('Foyer' matches but anyone who said 'foyer' in my hometown would be called stuck-up. )
The mat comes up with a puff of dust but nothing else. The spear will have to wait for something else's face.
Kenelm lift the latch on the door. "Shall I?"
Kenelm lifts the latch and swings the door open. The door opens into the porch. To the right is what appears to be a hallway. To the front/left is what appears to be a fairly large living room with a sofa and armchairs. It's dark inside so it is difficult to see much detail. Nothing seems to be moving.
"We'll air the place out, paint it, refurnish it, and open it as a resort." Darius says, looking around. "I don't know why nobody has done so already. Think of it: the sea air, away from the smell of the crowded city. It will make me rich. I mean us. Rich, I mean."
While he talks, Darius continues to look for signs of habitation.
The living room, or what you can see of it, looks like it has not been used in many, many years. There is dust everywhere, spiders (regular size) in the corners, and plants growing in cracks in the walls. You might need to be rich in order to renovate the house in the first place.
Do you enter the living room? Try the hall to the right? Shout, "Anyone home?"
Baltir walks into the living room, but ignores the comments bout this house. It's in shambles anyway and would probably be better just knocking it down and starting over again.
"You people should bottle taciturn." Darius looks around the room with a critical eye. "It's not wet in here, well, not overly wet, which means the roof is mostly intact. If it weren't, then the rain would be getting in and damaging the structure. I mean, sure, the furnishings are destroyed, but the place has potential, and it might just be sound."
"Dah!! Wouldja get yer head outta yer arse and focus on de job at hand?" Baltir says a bit more than his normal Gruffly...and with a bit more volume than prudent.
He keeps an eye out as he heads into the living room.
I assume someone is lighting a torch or lantern. The living room is dusty and plants are growing up around. There is a chesterfield and an armchair in the room. They have lotus flower patterns on the material and they look to be in quite good shape.
I suppose the rest of you are following the dwarf.
You walk into the living room and have a closer look. A couple of side tables are dried out and cracked but the chesterfield and armchair look good. Unusually good. And unusually clean. There are no tracks in the floor dust so you are not sure how this might have come to be.
"Somebody likes this furniture. Somebody who doesn't touch the ground when he walks. There are spells one can cast to tidy up, but why tidy up just a few pieces?"
