HYPERBOREA (LFP)
Hey gang!
I am looking to convert my current homebrewed Astonishing Swordsmen and Sorcerers of Hyperborea (2E) game into a sandbox style adventure using the brand new Hyperborea 3E ruleset.
Some of the PC's already involved in the game will be sticking around, while any newcomers will start out at 1st level and build their characters up through rigorous gameplay as usual. (if you don't have the rulebooks, but enjoy gritty old-school style D&D, this system is about as close to AD&D as one can get, with a few very minor changes to rolls etc., which I will gladly help you out with)
Instead of simply taking the first 5 players who see this or whatever, I will take any and all interested players that respond, breaking larger groups down into multiple parties if necessary. I usually post updates about every 2 days or so, but try to match a comfortable pace for the players. (this could vary somewhat with a second or third group involved)
This will be a desert themed Sandbox style adventure, akin to some of the great published adventures we all know and love, but strictly driven by PC action and involvement. I will post some teasers of the type of game you can expect, so please ask away if you have any questions about any of this.
Visual teasers:
So, any new takers?

Yup. I'll get a character concept together, and if you'll have me, I'm in.

Re: HYPERBOREA (LFP)
I'd be interested in joining. I haven't played Hyperborea but I've got the 3rd Edition rules and I've played and run other old-school editions of D&D.
Depending on the character creation guidelines and prereqs, I'm thinking a Moor spellcaster, probably Pyromancer or Illusionist.

Love it!
You are in tpj!
For anyone messing around with character generation, I really liked the way Scott filled in the US sheet, adding the different checks and using the notes tab for other information. So please use it as a reference if you will. (hopefully he doesn't mind me posting this

Our new game thread is already up, and everyone who showed interest has been added to the game, so go ahead and start discussing your character concepts over there if you like.

A little late to the party, but I'd like to join if I may. Have to read up on the setting though.

On November 2nd I will be participating in another 24 hour game of Dungeons & Dragons as part of Extra Life. This organization uses gaming to help raise money to donate to children's hospitals. I'm raising money for Marshfield Children's Hospital in Marshfield, WI, and all money I raise will go to that hospital. All donations are tax-deductible. Please take a moment to check out my donation page below. Thank you.

I will bump this back up as we are just getting started in town, making it a great time to climb aboard.
Anyone else out there interested in some gritty old school, weird science, swords and sorcery?

I'm game for this. I have the ASSH book...but I'm guessing the 3E Hyperborea book is required here? At least the Player's manual?
Re: HYPERBOREA (LFP)
Hey
Which version of the ASSH book do you have? There isn't much between the 2E and Hyperborea (3e) book.

If you have the 2E book, you should be able to get through character creation without issue.
The 3E Players Manual would be helpful if you wanted to try playing one of the newer Races, but very little has changed with the Classes between 2E and 3E.

Yeah - I'm pretty sure I have 2E at home. Either way, add me in!

Re: HYPERBOREA (LFP)
2E would be the big red book. It weighs about 20 pounds, so its hard to mistake with another.
I will add you in and request a private thread be set up for you where we can discuss character builds. (mentally communes with the powers that be)
Thanks for the interest!
