Background: Dale Collins is from a small town on the Chesapeake Bay on the East Coast of the United States of America, planet Earth. He joined Starfleet, always dreaming of flying among the stars and seeing all manner of new worlds and new life-forms and now he is living his dream. Dale is a dedicated officer; quite able at his chosen profession of being a Helmsman, but he can be a little shy and awkward and frequently doesn't say things QUITE the right way; making him a bit of a loner.
In his Starfleet career he completed a 5 year tour onboard the USS Hood; which saw him promoted from Ensign to LTJG to finally LT at the end of the tour; and then he was assigned to the USS Pathfinder; which had to end its 5 year mission after only 4 years due to an encounter with some Orion Pirates that saw LT Collins working the Helm in a fire-fight for the first time. The ship took significant damage, but managed to defeat the Pirates; but it had to return to the Martian Shipyards for a complete overhaul. Due to his good performance under fire; Collins was promoted early to LCDR and has been recently assigned to the USSS Janus as its senior Helmsman.
