NPC Post: Grey Mountain Kobolds

The four Grey Mountain Kobolds, led by Thorgruk Gribtuk, seem to understand Gavin's English words and march up the spiral staircase toward the 2nd floor without a word. The strange Elf on the litter continues to loll around on the cot unconscious or possibly dead.

Rakjak

A few moments after Gavin and the kobold's leave to go upstairs, Rakjak is seen walking down at a casual speed. When he reaches the guest room he walks in and searches for an available bed, then grabs all of the sheets and blankets off of it, making a crude but comfy nest in a corner and laying down in it.

When he is suitably comfortable he sighs and cackles more, possibly laughing at some internal joke or just laughing for the sake of laughing, either way his outlook is quite positive and relaxed.

Caiden Cross – Human (HP: 10/10) (AC: 13)

Caiden simply smiles and nods to Gavin words as he moves out of the way for the strange reptilians to go up the stares, he found their outer appearance fascinating but he didn't stare

He goes back to the guest room and searches for an empty bed, he lays down and covers his face with his hood before falling asleep

Zirus

Zirus sits down beside the pixie and her companion, listening for a moment to their conversation. If the conversation does not reveal the information he is seeking, he at last asks, "What is your purpose-s-s-s-e here? You arrived in the chamber below, as if in urgency. What have you come seeking and what is afoot?"

[Tafari - Nemed, Honey Badger lvl 0] (hp: 10/10) (AC: 14)
Actions: By the Gods, what is it?

Tafari comes huffing down the stairs, rounding the corner to the guest room, when the Kobolds rush by with the strange elf thing. The hairs running up his spine rise to give the appearance of a sharp fin extending from his head to lower back. Starting in common, then switching to Draconic, he addresses the Kobolds
"Where did you find this.... svaklar tira wux ehtah nomeno rekisix? pok, itheik, si zklaen examine jacion! wux zklaen pok!" Switching back to common "You must STOP, I demand it!" Tafari's voice sounds foreign to his own ears, loud and commanding, his words echo thru the tower halls.
He falls in line behind the Kobolds on the stairs, desperately trying to see around them to the creature they are carrying.

Translation:
"where did you find this creature? stop, wait, i must examine him! you must stop!"

Lyaera Arabana – Dark Elf (HP: 10/10) (AC: 12) hearing the commotion coming up the stairs. Moves quickly to the back of the room. Daggers drawn. Is this place ever quiet? When the Kobolds arrive upstairs with the wounded elf. She will make her way down stairs and find Kel to rest near.

NPC Post: Gavin Moorehouse – Human

Gavin returns alone from the 2nd floor and drops into a hard wooden chair with a thud, “Babak! Bring me something to drink, something hard, something to numb the mind.

Gavin’s hands and shoulders shake violently from time to time, rattling the life out of the table and chair that hold his muscular frame. Every attempt to wrestle his body into submission only results in more violent shaking. His eyes water profusely and are filled with throbbing red veins. Some violent turmoil seems to be eating away at the man.

From time to time he mumbles to himself, often blurting out, “Paladine! You…” and trails off into incoherent mumbling’s once again.

NPC Post: Grey Mountain Kobolds

The four Grey Mountain Kobolds enter the 1st Floor guest room carrying the two injured Kobolds, Kuxtor and Bitfer, who seem to have no visible injuries from their previous entrance. They gently place the Kobolds in empty beds along the wall nearest a large empty table and begin to take off their ornate armor. Once de-armored they take seats at the table and wave to Babak to get his attention.

Their ash-grey skin seems at odds with the light in the Guest room. They speak Draconic in low tones amongst themselves and seem genuinely at ease with the others in the room.

Summary: Gunther Appears
Calendar: 10:15 pm - July 9th, 9001
Location: 1st Floor Guest Room

The party of adventurers, having been thwarted on their attempt to “see the town”, retire to the 1st Floor Guest Room reluctantly and somewhat agitated.

Gunther arrives a short time after Gavin and the Grey Mountain Kobolds carrying an armful of small cloth pouches. “Greeting friends. I apologize for the delay thus far, and as I have come to understand, the less than pleasant experience of being confined to the tower. My sincere apologies, in the future this will not be the case. Netheril is very distrusting of newcomers. Upon completion of your first task you will all be given a medallion which will give you access to pertinent areas, one of which will be The Island where you may choose a hut of your own, to live in, free from fear of anyone or anything.

