The Cleric Jem is starting to take up a collection for a memorial stone to be engraved in order to remember his fallen comrade Murdoch. Jem will donate the first 100 gold coins for this in case there is no other interest.
He will open up the donations to all of his fellow party members and to whomever else would like to give.
Elbreth
Herrin
Braxtaw
Ulf
Killog
Even Njord, if he ever shambles back this way.
If no others are interested in donating, Jem will pay the 100 gold so the work may begin.
He will keep it simple:
In memory of Murdoch, Cleric of Ogmios
His career was not long, but he was loyal and brave.
A better friend and companion you could not find.

Scholarship to Mage Finishing School
Varas proposes donating 50 gp to start a scholarship program. This program will identify promising young magicians in the Southlands and provide a formal education for them. It will be assumed that they are intelligent and skilled in the arcane arts, but in Varas' experience there's no guarantee that promising mages have any social skills at all.
He aims to rectify this situation. With impeccable manners and winning ways, Varas believes that good young mages will attain their proper station in life.
Varas will encourage those completing finishing school to join his adventures up north.

What sort of resources will this scholarship leverage? I mean, how will this work given the tools at hand?

Re: Memorials and Tributes
He hopes to make the proper contacts at Harrowing, with traders from the south (since they appear to have magical items, they must have some contacts in the community). He will pay an administrative fee to them for administering the scholarship. Perhaps if they visit somewhat frequently, they can compile a list of candidates for Varas and the administrators to review on their next visit…at which point Varas will donate more to the fund.
Re: Memorials and Tributes
That works for me: let's incorporate that into the festival action.

Re: Memorials and Tributes
After a day of drinking and hearing the Lug theme song one too many times, Kennit decides to pay Zampari to compose his own song. "The Fall of Nine Tongues"
It will be a fun song with a lot of rhyming, that tells dreadful lies about how evil the goblin chieftain Nine Tongues was and how he was slain by the unlikeliest of champions, Kennit of the Broken Shield.
In the song, Kennit is much more clever than in real life and also less of a brute. He tricked the goblins into leaving the tree so that they could loot it, and then he cajoled the evil dire wolf to sleep nearby so that he could stay warm and comfortable at night, before he slew it in the morning and ate it for breakfast.
deduct 10 gp for the composition, and another 5 gp for 50 singings and another 10 cp for ten more beers.

Bertram knows very little about Crivit's god, Veles. But it takes no stretch of imagination that he may soon require favor from the god of the underworld. Bertram begins the workings on a small shrine to Veles, in Crivit's honour.

Re: Memorials and Tributes
Being a priest of Veles, Seadu was thinking somewhere along the same lines. 'I can't be carrying all this newfound gold everywhere I go,' he was thinking, 'so I might as well get the ball rolling to set up a Velesian house in Vaul.'
He will match Bertram's donation to the memorial, and is perfectly happy letting it stand in Crivit's honour. Maybe it could be in the image of a tree, with roots at both ends, each root sprouting its own little tree. Something to add a personalized touch for Crivit would be nice, too.
Seadu explains in his nonchalant way one of his key ambitions: to help establish a small house of Veles in Vaul, possibly even here at the site of the memorial. 'We exist mostly without any organized structure, so that the followers of Branwyn would charge us with secularization. But it is not so: Velesian houses can be found in many cities, where the deceased are given funerary rites and sent safely to the blissful underworld, for a modest fee of course. Here in Vaul we could even sell little periapts in case the wearer should die on the road, to protect both body and spirit during the journey to Veles' realm. With all this unsettling business with the undead and demonic possession, I imagine such amulets would come in handy, and sell well.'

Re: Memorials and Tributes
Since Seadu didn't travel with a digit, he won't get xp for memorializing him: therefore, my recommendation would be to use the cash to build out a structure connected to the memorial to get a Velesian House set up. Then at least you'll get benefit and still be doing something in this vein (not to deter you if you just want to make sure your brethren are remembered).
Re: Memorials and Tributes
I will indeed take that advice.
Seadu is all for memorializing his brethren, being a priest of the dead and all. However, I see him as one of the more opportunistic priests of Veles, and all things being equal would rather put his money where it will make money.
So, on 28 April as he is trying to unload some of his cash on new equipment, Seadu would also like to invest in a small building at/near the site of Crivit's proposed monument. To start, he'd like a small wooden building built by 4 workers (12 days, 100gp+48gp). If possible, he'd also like to invest in a small area of undeveloped space around the building, to leave room for possible future memorials/tombs/ceremonies with flaming pyres/etc. Say enough room for 8 more memorials, plus a small space directly in front of the building for ceremonial rites. How much would that cost?

If you got the land outside the town walls, only 20gp extra. Inside the walls, 50gp extra.
