Let's use the Dice Roller (top right) to roll up our characters. If you haven't used it before, you basically log in, Create A New Character, and attach that character to this games Campaign ID (550). Don't worry about the name at this point, you can always change it whenever you want. Whenever you use the dice roller, your PC's rolls will get added to the game's dice log. Then, start using the dice roller to roll up some stats and scores!
Here are the basics I can think of at the moment:
- Each player can roll up 1-3 PCs, but the default is to manage 1 PC at a time. The others are part of your 'stable' and stay on the boat until needed. I'm expecting at least a few PC deaths, so a backup may come in handy.
- The free rules only cover Wizards and Warriors, but I'll allow Rogues into the mix as well since they're easy enough to add in. They have no equipment limitations, and can learn individual spells if taught by a Wizard PC. There is also a fourth class, the Wizard-Warrior, which I'm also fine with using if you're really itching for an Elric or Jedi type.
- Dwarves, elves and halflings are available. I can't remember if they're in the free rules or not; but if not, and you want to create one, just let me know and we'll adjust your rolls accordingly.
- We won't use the skill systems from 5.5 or later editions. Instead, think up a profession or hobby for your character, and that will inform us of what your character is good at.
- For miscellaneous equipment not featured on the list, assume that your characters have whatever little bits and bobs they are capable of carrying and you'd like them to have. Write it down on your sheet and ignore costs—you have sailed across the sea to go adventuring, and so whatever you brought with you is what you have.
