Investigator Creation

#1 Post by OGRE MAGE »

Here is the Quick Start link that was posted the other thread. You can use this to start out with for creating your investigators.

https://www.chaosium.com/content/FreePD ... 0Rules.pdf

As already mentioned, this game will start out in Harlem, New York, circa 1925.

You don't need to be from there, but you certainly can be if you like.

This game will be a bit of a murder mystery, so if you want to keep that in mind when picking your profession, that might help. It might be a good idea to have at least one PC with a police or PI background, (or something similar) but it wont be a deal breaker if we go without. A reporter or another investigator type would work as well.

If anyone has or knows of a decent template we can use for sheets, that would be helpful too.

Please post any questions about creating your PC's here in this thread.

Thanks!

I am just checking that using the Quickstart rules we assign stats rolls of 40,50,50,50,60,60,70,80 as we see fit.

I think I am going to try for some journalist 'hack' reporter, one of those 'ambulance chasers' looking for the next big story and manipulating the news for his own ends.

I was inspired by one of my dad's favourite movies which had Kirk Douglas starrng in such a role in the film 'Ace in the Hole'.

Oh we also have the 1st roll of the campaign:

Calvin CoC Luck roll [3d6]=13 x5 65 Luck points.

This is correct. You can assign those stats as desired, then everyone should start out on a fairly even playing field.

I dig the idea of an ambulance chaser. :D

Nice roll!

Character concept:

Darwin, his trained stage monkey

I believe Calvin has written an article or two on Thurston and the stage magic fad, and they have become friends.

Awesome!

If Bluetongue is amicable to this idea, I encourage any organic connections the investigators want to come up with.

I am busy at work right now so won't be able to tackle this until Saturday. Thankfully I have some time off so will have plenty of time after this week.

Seeing a lot of really cool ideas so far!

No rush on this at all, Rex.

Once everyone has a sheet posted and approved, we will let the insanity begin. :SAN:

I am thinking something like a private investigator who works as a bouncer type at a Jazz night club to make ends meet.

I have created a character called Doug Clifford, a beat cop with a strong Bronx accent. He’s heavily build but a little clumsy.

[3d6]=14 Luck Points This gives him a Luck of 70.

If this character is approved, I’ll work on a little backstory.

I can approve once I see the sheet, but the concept sounds great.

I am getting a "cant view" message when I try to download your sheet. Is anyone else able to see it?

Maybe you could post it as a pic in an attachment for us instead?

You have to open it outside of a browser, adobe or something like that. I can try as an attachment as well but if you try and open it with a browser it wont work. There is a message about that on the Chosium website.
