggy
The beast continues to flail around as the flesh on its back burns and bubbles. Franny and Waes prepare more oil flasks and get into position to throw them onto the existing flames before they abate.
Brufrig doesn't particularly care much for the priest, but he doesn't want to see him burned to death, either. He ignores the flames and swings at the burning monster, missing it completely for the second straight time.
Bonnie and Krystal bravely maneuver in front of the retreating mummy-thing as it heads towards the forest. Krystal hooks her grapnel around the thick leather belt that Keilif hangs his mace from. With some help from the tuff gnome, Krystal pulls on the rope with all of her might.
The sticky mummy continues to shriek as it burns, shambling in the direction of the jungle despite the physical barricades in its way. The sickly sour odor surrounding it suddenly gets much, much worse, assailing your nostrils and burning your sinuses like acid. A sickly gooey pus begins to run out of the flappy skin folds of the beast. Brufrig's halberd suddenly drops to the ground and the flames covering its back begin to sputter and wane. The grip it had on the sea priest is also released. Ferris and Krystal are easily able to pull him free once his unmoving form falls face first into the dirt.
Outnumbered and still smoldering, the stinking creature seems to have realized that it is grave danger. Despite having to give up its large meal, It now seems content to try to push past the adventurers and flee back into the jungle.

A sigh of relief escapes her mouth as Keilif falls to the ground. "Excellent work you two!" Her joy is short-lived as she realizes that the creature is fleeing.
Bonnie waits until the oil is tossed, then reaches out and lights the creature with her torch. "Burn! Burn!"

reaches into one of his pouches and pulls out a bottle of rum, his last token from the boat. He uses it to wash away the sticky glue which may have stuck the priests tongue to his mouth (though with his preaching that might not be such a bad thing) and tries to get him breathing again at least. He hopes the raw alcohol will rinse away the glue better than trying to create a lather of soap and water."Did he say he was into prohibition?", the gnome asks saving he last dreg and 'glig of grog for himself.
inventory adjusted.

doesn't attack the creature, content to watch it burn and turn to flee into the jungle. She scans the jungle treeline to spot any creatures drawn by the mummy's wailing. She is still willing to follow it at a comfortable distance to track it to its' lair if it survives the fires long enough.

Outside The Hut, Round 12
The Communal Meeting Place
Mid-night, Cooler and Less Humid
Pitch Black and Even More Buggy
Brifrig keeps up his relentless attacks on the fleeing monster. He nearly trips over his own halberd and the one other mystery sword that fell off of the beast when it released its own non-stick putrid puss, hoping to escape. The trip causes the dwarfs attack to fall short of the target.
Franny chucks an oil flask at the retreating monster, missing it wide right and luckily missing the head of Brufrig as well. The flask flies off harmlessly into the shrubbery. Her main concern is moving in to help the downed cleric. (you are all free to make your own rolls when posting actions like this) Waes sees the monster trying to get away so he walks up to it fairly casually and splashes the contents of his oil flask onto the things still smoldering back. The fire begins to blaze again once Bonnie tags it with her torch as it passes her. In an instant the fire is restored to its full fury as the monster begins to wail again loudly from the sheer pain of it all. It stumbles a bit this time as it flees into the bush. Its back smokes excessively and is now glowing as bright as a raging inferno. Despite its now serious injuries, it seems to move with some purpose, but shouldn’t be too difficult to follow at its fairly average pace. Krystal does not attack it as it passes her, content to follow it back to its lair if she can. She sees no other life forms in the distance other than the swarms of insects which populate the entire jungle and are now beginning to surround the party.
Ferris and Franny quickly try to assist Keilif, hoping to find him still breathing. The man’s entire head and face is covered with gloppy white goo, making it impossible for him to breath. Ferris pulls out his bottle of strong rum and begins cleaning the sticky glue from around the mouth and nose of the priest, essentially saving his life in the process. The priest snaps out of his funk and inhales a huge gulp of air, sucking in 3 mosquitoes and a black fly as he does so. He coughs and sputters as he tries to wipe the rest of the glue from his head. When Keilif looks up, it is obvious that he took some unexpected damage from this monster as his now cleaned off face has turned a pale white and is covered in wrinkles. The gnome and she-dwarf look upon him in horror, afraid to comment on the once good looking young human’s ghostly and ghastly new features. “Is it dead?” is all the priest can think of to say.
Behind the group, the druids wild vegetation enchantment begins to wane as the long weeds and roots fall harmlessly back to the oerth.

Seeing the odd sword fall from the creature, she scoops it up with her free hand. "This was stuck to it. How a sword came to be on this creature on this supposed newly discovered island is something that bears thinking about."
Having temporarily satiated her love of fire, Bonnie is content to enjoy the flames as the creature wanders through the jungle. At a short distance.
"So....follow the leader?"
