Re: Chapter 4: Strange Pursuit

Dang, there’s only a tiny sliver of a hex with line of sight from the West windows of the ranch house house between the old barn's NE corner and the big oak tree/corner of the dog-trot house. The South windows have no line of sight. And that sliver is behind the spindly legs of the windmill. So my ...

Re: Law of the Gun OOC

I like the brutal honesty of the history on both sides.

Thinking of reading “War Before Civilization: The Myth of the Peaceful Savage” after “Power to Save the World” next.

Re: Law of the Gun OOC

I’m currently reading “Empire of the Summer Moon”. Fascinating account of Commanche history and their interaction with Texans.

Written by a historian, but a very interesting tale. Available on Audiobook as well. The audiobook narration is excellent.

Re: Chapter 4: Strange Pursuit

DT nods at Gidean. With a touch of his hat brim he says: God be with y’all. Send these low-down sorry excuses for men to their judgement. I believe ya can’t negotiate with Evil. Under the mesquites, DT rucks his medical backpack (with beef, bread, and cornbread) and canteen, and he yet again checks ...

Re: Chapter 4: Strange Pursuit

Gidean, that sounds like a good plan. I bet that shotgun does just fine from the outhouse. Wish I had one about now. I think it best if you wait for my signal. If you're going to start things this way, I may or may not move in to scout up close. We'll see. Ya, I figure I'm going to have to crawl th...

Re: Chapter 4: Strange Pursuit

I meant, if anyone didn't want to ride their horses back to the mesquite thicket, DT previously offered to lead their riderless horse and leave it where he leaves Ajax. In this case, Andreas could move on foot into the gully from the far South (where we glassed the ranch from the South) and move No...

Re: Law of the Gun OOC

We haven’t really settled how we’re going to kick the hornets nest with the Shepherd Brothers gang. We’re not all in place yet, but the PCs would need to discuss the plan prior to going separate ways… Once all previously stated actions are resolved, DT intends to signal Andreas/William on the South...

Just FYI: DT previously offered to lead any PC’s horses not needed on the South side of the ranch.

Can you be a bit more specific on where you want to be when someone in the group kicks up the hornet’s nest?

Re: Chapter 4: Strange Pursuit

a little confused on the tactics and not sure where Andreas is needed - he has a rifle, but no skill, he has a double action revolver, but he's not s gunslinger - pistol 1 It looks like Gidean is going to move in close on the South side of the house. William is almost 200 yards to the South as a sn...

Re: Chapter 4: Strange Pursuit

Andreas Larson "I haf little skill mit pistol und knife. Nicht mit der rifle." DT: So, are you going in close then…like Gidean and me? What would y’all think about one of us going into the makeshift corral and getting the horses stirred up and making a ruckus. One or more of them low-down...

Re: Chapter 4: Strange Pursuit

How big is the tree in the chicken yard, and can a man walk or kneel/stoop below the foliage? I’m thinking about whether that tree offers cover to/from the East window(s).

Re: MILLION CREDIT COMM JOB

I’m thinking that once I change, we, all of us, go back and shoot these things. The momma wolverine obviously views them as a threat….so, she’ll have a safe home with them dead.

Then we can split!

Mick: Um, blokes. I need to get outta this pressure suit before doing much else. It’s plenty warm in here, but I’m going to need my cold weather clothing from my duffle in the ATV. Re: Chapter 4: Strange Pursuit

DT: Well damnit, Gidean. If you’re barging on in there, I’m going with you in close. Maybe some go in the front door, the back door, and some cover through the windows. But y’ain’t going in alone. Can’t get the drop on ‘em through the front door with the dogs lounging on the porch the way they are. ...

Re: Chapter 4: Strange Pursuit

The land generally slopes up to the north, with a different of maybe 10 to 15 feet. As it does from the center to the east and west, with a difference of 5 to 10 ft. With such a slight slope (10-15 feet difference over a quarter-mile or more, I would expect it’s possible for a person to walk (possi...
