Re: Torchbearer/Middarmark?
As a note on the crest Berry wears; whenever someone asks about it, he says it represents a mentor/the person that sent him on the quest.
Now I'm fairly sure Aoife is suspicious and Berry does note that she uses his full name.
I can't wait to actually play this thing out

You guys are apparently awesome. I'll try to get a map up soon.

Re: Torchbearer/Middarmark?
p.s. anyone else having extremely slow response time from unseenservant?
I'm not seeing slow response from other sites....
It's slow enough to be painful

Re: Torchbearer/Middarmark?
I'm not part of the game, but I have been following along with this thread, admiring the fantastic interest and participation in this one so far.
I too have been noticing a lag in the US response time, so I am glad to see that it wasn't something wrong on my end. I hadn't seen that posted anywhere else, so I thought I'd pipe up here. (hope that's ok)
Have fun with the game, everyone!

Re: Torchbearer/Middarmark?
I don't mind for what that's worth. It's cool that people other than the players are interested in the game.
Re: Torchbearer/Middarmark?
I think Dourgrim the Wagoner can stand alone just as well - he's the kind of NPC enemy who can show up inopportunely in any town at the DM's whim. I am sure others will find unpleasant memories to attach to such an unfortunate miserly dwarf throughout play.jhrrsn wrote:I'm not sure about Allric's humourless dwarf, I'm happy to have a loose connection if it serves the story - most dwarves are related somehow, right?

Re: Torchbearer/Middarmark?
If anyone is interested I’m going to ask my teenage son to draw some character sketches based on the biographies we’ve written. I really like his art style, does this forum allow embedded jpegs?
Anyway, I think here is what we have so far.
Allric - Human Mage, male, elderly
Thag – Human Strider, male, young
Aoife – Dwarf Adventurer, female, young
Unnamed – Elf Ranger
Berry – Human Cleric, male, indeterminate

Hey there dragonslayer Ornstein. I like your new weapon. So this might be perfect, cause I always get a dark souls vibe when I think torchbearer, just that world slowly spiraling down and humans are at the bottom.
I've even thought about some of the dark souls spells and miracles as things adventurers find deep beneath the earth and such.

OK. Here's a link to a map. Let me know if it doesn't work.

Also, I'm wondering if maybe I should resubmit my forum request. This seems to be taking a while.

Awwwweesome! I imagined Aofie looking Celtic-inspired, if that's any help.

Re: Torchbearer/Middarmark?
Thanks for the map! Looks good!
I would be honored to have a drawing. For Allric:
"All wizards are old; it takes so long to learn our craft. The truth is that good wizards master the secrets of youth, first."
Allric is quite tall, but a frail bird of an old man, all skinny limbs and joints within his distinctive flowy robes with a large hawkish nose over his distinctive full grey mustaches and beard. He wears a large, blue, pointy hat, his robes and hat both patched excessively over decades of wear. His best feature is his powder blue eyes, however, which twinkle mischevious as he spins his tales and stories. He has a pair of crystal and brass reading spectacles which he wears when poring over scrolls in the tavern, long clay pipe clenched in his teeth.

Re: Torchbearer/Middarmark?
Question about the map, how does Hollifort connect to anything? Are there roads that haven't been done yet?
Re: Torchbearer/Middarmark?
There are navigable paths from Hollifort, but no major roads. It generally doesn't get much traffic.

Re: Torchbearer/Middarmark?
Ok, that's fair. Explains Berry's survivalist skill. I do like the map thus far. Plenty of unexplored space to find ruins and such.
Edit: Berry, visually, is 16 and looks it, baby faced and unknown to the wilds as compared to his companions. His eyes are light green, and his hair is a slightly unruly mop of dark brown.
His leather armor is not quite the right size, sitting just a little big on him, his helmet bears the dull gleam of an old, but unused piece of armor. His holy symbol, that hangs from his neck, comes from his father's house, and is a sunburst. He keeps the bandanna of his father's house wrapped around his left arm, with the crest itself only partially visible.
Is that solid enough of a visual description? or do you need some more details?

Awesome! So now that we are close to beginning I guess I should read up on how to actually use a pbp forum