Gunther passes out the cloth pouches containing 10 gp each, except those for Caiden and Zirus, which contain 20 gp each (for services already rendered).

This token of respect from Netheril represents half of your stipend, in advance. Netheril is paying you 20gp a week to save those villagers and see to any and all needs that he asks of you. Netheril wishes that you journey safely and wisely in the days to come. Your task will not be an easy one. Many lives are at stake. It is vital that you succeed.

Gunther points to Gavin and continues, “Gavin and Esilia, the pixie you saw briefly, will be your guides. Due to an increase in recent events you will not be traveling across the Seamyst Plain, or what was a plain previously, but rather descend into the bowls of Dragons Belch to clear the bandits from the seaport. A crew of Northmen will meet you at the port once Gavin has given the signal and they will carry you up the River of Ood in their vessel to the Keep of Old. There are villagers there that must be returned safely to Dragons Belch. The Northmen will see to their safe return while you continue on to address the issue of the Druid, Brother Smyth.

Gunther walks to Gavin with a grim look of concern and deep sorrow on his face. Resting a firm but caring hand on his shoulder says, “From there Netheril, at Gavin’s request, asks that you search for his son, Devin Moorehouse who was captured by Groo while defending the villagers at the Keep of Old. Netheril has assured Gavin that his son still lives. Netheril’s spies believe a priest that goes by the name of Calmert is holding Devin captive to coerce Gavin and the Knights of the Rose to let them have the Seamst Plain and the Dry Steppes of Set, the red desert to the west of the Flaeness mountains. Netheril nor the Knights of the Rose have any intension of letting that lunatic run free any longer than they have to. We believe he has taken up residence in the crumbling Set Castle in the red desert. There is more to tell but I will let Esilia and Gavin give the details along the way. The Grey Mountain Kobolds you see at the back of the room have come at the request of…Well, that is a story for another time. Just know that they will ensure a safe route to the sea docks once you have cleared the way. The Undercity is vast; ancient city upon city, buried by volcanic ash long ago. There are many secrets and acient artifacts below these streets; none to be trifled with I assure you. Keep your focus on those villagers, the Druid, and Gavin’s son. Babak will see to your needs while you are here. Try to get some sleep, I’m certain you will need it. Gavin and Esilia will come for you at first light. Any items you have asked for will be delivered by them then, along with a few gifts from Netheril and myself. God speed my friends.

With that Gunther departs and heads up to the 2nd floor to see about the strange Elf and Tafari.

OOC : Okydokee, let’s get this here show on the road. I will make Gavin and Esilia’s entrance to guide you through the Undercity tomorrow, hopefully during the day, if not, then no later than 7 pm.

If you have any questions please shout them out now. I still owe a few people stuff on their characters and whatnot, but we can still move forward without those things.

Anyone who would like to purchase gear/items/weapons/armor is free to do so now, while still in the city. I will honor any item or price listed on the websites listed below. If you have something specific in mind just shoot me a PM or make a post in the Character Generation thread. Try to keep your character’s pathology in mind when choosing items/gear

NPC Post: Gavin Moorehouse – Human

Gavin, heartened a little by Gunther's speech, stands up, bows respectfully to the party and says, “Est Sularas oth Mithas,” before leaving, forgetting completely about the drink he ordered, or more probably, gaining control over his facilities and honoring the oath he took before the Grand Master in the Hall of Knights at the Order of the Rose.

NPC Post: Tobias – Grimalkin

Tobias wanders around the room watching everyone come and go, sniffing the air, sniffing people and food. After Gunther's speech he sits on his but, his black tail waving back and forth along the floor, watching the Grey Mountain Kobolds as they converse.

After a short period of time he strolls up to their table, "You are a curious lot. I have not had the pleasure of meting your kind before. Your skin, it is quite lovely. That ash-grey color is quite unique. Pardon my manners, I forget myself sometimes. My name is Tobias, I am Grimalkin. My master left me for dead. The Lizard man there (he nods toward Zirus) saved me from a ruined putrid dungeon in the Underdark below the Seamyst Plains. Do you have names? Can you speak Common?"

