Re: GM preparation style
So, I’ve been thinking about this. The type and amount of preparation required might also depend upon the adventure being run. And the type/style of DM. A dungeon crawl, for instance, is easier to prepare for than an urban encounter, where there are considerably more NPCs to prepare. Likewise, a DM ...

Re: Project Overview
I tend to start as close to the action as possible, while still grounding the characters in the scene. This. I especially agree with your fourth and fifth points. In fact, I should thank you for your point 4.1. Reading that made me rethink the plans for how I planned on starting this module. P.S. B...

Re: New Game Request
Maybe it depends on style? Or person. I know, when I get the inspiration to start a new game, I usually haven’t thought it through in much detail. And I’m the type of DM that likes to front load a lot of the work.. Players, in their own excitement, are itching to get started — or, that’s the sense ...

Re: New Game Request
I find that letting players in early helps them bounce ideas off of each other and the DM, as well as building the camaraderie in the team. You can have a private forum for DM notes, those things you want to keep with the game but not let anyone else see. This is true from a player’s perspective. F...

Re: New Game Request
A new forum -- The Halls of Arden Vul (OSE) -- has been set up and placed at the end of the list of games, just above the 'Scenario Simulator (All the Rules!)' forum. Also, per our PM conversation, I've gone ahead and created a private 'DM Notes' sub-forum, which only you (and site admins) will have...

Re: Players running NPCs
What if you set up a game where each PC had a small number of significant NPCs, and those NPCs were played by other Players in the game? I really love the idea of PCs making efforts to establish relationships with local NPCs, and building out a network of contacts. As for the control, however... Pa...

Re: Project Overview
I know this is archived, but I will occasionally still check in and provide quick status updates. So, honestly, I can't even remember where I left things in terms of updates here on the forums (I work primarily in Google Docs and Apple Notes), and it will probably just be easier for me to just provi...

Re: Private forum requests
This is done, but can be edited if you want to change its placement (top of the list instead of bottom), or if you want to make it private.
