Greetings from Grognard Games!

#1 Post by GrognardGames »

Hi Guys,

I'm new here - I found that one of my videos had been linked here when I checked my google analytics and it led me to this rather splendid forum :)

Along with the Swords & Wizardry editor at Frog God Games, I run the Grognard Games channel. I hope you check us out (some of you already have), and we're looking forward to interacting on the forums here with you guys.

Hey Martin!!

Welcome!

--Ron--

PS: Whenever you say your name, it sounds like Ian Anderson introducing Martin Barre. That's a good thing in my book. :D
This is a game about killing things and taking their stuff so you can become more powerful in order to kill bigger things and take even better stuff.
Alethan: I'm good with NOT pressing our luck this time.
mjulius: That's how I know I'm home.
Pulpatoon: The whole point of PbP is to take the scheduling pressure off the game. We're just chatty because we're so eager!
Scott308: ...everyone should be reminded of just how wonderful the people they play games with here can be in real life.
Leitz: Quality and quantity wise, I think US is the best I've seen.
Paladin: I can promise terror, glory, and riches...or a quick and brutal death.
Inferno: Come on! That's was Vicar's Head, a completely different doomed village!
Rex: I can move to the wait list to let someone else into the game.

This forum is very, very good - I've not commented on a great deal as yet, there's just so much to read here.

Hail and well met, Martin!

Please add another +1 to the others' comments in regards to enjoying that video and very much looking forward to seeing what you and the GrognardGames team has in store for all us needy Unseenservant grogs! 8-)

As stated, ToniXX, the mods and the folks here are all very kind, helpful and accommodating, so feel free to ask if you have any questions about the games or the site whilst you're perusing. And don't be bashful to say so if'n you wish to give some pbp gaming a go here! ;)

Cheers,

Thanks guys. We're currently doing a series on Appendix N which started yesterday. We also got word back from the guys at Gygax Magazine that they'd like to come on the channel and do an interview, so depending on when we can get that organised we may have some very interesting reveals if possible :)

I wouldn't mind getting into a game - who do you recommend?!

Welcome GG.
There are some great ideas coming out of that channel. Good job.
We need guys like you to extend our 'old guard' feel to the new players.
Not everyone will come, but the ones who do, will be embraced like kindred.
Rule system is important to some, but stories are whats important to me.
A good, worthy story can be manipulated to fit the charts.
I am currently looking for 1 or 2 more players in the thread entitled 'Inn of the Unseen Servant'.
Care to join and post a sentence or two weekly?, Or more if you like.
You can take over an existing stalled character, or bring your own.
AD&D 2.5, 2nd edition with Players Options,is the system being used, but dont let that scare you away.
As far as how much of the story you have missed so far?.....only the party introductions and one encounter.
So you can be brought up to speed with minimal reading.

Dude, if this were reddit, you would get an upvote from me for these words. I definitely want to game with you in the future, if this is how you run games (I have too much on my plate at the moment to join your current games... please keep running them if this is your style!)

Totally agree with Mith, gotta love when the story and player ambition is the focus. I admit I am a rather inexperienced DM but my goal as a DM is exactly as he put it. Just a fun game with a rich story built by the players and all of their great characters and ideas.

This is an exceptionally welcome invitation, however the Grognard Games channel has taken off rather unexpectedly quicker than I anticipated and I've found myself a little short on time to put it mildly!

Thank you for the sentiment. We're gaining a LOT of viewers that understand BECMI as... 1e. They're having their eyes opened, not just in terms of how many editions of D&D there have been, but also the timeline involved and the differences. So many people started the hobby with 3 & 4e and have never seen these games for real and often don't know they exist. We also noticed that the YouTube community doesn't really seem to visit blogs or forums, so...

...On the other side, we have guys that usually wouldn't give YouTube the time of day coming over and watching, which has been phenomenal. Guys that usually only read blogs or prefer forums have come over and watched and subbed up for more episodes when we upload them. They're a whole new audience to the format, and being that it's like a video magazine people can watch what they like over and over and skip episodes that don't interest them. Hopefully something for everyone :)

I'd like to thank the guys at Unseen for the support. It's been cool bumping into people all over the web and seeing what the common threads of the hobby really are to each and every one of us. And we've already got several guys switched over to older games and they're loving it...

Thanks guys

Thanks much for making your way over to our little corner of the interwebs, Martin. Don't forget to point people who want to PbP in our direction if they're looking for a place to host or play a game on a happy, friendly RPG gaming forum.

Cheers,

Al

I certainly will. I'll do a dedicated resources video at some point listing all the good places I've found on my travels :) If anyone would like to start a list off for me for old school game resources to feature that are interactive (no blogs please, that will be another project), please do...
