*blush*

So here's what I wonder. Both Yenny and Jobin had Know Alignment prepared today. That makes some sense for Yenny—she knew she'd be heading to Sambord and wanted to know more about the people she'd seen there. But Jobin didn't know we'd be arriving, which means he probably keeps Know Alignment ready as a matter of course. Even though he knows that some people see it as really offensive!

Those Sambords sure are paranoid. :)

Makes sense. You go through life looking a lot like an orc, you (a) get really suspicious and (2) don't mind if people peer at your mind instead of your hide.

Angus, on the other hand: well, he didn't go live in the wild as a woodsman because of a love for authority. :)

Here is what she was thinking as she has listened to the backnforth... Fiddle-dee-dee! War, war, war; this war talk's spoiling all the fun at every party this spring. I get so bored I could scream.

Hee hee.

BTW, I was browsing through old threads (don't ask), and came across this:
Zhym wrote:As people disperse, Angus looks at his medal with a skeptical eye. "Huh," he says. "First time I ever got me a piece of shiny just for killin' vermin." When the group is alone, he leans close to the others and whispers. "We get somewheres safe, one of y'all mystical types might check to see if these are enchanted to track us."
Does anyone remember if we ever included those bronze medals in a pile of stuff we detected magic on?

I am pretty sure Hellebore checked them explicitly. She does Detect Magic pretty much every night, checking all the stuff they got on any given day, so I'm assuming if there was an issue it would've been noted.

Yikes! Now that it looks like our group is going to be dividing, we should probably have a break point and award XP / handle Loot.

Can we get the summary of what was collected?

I'm not sure how to address this entirely, so I'm just going to jump in and try not to make a mess.

I'm not a big fan of PvP style play, and I think that sentiment is shared by others here. If there is drama between characters, it's best to address it OOC so that everyone knows what's up, and to reassure everyone that there's an actual point for whatever is happening IC.

Right now, I don't feel like that's happening and it's making me uncomfortable.

Storm11, what's up with Tempus? If he doesn't want to stand in solidarity with his party of fellows, would he rather go another direction? If that's a dramatic choice, I'm cool with that and it might be fun playing with the idea of rival camps. As it stands, he doesn't seem too happy with the rest of the characters and it doesn't make a lot of dramatic sense for him to stick with them if it just means more in-fighting.

If not, and he represents some personal beef you may have as a player with how we are going about the game, better to talk about it here too.

We all want to have fun, and things suddenly got...unfun.

Let's fix it!

No I don't have any beef what so ever.

I think the party have been overly sensitive and weirdly defensive and completely absolving themselves of creating the whole situation and then deflecting it onto the guy in the border encampment harassed by orc's.

But I sure haven't got any problems with anyone or the players that play them. From Tempus' perspective they have made a big mess and then started making a wholy unnecessary drama about it, getting overly prideful and weird.

I don't really understand what's happening, maybe it's old beef with these guys or something. The ranger was whinging we should get here swiftly and now we are here is picking a fight that WE started? I don't get it is all. We are out of order. The halfling can see it. He's abit mesmerised that the wizard won't wiz because he picked up a sword and the ranger doesnt seem happy no matter where we go and is a bit flummoxed by all the odd behaviour. I was just under the impression we were all role playing is all, and as a new guy he just sees what has been occurring and not really making any sense of it. From his perspective many of the others are quite rude and brash and he is just affording them the same curtesy he's received.

I didn't mean to make it unfun and am happy to start a new party if that's what is good for the game. No offense meant at all.

Awesome! That's great to know, thanks for giving me some insight into Tempus' frame of mind. I agree that we haven't handled Jobin very well, and Arnulf just wants to get the heck out and start over.

Like I said, I don't mind a little conflict (it wouldn't be much of a story without it) as long as I know where it's coming from. Glad it's just IC and we can have some fun playing with that.

Please don't be offended by me and my overt questions. I think I'm a bit sensitive and sometimes just need reassurance that we are all still enjoying the game.

Cheers!

Well, I think you're off to a bad start when you describe (OOC) Angus's eagerness to go help people as "whinging." :D

Angus is a ranger. Helping people is what he does. When the need of those in need of help seems urgent, Angus tries to get there as fast as possible. Yes, he wanted to go straight to Sambord. But when the group decided to check out Town No Go instead, Angus didn't whine—he went along with the group and shut up about Sambord except to comment at one point that the Sambords might have an idea about what happened at No Go (which, hey, they do!).

As for the current to-do, I realize that the easy thing would have been to have just gone along with Jobin touching everyone and moving on. But Angus is a strong individualist who has lived most of his life near the perimeter. So when Jobin responds to Yenny casting Know Alignment by doing the same thing, Angus's reaction was, "Include me out." And I think it's clear that Angus thinks both Yenny and Jobin messed up but that Yenny's the only one so far to have the decency to apologize. Put another way: Yenny made a mistake, but Jobin escalated by seeming to require everyone to do something that he himself just said was offensive.

The situation also presented an interesting opportunity for role play, in my opinion, raising issues of the conflict between security and privacy, personal autonomy and obedience to authority. But I can also see how someone else would think, "Dear god, man, can you please shut up and let the guy see that your PC is good so we can move on to killing things?" :)

I'm glad there's nothing personal involved, but I don't see why Tempus would stick with a group he seems to hate.
