New Member Slighted

#1 Post by Slighted »

My name is Ben and I live in the upper Midwest. I have been out of gaming for a lot of years, but am finally back. I found your site through a recommendation of rredmond on Google Plus. Also, I am an aspiring writer/game designer and currently have some third party products published for Pathfinder and am working on a novella for a Savage Worlds setting. I am new to PbP and most of the rule sets, but I am a quick learner.

Looking forward to meeting and gaming with you.

Welcome, Ben! While there are gamers here from all over, there are quite a few of us from the Midwest (I live ~40 minutes outside of Chicago). Glad to have you onboard. I was in a similar situation to you until earlier this year (rredmond recruited me back in January) so, if your progression is anything like mine, you'll find yourself at home in no time at all.

I would recommend starting with the Tips for the Player forums. They should do a good job getting you up to speed on play-by-post games and what to expect. Don't hesitate to ask questions, though, as there is an active group here and I'm sure you'll be greeted with quick responses.

Feel free to lurk a few games or jump right in... but make yourself welcome!

Welcome, Ben/Slighted!

The Midwest seems to be the soup du jour these days. I'm from just outside of STL, myself. (You can tell by the lack of an accent...)

Excepting the additional two kids, you could be describing my story as well (though Ron didn't recruit me; I stumbled across US on my own). My wife and I have not been able to wrap our brains around having more than one child. Our little one is a HUGE amount of fun, but he is also an incredible amount of work. We can't imagine having to work with more than one at a time. :)

One of the balls I've been juggling lately has been some module/campaign stuff (with ToniXX), as well. Also ended up being an editor in the Delving Deeper publication that just came out under Brave Halfling.

Anyway... welcome! Glad to have you on the forum!

Hey Ben!
Welcome man! Enjoy.
--Ron "apparently recruiter extraordinaire" ;)
This is a game about killing things and taking their stuff so you can become more powerful in order to kill bigger things and take even better stuff.
Alethan: I'm good with NOT pressing our luck this time.
mjulius: That's how I know I'm home.
Pulpatoon: The whole point of PbP is to take the scheduling pressure off the game. We're just chatty because we're so eager!
Scott308: ...everyone should be reminded of just how wonderful the people they play games with here can be in real life.
Leitz: Quality and quantity wise, I think US is the best I've seen.
Paladin: I can promise terror, glory, and riches...or a quick and brutal death.
Inferno: Come on! That's was Vicar's Head, a completely different doomed village!
Rex: I can move to the wait list to let someone else into the game.

Welcome to the forums, Ben. There are a couple games starting here, so I'm sure you can find one to play in.
