004: The Mean Streets of Aki
Re: 004: The Mean Streets of Aki
”A true Zho? Let me give his blade a closer inspection.”
Walt owns a Psi-dagger (which he’s provided the pattern to Bilis). He assesses the Zho blade for special psi or tech advances. He’ll then want to go through all the Zho’s things.

Ah, yes, in book dealer terms they were surely: working copy (even worse state than a reading copy), shaken (pages nearly falling out), suffering excessive shelf wear and possibly even foxed... notwithstanding any other description...terrymixon wrote: ↑Wed Sep 04, 2024 9:33 pm They weren't in shape for anyone to see the contents, so you may never know.![]()

Garvin comments "Go to it Walt. That confirms this guy was as suspected and a pro. We need to scan an' search all his gear very carefully. Mundane and psi sensitive".
"Arkar there's yer "presser" for the interview if you need it "Conspiring with an OutWorld Agent" and with the death penalty kicker "in a Naval Dockyard". Do let 'im know that even if 'e escapes us the Imperial Navy will simply 'ang 'im.* That might bring the pains on!"
He states " 'Old up! Paired agents an' all that. Arkar you can seed your good cop role by takin' 'im to the autodoc. Make a fuss of me excessive brutality but don't give the ruddy canute any liberty at all until we're sure 'e's not a Zhodani. Maybe you can fiddle yer number of teeth so do count 'em but also run a deep tissue sample against our dead Zhodani example".
He says to Aster "The bloke that stabbed you was a Zhodani - so they're now on my shitlist. On behalf of the Guild we're going to need to know why".
(OOC: * Garvin's description may be figurative.
Trivia. One of the very recently repealed still standing UK death penalties was criminal damage/arson "in a Naval Dockyard").

It's just a normal dagger, long and thin. He has a mobile comm and other normal stuff. His ID is Imperial and looks legit. His name on it is Orin Grath.

Looks at Spicoli.

The man smells of urine. He's probably used the fresher, but it isn't helping his soiled clothes. He looks utterly terrified. "There has been a terrible misunderstanding! I did none of those things. I was attacked and brought here against my will and I... I demand to be released at once!"
Is anyone else with Arkar? Feel free to describe you entrances if so and jump in wherever you like.
Treegarden is at one of the tables in the common room with Garvin, watching. She seems tense.
Re: 004: The Mean Streets of Aki
Walt’s role was to magnify Garvin’s really bad cop. So, he will silently pace behind Garvin at the wall with the door…acting menacingly and reading his mind.
He will have sacrificed some other level in a skill that won’t be unused now in favor of a 4 in deception (up from 3).

It's all you for the opening, baby! You'll bring him to Garvin if need be.
Garvin said:
"Right 'e's quite rightly terrified of me but that might not make me the ideal interrogator. Arkar what if you play "good cop" leavin' Walt as "bad cop" - I'll 'old back as "worse cop". Now, I always like to work with what's on 'and - after all verisimilitude always sells a con. So 'ow about this: you two fish chummy out of the brig an' tell 'im it's time to talk. Bring 'im into the room an' I'll be workin' the assassin's dead body like I work the 'eavy bag in the gym - we'll need to defrost 'im. I'll whine on that the assassin's died again an' 'e needs revivin' for another go round. Arkar that's your "in" for "good cop" - 'ave a go at me for bein' a ruddy animal. Walt you can pitch that you want your own go on Nirkha 'cos you've 'eard me soundin' off about beatin' I'm to death. Arkar then offers 'im the only way out - full cooperation. Walt you're right there to Telepathically verify what Nirkha's givin' up".
"Do you think that'll work?"
This being the case, Aster will be somewhere else to let you do your thing. She'll be watching but the defrosted Zho (or rather a copy of him that you can mangle to your heart's content) is ready for action. Roscoe and Metz are with Bilis and Aster. The rest of the team is where they want to be.
Re: 004: The Mean Streets of Aki
Garvin gets up and gently lays a hand on Aster's shoulder "It's all alright love. Arkar's got this - 'e's a ruddy artiste at it 'e really is. Pleasure to work with. Walt's playin' the 'eavy but 'e's really runnin' Telepathic security. So it's all just a touch of theatre from now on. Roscoe'll look after you an' I'll be back after I've played the bad man. You might not want to watch that - I'm not sure I would. I'll come back to be with you when I'm done".terrymixon wrote: ↑Thu Sep 05, 2024 3:12 am Treegarden is at one of the tables in the common room with Garvin, watching. She seems tense.
He appears to then blank out all else and withdraws into internal focus stripping off his black shirt to leave himself clad in black trousers and combat boots. He then incongruously dons plain black leather gloves and taking up a skipping rope begins to skip. His dexterity and workrate are as impressive as they are apparently effortless. He nevertheless builds up a sweat.

Re: 004: The Mean Streets of Aki
OOC: OK, so here's the "grim sauce" intro/plug in for use (or not) as suits Walt/Arkar's play:
On entering the room all that can be immediately seen is the muscle play of Garvin's back. Due to the room's slight chill steam visibly rises from his body. The exhalations of his breath coincide with the serial combination strikes from his fists on the target suspended from the ceiling mounted chain. Garvin grates "... is why if I break too many ribs you'll just check out early!" He pauses "You still in there, fekker???" Stripped to the waist he wears plain black gloves an sweats freely. He moves in to tilt up the apparently lifeless face of the man who associated with Nirkha at the space port. "You fekkin' died again, son? You don't get off that easy! Back in the autodoc for you then we'll go another round, eh?"
Suddenly noticing he has company he glares hatred at Nirkha "Evenin' Captain, you'll get yours once I'm done with this sack of shit!" He lifts the deceased man from the hook securing his handcuffs and allows the body to smack into the floor. Then, stooping to grip the handcuffs he drags the facedown corpse from the room.
