Are there any in-the-classroom educators that are overpaid and underworked?

Happy "Insane to do that to yourself for so little pay" Week!

Otherwise known as "Teacher Appreciation". 8-) My wife was a teacher for a while; 12-16 hours a day, 6-7 days a week, and "Would you like fries with that" pay.

For all of you Teachers, thank you. I still recall a few of my good ones, nearly half a century later.

Re: The Margrave's Council (Summer 669)

And we need to arm Morwen's troops with as much Fire Breath as we can. Not sure how much is left, and how easy it is to make more. And who can help with the work. I'll work on the details of the troops today, of the 100, it's mostly LI. I need to figure out which Henches are along as well. Will get...

Re: [off topic] Autism and Fiction

Living with autism, or with someone who is autistic, isn't always fun. I'd like to make sure the characters and struggles are portrayed well, and this is where you come in. If you want to talk, in public or private, feel free to reach out. It isn't anything I need to talk about, but both of my daug...

Re: The Margrave's Council (Summer 669)

While the late night meeting still swam through his head, along with memories of shared smiles and glances with Fylla , Ji-ho pushed himself to focus on the moment. It was early, but not too early. Aneq had sent half his force, along with half of Zruk 's riders, as a guard for Gurav , Magarra , and ...

Re: [off topic] Autism and Fiction

John Anderson Character has just knocked on a door that advertised "roommate wanted". John stood there. After too long of a moment, he lowered his left hand, and, with his right, held up the "roommate wanted" flier. The young woman in front of him looked shocked, and then her fa...

[off topic] Autism and Fiction

Hey all, I'd like your help tackling a difficult topic. You all are the only social group I'm really a part of, so my apologies if this isn't strictly game related. A decade ago atpollard started a Traveller game on another forum. The world was so richly populated that I couldn't resist writing fict...

It might help to post in the "Looking for Players" thread, and explain what the game is about and what you're looking for.

Re: The Margrave's Council (Summer 669)

JJh will encourage the Dawi to join in the northern march, as it should make scouting KG easier by slowing down a threat. In theory, the initial KG scouting could happen after the northern march, and before winter. That would give the cold season to prepare and plan.

Re: The Margrave's Council (Summer 669)

How would Morwen feel about using her folk as aerial recon over the orcs? What would be the best time of day to maximize view and minimize risk? That should give us a better idea on numbers, see if they have prisoners and what-not, and where they are concentrated. In reality, any party with a few R...

Re: Discussion (out of character thread)

I'm happy to game the political and larger military stuff on my own, assuming scarik wants to run it. I don't exclude anyone who wants to be involved, but am also happy to solo it. CarrieVS , I'm not sure what you mean by a "closed question", can you expand on that? For political stuff, JJ...

Re: Discussion (out of character thread)

One of the things we've talked about is that JJh and I seem the main ones intent on doing army stuff. The plan thus accounts for that; PCs and their minions can be in the army if they want, or they can be with the smaller adventuring groups. Or you can be in both; go with the army for the planned sh...

Re: The Margrave's Council (Summer 669)

I'm reading a book about the mental game in boxing, and seeing how the concepts relate to many other factors in life. And in the game, which is part of what JJh is doing. By getting the army together, and used to marching together, seeing what everyone else can do, it normalizes "being an army...

Re: The Margrave's Council (Summer 669)

Ji-ho glanced at Darfilla and got a nod in reply. "Eastfort also has a mage's lab, and Darfilla can instruct in how to make fire potions and fire magic. We saw the benefit against the kobolds, and I'm not sure who could stand against Friend Morwen's people so equipped." He looked around t...

Re: The Margrave's Council (Summer 669)

Ji-ho thought for a moment. "In my homeland, orcs are often mercenaries and functional, if not exemplary, soldiers. While I hesitate to brand the entire species based on what we've seen here, it does make me wonder. Someone is using them as mercenaries. To a degree, our fight isn't against the...
