Dorath swings with his quarterstaff. Flinching because he knows that if he hits this monstrosity that he will never EVER get the smell out of the wood.

The smell overpowers all of you as the creature pushes its way into the wizard's study with you. You defend yourselves with gorge rising in your throats, Carchannoi losing himself as he wretches on the floor and taking no other action.

Tog the goblin remains in the rear and hurls a rock from her sling, missing the creature and eliciting only the sound of more shattering glass in the next room. Tyrrell and Gaeron are quick to the front, but their weapons swing wide as the creature comes at them. Dorath strikes through a space in-between his companions, a firm blow into the squishy creature that elicits mucus on his staff but little reaction from the monstrous horror. Instead, the beast flails madly at Tyrrell, his new raven-crested shield interposed between them and keeping any of the blows from landing home. As the beast lunges forward to bite at him, he shoves the shield up into its gaping maw, knocking loose most of its rotted teeth from its soggy gums and eliciting a horrid yell from the beast.

Sickened by the soft feeling of his quarterstaff hitting the troglodyte the first time, Dorath takes a half hearted swing unsure of his effectiveness against such a creature as this.

Quarterstaff Attack [1d20]=2 -2 to hit =0, Damage (but really what's the point?) 6 (because of course it is)

Gaeron attempts to hit the creature again, though he is still laid low by the stench.

Longsword: Attack [1d20+1] = 10+1 = 11, Damage [1d8+1] = 7+1 = 8 -2 to hit, of course!

"Where I stand is Holy ground, I will not yield to this beast, though my flesh fail my spirit strengthens my resolve. Weighed in the balance I shall not be found wanting", Tyrrell quotes some ancient text and launches and attack. If I can I want to smash the internals of the creature, the still beating organs and items holding them in place.

Sorry for the delay! School is crazily hectic...

Tog flings another stone, whizzing past Dorath's head and thunking the troll squarely in the eye. The group surrounds the trog-zombie, pinning it near the doorway with their hedge of weapons. Tyrrell lands a solid blow with his hammer while Gaeron's longsword just misses, his swing off as he squints through blurry, watering eyes at the reek. Dorath and Carchannoi likewise succeed in hemming the creature in, but not in landing blows of their own. The troglodyte then lunges forward abruptly, catching Gaeron off guard - a swipe of its clawed hand knocks the longsword and torch from his grasp and sends it skittering across the room (critical hit). Abruptly unarmed, the troglodyte then rips a claw through the chainmail on Gaeron's abdomen and crunches on his forearm with its teeth, driving the chainlinks into the wound. Gaeron drops under the blow, a collapsed heap on the floor.

My error: Tyrrell lit the torch but had to hand it off before fighting. Only Gaeron has a free hand for the torch during combat.

The torch gutters on the floor, the shadows fluttering darkly around the room. (-2 penalty for dim light until someone recovers the torch with a free hand.)

At the sight of his companion falling to the floor under the attack of this monstrosity, something comes over Dorath. He swings hard with his quarterstaff, his eyes full of rage.

Again, sorry for the delay, ended up away from my computer for longer than anticipated.

Tyrrell steps forward over Gaeron's unconscious, bleeding body, proclaiming boldly, "Forward on the beast lest he tear us to shreds." Tog wings another rock from her sling, again narrowly missing everyone and shattering glassware in the next room. Tyrrell tries to force the creature back with his hammer and shield, keeping its attention on him. He deflects its preternaturally strong blows with his shield but fails to strike it effectively with his own hammer. Carchannoi likewise tries but fails to land a blow, the dim light and horrid smell taking its toll on everyone. Dorath steps forward from the rear, striking with his staff and landing a solid blow. The creature, however, doesn't seem slowed (more than it is, seeing that it is already a zombie).