Summary: The Journey Begins
Calendar: 6:33 am - July 10th, 9001
Location: 1st Floor Guest Room

Babak arrives in the 1st floor Guest room shortly before Gavin to ensure everyone is awake for his arrival. He jumps up and down and lets out a whoop, “Rise friends of Netheril. Gavin will be here soon. Please prepare for your journey.” Babak runs out of room to retrieve the supplies for the party.

Gavin enters the 1st floor Guest Room a short time later. Stepping into the room, he stands tall, fully clad in his jet and red full plate, helmet in hand, and a stony look on his face. Esilia flies in beside him, hovering in place, her wings gently beating the air. She wears various pieces of highly polished bronze armor: A dainty little helm, pouldrons, breastplate, bracers, greaves, taces, bronze studded leather war skirt, and tassets. Every piece is finely crafted, molded to each curve of her body, barely covering the vital parts. A huge smile peaks from beneath her cute little shiny bronze helm as she fidgets continuously with impatience. The armor doesn’t seem to hinder or slow her down in any way. At her side hangs a whetted spatha with bronze hilt, and strapped to her back a bow and quiver.

Gavin waits long enough to get everyone’s attention then begins to speak, “Our time to depart has come. I will not harry you with details or give you false hope. This journey may be the death of all of us. Let us depart before we loose our nerve. There are many souls awaiting our help, let us not disappoint them.” With that Gavin turns, dons his jet black helm, and taking confident strides, his armor sounding with each step, departs the room and heads up the steps toward the 2nd floor.

Esilia flies around the room briskly shouting, “To war! To war!” Dropping to the floor she bounds to each adventurer, encouraging each to follow Gavin. “This is soooo exciting. My first trip to the Undercity!, Oh have I longed for this day. I have heard so many stories from Delea!” Once she has properly encouraged everyone she mills around the 1st floor breezeway waiting impatiently for everyone to depart.

Babak runs in, as the party is gathering to depart, and delivers a leather backpack with various pockets filled with vials and other items. "Esilia packed this for you. She can give you the details along the way. Hurry now. Don't irritate Gavin, he is in a state not to be trifled with."

Caiden Cross – Human (HP: 10/10) (AC: 13)
Action: Sorry

Caiden wakes up, rubs his eyes a bit then nods to Babak as he stands up from his bed. He stretches in a very limber fashion that it almost seems as if he is showing off but there is no audience to show off to, it's simply his morning ritual.

He listens intently to Gavin's words and adds, "It's not a real adventure if the odds aren't completely against us though the burden of the whole world may stand on our shoulders and this world has messed up its chances for a good peaceful life for too many times to count, I say we try our best to give this world one more chance to redeem itself". He smiles purely at the enthusiastic Esilia flying around.

he pulls his hood to cover his face, fastens the bow to his back and follows Gavin in a bit of urgency, "May I speak to you for a moment while the rest get ready?", once he and Gavin are alone and not heard Caiden adopts a seriousness in his voice and posture, "I heard pieces and bits of the argument you had with Tafari, I wanted to apologize for his rude behavior, he is a good man but he has some problems I suppose in controlling his curiosity", he thinks for a moment, "I fear Netheril, he possesses too much power, I can feel it but as of now I am sure that he is working for the greater good and I trust his judgment, that is why I agreed to work for him, the gold is nothing but a formality. And Netheril chose Tafari....for one reason or another, you may not hold a high opinion of me but you clearly hold him in high regards, what I am trying to say is please! I am implore you to be patient with Tafari and not decapitate his frail body. I do not make it a habit to nose into others's business but this matter felt like it might end with someone dead so I thought I should say something", Caiden shifts uncomfortably throughout the confrontation with Gavin because he respects the man.

Rakjak opens one eye as the others converse and talk. He listens to the speech given by Gavin but does not rise, instead content to lay about for the few moments while everyone else rises from slumber. After Lyeara begins to make her way towards him he raises his head to give her a wide dog-like grin, "Ready now? Good!"

Rakjak takes a moment to stretch out, yawning away the last portions of his sleepiness, before getting up from his makeshift nest and shouldering the pack that he had laying beside him, already fully packed and ready to go. He heads to the table to see if there is any food to grab on their way out, "So we go under yes? Rakjak have many time in under! Look for tings to eat like rats or glowy fungus." He cackles as he relives some memories in his head, "Rakjak make soup dat glow in dark!" His laughter ascending into his high pitched hyena like laughter.
Life is a roller coaster, if you don't stop to enjoy it then you may as well not even ride.
