Definitely having fun. There is definitely a learning curve when going back to a D&D style rule-set, but it is fun (despite looking for two young, likely-dead children in a vast, hill-ridden forest while accompanied by a self-obsessed, love-crossed, head-strong redhead). Definitely wishing I had taken a boar instead of a dog and donkey.

I'm fine with however you want to work the weapon changes. I had Silent make that move with the same question in my mind.

I can see it going both ways. Some games I play have no rule about it, but in real world terms I totally get it that it would take time to drop a melee weapon and prepare a missile one.

All good!

I thank Zhym for reminding me that one of the reasons for a rules-light system is to lighten the rules. :) I love rules. LOVE rules. (It is kind of my job.) I sometimes need to be reminded of that.

I'll let you all swap weapons without penalty. Just write a cool narrative for it, because cool narratives justify anything. :)

Welcome, Alethan! :) Spearmint is also just joining now, if you two interact and opt to expedition together. Otherwise, it is okay to wait for the other expeditions to come back and join up with them. (At that point, they could create second characters, too, so more options.) Going out on a shorter exploration with a smaller group, or trying to hire retainers, is also okay.

Excellent! Just let me know if I need to make any adjustments to the character sheet. I'm not opposed to waiting for others to return or going out with a smaller group (even my conservative characters tend to be risk-takers, just as an aside). I tend to not hire retainers or meat shields (though I'm never opposed to others doing it; I just prefer being in charge of an adventurer, not someone who oversees others).

Marullus designed this world so clerics are not heal-bots.
Beith wrote:Prohibition:

There were too many goblins to control, so Clay eliminated all but the one he knew spoke common tongue. And Clay might have a plan to bargain with said goblin. SO he has use.

Roxy on the other hand... Misquotes her deity, lied to Clay, lied to Mr. Farrow, has shouted commands to have others act as meat shields... Not exactly living within any sort of balance. ;) We shall have to see if she the young cleric thinks there is some value in keeping her alive. ;)

And since Roxy doesn't know Clay is a cleric, what is the harm in leaving her injured?

Well I'll answer all these OOC since Fffffff Foxy ( not Rrrr Roxy) lies gurgling in the grass.

You may be assumed to have divine blessings since praying for and healing the leg if Mr Farrow. Clay also wrote in character that if he got close enough he would divinely 'cause light wounds' on the chieftain.

Foxy lied to no one and made a decision to enter the goblin cave to rescue the girls as a better choice than attempting to fight these goblins. A choice which OOC, you thought you would do also.

She suggested approaching the goblins with caution and having been under fire herself knows sheltering behind the donkey makes you less vulnerable. The 3 leather saddle bags are hardly war barding but would possibly stop an arrow. At no time has she used others to hide behind.

She is not a priestess of Eruanna or any god, and may or may not quite scripture perfectly. She has been observant enough to pray IC though, use ritualistic greetings and honour a commitment to seek out the lost girls at no expense for herself. Headstrong maybe, self centered... I think not though you write that twice.

Lets' see if these farmers who 'harm the flourishing and balance if natural flora and fauna ' with their ranch receive the offer of Beith violence?

However Miss O'Hare is unconscious on the hilltop and as a lamb in the companions hands.

Please don't think I am saying you aren't playing her well. She is a great blend of firey/sassy yet conscientious. Clay is the one with issues. He is working towards a greater balance. One or two fewer goblins (or humans even) is of little interest, though he would likely harbor a soft spot for anyone he knows a bit better - he is young after all. ;)

Regarding who he heal/causes pain to, it depends on what he determines will best benefit the mission. Earlier, it seemed like taking out the lead goblin would best serve that. Now it seems we need him alive and we might use his ego to our own ends. Foxy currently remains an asset, despite her (from his perspective) character flaws.

To be honest, I think you are both doing a great job. I've noted down RP awards for each of you at several points during your expedition.

Foxy is headstrong in her pursuit of Good and notably Chaotic in her personal interactions as she does so. Her decisions are clear and consistent in this regard. You chose to pick up a devout belief for pure roleplay purposes and it has added significantly to the scenes and your own character depth, which is awesome.

Clay chose his own deliberately-conflicted role and has been doing well with it as well. He roleplayed through questioning, agonizing, and deciding about helping the farmers at all, about acting against the goblins, and handling the friction between the two PCs personalities.

I've enjoyed watching you both. Both of you have (perhaps even naturally and unconsciously, which is the best praise) picked up on the key beliefs and points of the other and made sure to recognize and challenge each other through your own RP.

That's my hope - I want a strong player compact. That means I want you to enjoy as players when your characters conflict or work together IC. We're all here having fun. If you're not having fun then something is wrong.

That said, nobody likes waiting while their PC is on the verge of death. ;) I understand the angst. I'll move your scenes ahead by tonight.

High five to Sterling!
I was thinking about my post all day and realized I should have said two things in this thread. First is that that cure light wounds spell will, indeed be used on Foxy. Second was that she would have been better served pairing up with a conan the barbarian-type of fighter rather than an annoying, knowit all, little-brother-type character.

What is the recovery for stone bullets? are these just rocks that are readily available?
I was wondering the same thing.

Ancient Romans used cast lead, though that must have just been an improvement over stones. But it seems like they would need to be a particular size and pretty spherical.

In LL Basic, there is no distinction for "sling stones" and "sling bullets" as there is in some other systems (like OSRIC). They say bullets, but they cost nothing, so I am assuming they are rocks.

Following the rule of simplicity: As they have no cost, I'm assuming they're rocks that are readily available. They do weigh 1/2lb each, so how many you carry is a factor, so I do want them on your sheet. For any above ground encounter or underground delve, you only have what you are carrying. You can replenish back to full at any above-ground camp (as we're assuming your camping by fresh water, and so water-smoothed stones can be found.) Just note it when you camp and replentish back to full.

Fair?
