Castinus will strike at the nearest celery stalk with his sword, once Furuk's plan draws them out.
These are ghouls. They hang out in graveyards, they have long tongues, and they eat people.

The trap is set and the party backs off.
It's hard to see how many come. The first rounds the corner and Saving throw [1d20] = 7 trips and falls on his face-stalk. A few more follow Saving throw [1d20+4] = 8+4 = 12 all falling. dmg [1d6] = 3 stunned [1d4+1] = 4+1 = 5
It looks like an unknown number are behind them. Between the flickering light of the torch, their mottled gray-brown coloration, and the unusualness of their forms, you can't tell how many there are. But there are a lot.

Grimes chortles at the comic sight of the veggie dudes tripping and falling, but his laughter tapers off as he sees their numbers. He follows Algrim's lead and stands waiting to cleave at any who get past.

Veggie-mites are climbing over comrades who litter the hall. They appear to have murderous intent.
Dieter fingers play and sand seems to fly from them into the eyes of the veggie-things. sleep [2d8] = 11 A number of them, including some of those stunned, fall into magical slumber. Veggie-things snore, who knew?
None are able to get close enough for melee, with all of the downed creatures in the hall. More attempt to come, though, and should get to you next round barring some circumstance.
