The adventure begins

#1 Post by wolfpack »

Ossiliath and Hanna leave the weary traveler and walk to Wayfarers place where they know their other friends should be waiting. As they enter they can see Tumbleedee, Sergius , and Cilian sitting at "their" old table near the fireplace, the house bard cedric plays a classic ballad and the smell of bacon and ham fills the air.

Viktor orders a pint of beer as he relaxes with the others. He looks about and takes in the warm and inviting atmosphere of the Wayfarer's Place. He contemplates what the near future will hold as he listens to Cedric's soothing melodies. The smells of bacon and ham make him think about what he'll be ordering for dinner.

Ossilliath takes a seat at their table, beer in hand and a smile on his face. he hadn't seen many of his friends in far far too long, and it had been altogether too long since he'd been in trouble with any of them. He takes a sip of his beer, and starts to listen to the Bard singing.

Scythius, strides in removing his cloak and hanging it up, he spots his friends and wanders over to the table, calling for a mulled wine, as he moves. "Well, fancy seeing you all here." He says smiling.
"Sounds like the music and tales will be lively tonight." He comments dryly at the ballad hopeful of a turn in the musical tide certain there wont be any such turn. "I hope a bit of dicing can be found."

Hanna's happy to start on her third beer of the afternoon, and looks around the table. Well, here's trouble. Nice to see you all. And look, fellas: Ossiliath has come back from the Odinites at long last. Were they able to teach you anything there at all? ;)

And Scythius: any time you want to lose your money to me, I'll be happy to dice with you. :D

It is just a couple of hours before sun down and you know at that time the local ranch and farm hands will flood into the taverns looking to drink after a hard days work. So you want to use this time to catch up before it gets to loud.

The group sits, eats , and drinks catching up on old times and new developments in your lives when suddenly the front door to the inn is thrown open.

The music stops and a hush falls over those inside as two men stumble in supporting each other. One of the men you all recognize and Scythius knows him fairly well, he is Johanson a local scout for hire.

You see his shoulder is torn and bleeding and hangs limply by his side. However he still appears in much better shape than his companion who none of you recognize.

Dressed in what was nice clothing he is now covered in blood. His shirt is ripped to shreds and his chest is a bloody mess. Johanson is more dragging him that simply helping him and as they enter the tavern the man collapses on the floor his eyes closed and you can hear the wheezing as he takes quick shallow breathes.

Somebody get a healer! we were attacked by the living dead!

Tubeedee looks to ensure that Korec is around, then quickly goes to the door to check that nothing undead is coming in... ready to bar it if necessary.
This is a game about killing things and taking their stuff so you can become more powerful in order to kill bigger things and take even better stuff.

OOC- can't color fonts as I'm posting from my phone.

IC- Tubedee, after a quick look at his friends, nods at Korec and heads out to the Temple.

OOC- this is what I get for choosing a gag name (To be determined) everybody adds an M. :)

"Damn!", utters Viktor as he stands up, almost spilling the rest of his beer in the process. He makes his way over toward the badly wounded man, looking at Johanson in almost disbelief. "Where did this happen? How many of them were there? How can you be sure they were the living dead?"

Viktor will look to use a towel or some cloth, his own cloak if necessary, to try staunch the bleeding and stabilize the man that Johanson brought in. "This man is critically injured and barely alive. We had better get the cleric in here fast!"

Johanson looks at Viktor

How do I know? 2 of 'em were nothing but walking skeletons withn empty eye sockets and jaws chattering. the other was a walking corpse with skin rotted away so you could see bone underneath.

I was leading this merchant here from Fordington, he just had a single cart and 1 guard. On the road about 10 miles from here we saw a body ahead of us with blood around it, looked like somone had been attacked.

The guard got off the cart to go check it out, as he got near the body 2 skeletons exploded form piles of leaves and branches beside the cart. They attacked us and tried to drag us to the ground, ripping up my shoulder and his chest in the process. I saw the guard turn at the noise and then the body he went to look at stood up! it grabbed him from behind and let out this blood curdling moan. At that sound the skeletons lef tus be and went and helped the walking corpse drag the man off. He was screaming for our help, but we were both so injured we couldn't do anything.

He points to the merchant
I got him back o the cart and got to town fast as I could, but I don't know if he's gonna make it. he lost a lot of blood.

Johanson leans back against the bar adnwinces as he draws his mangled srm to his side.

You know fordington is a small hamlet northeast of Rashtan, about a 2 day travel.

Hanna moves near Viktor, hears all Johanson has to say.

So the undead dragged the guard off - doesn't sound like they were following you. You say this happened 10 miles outside of town?

She turns to her friends. Doesn't sound like something's coming in the door right behind them. They're up the road a ways. Coming here or not, who knows? They sound suspiciously smart to me, hiding in leaves and playing dead and all that.

I think we should form a little party and go clear the roads.

She rests her hand on the handaxe at her belt and looks around to see if others agree.

Tubeedee runs to the temple of Mielikki and enters. Inside there are oak benches set throughout the rather large building and in the center there is no floor, instead there is a indoor garden surronunded by a low wood fence. A opening in the roof allows the sun to shine in and standing in the center is a granite statue of the goddess.

Tending the garden you see Cariwin, the priest has lived in Rashtan since you were a child at least and he used to be in charge of the temple until a higher ranking priest was sent to take over. As you run into the temple he quickly turns

Tubeedee what is it? Why the rush?

Tubeedee doesn't wait to catch his breath, and forces the words out. Down at Wayfarers Johanson, and some other guy, just came in covered in blood. The other guy looks hurt real bad. They're yelling something about the "living dead". Korec sent me to get you Cariwin. He'll start to move toward the entrance of the temple expectantly.

OOC: weekends are normally a bad internet time for me. If need be, someone can NPC me. I'll definitely be back on monday, but I'll try and get on during the weekend.

"Johansen, Ya think I could find them, track them? We need a posse." Scythius asks soberly, stroking the hilt of his knife. "I'll find your charge, Joh." He says feeling the determination grow in him. "When Tub gets back I head out." He says to his friends, snatching his cloak and throwing it around his shoulders.
