Re: 4. The Spires of Ravenloft
Fendt "Alright well if that is how you feel then I will wait and see if I can find my things and I'll be on my way." he replies to the rude Agrippo. "Once again Tumbler was it I owe you my gratitude. Robert I think it was thank you for the food. I needed something to remove the taste of rat from my mouth." he gives a slight bow to Tumbler and Robert and a sneer to Agrippo.

Weather: Thunderstorm

Location: Castle Ravenloft, North Tower Room

Tumbler stares at the chest, wondering whether to attempt to disable the trap protecting it. Are its contents worth the risk of setting off the trap?
Iluq stands by Tumbler, ready to heal any harm the trap might inflict.
Vorkath concentrates on the evil he detected before entering the room. It turns out to be a sense that something extremely evil once stood within the pentagram etched into the floor.
Agrippo challenges Fendt for more information, but he might as well ask a hog about the butcher's plans. Fendt has little more to say to the hostile warrior than he has said already.

Tibbius tiptoes around the pentagram.
Easy there stranger......don't let these brutes hassle you. We are all a little freaked out in this place and I'm sure it's no different for you. Now, why don't we all just take a breath and think about this. There must be some "reason" for this.....Fendt (did you say) to be here, no?

Fendt avoids getting in the way of the chest and Tumbler. He does however start searching this room for any sign of his belongings trying to avoid the pentagram as much as he can.

Vorkath, paladin
Vorkath stays behind Tumbler but within 10' of him, so the thief will benefit from his Protection from Evil aura.
"Do we have a spell that could knock open that chest safely from a distance?" asks the paladin.
"In any case, the rest of you should back out of the room in case the trap is a cloud of gas or some such danger."

Tibbius smirks as the Paladin completely ignores the drama unfolding in the room.
Is this chest different from any other? If the Thief is worried, I could summon an invisible friend to open it for him.

Re: 4. The Spires of Ravenloft
Tumbler was deep in thought about the puzzle before him. He gruffly clears his throat. Ok ya mugs listen up. I am going to try to open this without setting off the trap. There is no use having a spell or an invisible ghoulie do it, the trap would go off for sure. He pauses for a moment while spitting on the ground. The trap is mechanical so I should be able to stop it from triggering. If it does trigger or if there is also a magical element to it then we may find out exactly what the pentagram is for. You recken' that Mr Vampire could rig a summon spell to be triggered by a mechanical trap? I am not sure.
He looks over towards Fendt, Don't take no offense by the group, we are in deep shit at the moment and none of us are pleasant at the best of times.
He gestures toward everyone, Ok get yerselves ready. Vork I suggest that you keep an eye on the pentagram in case god knows what appears.
He then will attempt to open the chest without triggering the mechanical trap or, if he feels that isnt possible, to disarm the trap altogether.

Vorkath, paladin
"If something is summoned, those who wish may stay close to me," says the Sword of the True God. "The aura of the True God may keep the creature at bay."
Vorkath holds his breath as Tumbler works on the chest, sword and shield at the ready, hovering a few feet off the floor.

Tibbius reassures Fendt that Agrippo isn't hostile, just gruff and under stress. So does Tumbler. "None of us are pleasant at the best of times," he admits.
Fendt looks about the room for his belongings. He sees a familiar-looking backpack under the bed. All his mundane items are there, but he does not see his armor or mace, and a potion is missing.
Tumbler emerges from deep thought about the puzzle before him. "Ok ya mugs, listen up," he says. "I am going to try to open this without setting off the trap." Concerned that the trap might summon something, Tumbler suggests that Vorkath keep an eye on the pentagram. Iluq stands near Tumbler, ready to render aid if necessary. The others gather near the paladin.
The locksmith kneels next to the chest and begins work. He holds the trap catch with one tool as he slides a thin blade between the chest body and its lid. Ever so slowly, his skilled hands slide the blade toward the latch. He holds his breath...
...and sneezes! His hands jerk reflexively at the spasm. You hear a soft click followed by a hiss as a thin green gas pours out of the chest forming a cloud engulfing Tumbler and Iluq!
Tumbler coughs, but the green gas is no match for his dwarven constitution. Iluq manages to step away before the gas reaches him.
Vorkath drops to the ground with a clang. The fly spell has expired.

Illuq steps back some more, "we need to air out that poisonous cloud!" Window or something nearby?

Fendt "Didn't you all come in through a door? Or did the big guy in the armor just bust a hole in a wall somewhere?"

Tibbius looks toward the Dwarf and chuckles a bit Maybe a ghoulie would have helped? You got a little snot in your beard by the way.The locksmith kneels next to the chest and begins work. Vorkath, paladin
Vorkath backs up all the way to the wall to stay away from the poison cloud.
"Perhaps there is a secret or trap door up, let us look quickly," he says.

BAhhhhhh Tumbler moans as he rolls out of the gas cloud.
I should shave me beard in shame for making a mistake like that! He is mortified to have messed up and is shaking with both anger and embarrassment.

Re: 4. The Spires of Ravenloft
Fendt to Tumbler "Don't take it personally Tumbler it happens even to the best of us. Trust me I know well after all I was a Spell caster and a Warrior and look at me I was able to be tricked into thinking I was inheriting this castle look how that ended for me if not for you hearty adventurers I'd likely be eating rats still." he then puts all his regular items back on and in place. Frazzled that his important items are missing still and sorely missing his armor he takes to his Bo Stick for now as a weapon. "I don't suppose you saw a mace or armor in there.....?"

Re: 4. The Spires of Ravenloft
Illuq shakes his head, "With that gas it is impossible to see anything, let us clear it out and then see if your things are in there." Illuq then checks the doorway, "Can anyone call upon a gust of wind maybe? Anything to direct the flow of that cloud..."
