Re: OOC forum
I agree with Rob and Joel...even though they are offering somewhat opposite views.
It can be hard to bring someone new in an established game. I've done it with success, but for every time it has worked, there are three times that number that have bitten me in the ass. It really depends on the player.
IF, you want to bring in a new player...not to take over Tip, but to play a new character...I wouldn't put out an all-call in the "Looking for gamers" forum. Between the four of us, I believe we can come up with a player who would be good to game with and contribute to the group effort.
And whether you decide to add a new player or not, I would discourage you from running more than one NPC. You have enough NPC's to deal with anyway in the game itself (Hennoth being just one).
As a player, I'm good with the game; it is one of two I play on here and I like running Graela.
As a DM though, I can understand if you want to put it on hiatus or shut it down altogether.
Whatever works best for you, man!

Re: OOC forum
Just a quick update: a new victim will be on the way shortly. I will work with him on character generation and then introduce our newest player.

Be back in full force on Tuesday.

Re: OOC forum
I am assuming I am forgetting something elementary here. I PM'd ToniXXX and got a private folder added for Starbeard to join the game. He has posted there but says he cannot post in the public forum of the game. Is there something else I forgot to do?

Re: OOC forum
Did you add him to the game yet?
Re: OOC forum
I think we found the elementary piece I was missing.

Re: OOC forum
Welcome, Starbeard!
And apologies for the lack of posts. Still figuring out my summer schedule.

Hahaha! I have no idea how I managed to skip over the mention of the ladder.OGRE MAGE wrote:Travix looks shocked that his pressure tactic actually worked.
"You could have just used the ladder."
Re: OOC forum
I've been making the rounds, this morning, dropping out of games on account of the summer work schedule packing a bigger-than-expected wallop. Since nearly everyone here is in at least one game that I've dropped, I feel the need to say that I'm sticking with this game. It's the longest-running game I'm presently in, and I really want to unravel some of the mysteries we're involved with.
But if I'm less regular in my posting than usual, please forgive me.

Good to know you're sticking around, JP.
I too want to explore and solve some of the mysteries of this game. Plus, I like the pace; I can only post once or twice a week and this game works good for me.

Marching order in the tunnel:
Graela
Manred
Salty
Travix
Does that work for everyone?

Works for the Wiz!
Re: OOC forum
I'm keen to learn the mysteries so that I can be keen to unravel them.
The marching order works for me. Manred's also equipped with a spear like Graela, so they can freely swap first and second rank if whoever's up front needs a breather from taking damage.

Re: OOC forum
I'm grateful and very pleased to hear you will be staying with us, Pulpatoon. Thank you and....welcome again!
And I like this idea of Starbeard's of the party taking damage. Well done! Let's get that started, shall we?
One in-game note: Salt Peter has that candle (attuned only to him, 5 uses available) from Silring, whose illumination is visible only to his eyes. You can go with your current plan but I wanted to remind you of this option.

Re: OOC forum
Thanks for the reminder—I'd totally forgotten about that. That would still leave Travix in the dark, however. As a group, do we want to rely on torchlight or our demihumans' darkvision?
Re: OOC forum
In favor of the darkvision/magic candle route: we preserve the element of surprise, if we bump into anyone. If we do bump, it's a decent bet that they're human, and thus will have torches and we'll see them coming a ways off.
But we'd have to either lead a blind Travix, or leave our wizard behind us.
If dwarf and elf scout ahead, they'll have to go far enough ahead that, should trouble strike, it will take us a round or two to reach them.

Re: OOC forum
While people decide, I want to make another point. I am grateful for each of you who have stuck with me this long and for Starbeard who has chosen to throw his lot in with us.
Now, I could end with an insinuating remark about how an advantage of the torches is that they could also be used to cauterize the impending party wounds- but that would just be petty.
