Re: Watchfort Reclamation, Summer 668

the sack does not return. Only the marvelous sword. It has excellent balance and holds an edge sharp enough to shave. Cool. I wasn't sure on the sack so I took the more inclusive course. I have edited it out of my response above. Jing Ji-ho Still recovering, Ji-ho make sure he got out and observed ...

Jing Ji-h o I'm assuming the sack is there as well. "Well, that's interesting," Ji-ho said, looking at the sword and the sack. It was a time of quiet rest for him, one of many lately. He shrugged, leaned over, and examined the sword. "Yes, the same one. Darfilla said the sword can tr...

Re: GM preparation style

The type and amount of preparation required might also depend upon the adventure being run. And the type/style of DM. A dungeon crawl, for instance, is easier to prepare for than an urban encounter, where there are considerably more NPCs to prepare. So...that depends. One of the guys at a local Wha...

Jing Si-woo Standing off by himself for a few moments, Si-woo gathered his thoughts. The past few days had been glorious. Well, the evenings, nights, and mornings were. Si-woo rested in contentment for a full minute, and then cleared his mind for the task at hand. Tylar 's original plan for Si-woo'...

GM preparation style

Maybe it depends on style? Or person. I know, when I get the inspiration to start a new game, I usually haven’t thought it through in much detail. And I’m the type of DM that likes to front load a lot of the work.. Players, in their own excitement, are itching to get started — or, that’s the sense ...

Re: New Game Request

Maybe it depends on style? I tend to use whatever the players share as I do the finishing touches of the first part of the dungeon. Most of my dungeons develop as the players progress.

Re: New Game Request

Also, is it possible to keep things under wraps until I have an opportunity to get things built out for the players or will everything be "under construction" once it is up? Regarding this, the forum is technically live now that it has been set up, but until players are added to it (see b...

Woo-hoo! I'm pretty sure we have plenty of food and supplies to spare.

On the sword, if it's something only a Ravenfolk can use, Morwen could either 'buy' it for Macnav, or sell it to Corbin. Otherwise it's something the group would have to discuss.

Jing Ji-ho Assuming this is said once he's a bit less under then undead flu. "The idea of it is fine, the risk of it is high. The land between here and there is not yet settled and too small of a group could get killed. Let's wait for the next resupply run, and that will minimize risk." J...

Re: Players running NPCs

Part of the idea is to add variety while taking a load off the DM's plate. Another part is to add more story to the games, more background and depth. This might be tricky. Especially when it comes to... How do you handle conflict and disagreement , choices, decisions. This. I do think it's an inter...

You know me, always looking for situational modifiers. 8-) Si-woo specifically spoke well of the knights, and Sir Schad by name. He also affirmed Tylar's leadership and his own dedication to success, as well has having Leader feat so Tylar knows Si-woo will bring whatever group he's with forward.

Same; easy to work around since I'm only in one game and don't get a lot of updates each day. :)

Jing Si-woo Si-woo bowed to Sir Tylar , and said respectfully, "My cousin would not hesitate to help, if he were here. I will act as he would; and support you to my best ability." He looked back at the map for a moment, and then turned squarely to Sir Tylar. Taking off his helm, he went t...

Re: Project Overview

I tend to start as close to the action as possible, while still grounding the characters in the scene. In The Unknown Darkness the characters were on the edge of a wooded area, as soon as they left their spot they would be exposed to risk. This gave several advantages: 1. Characters were isolated fr...

Players running NPCs

I'm not sure if this is a brilliant idea or a side effect of still being sick, but I was re-reading a couple of Dresden Files books and got to thinking/hallucinating. In fiction, the main character (MC) seldom goes it totally alone. They have contacts, henchpersons, and sidekicks to work with. Often...

Morphin

Once the area is cleared, there will be time to dig and sift treasure from the dirt. It becomes the usual standard of half of the hands digging, half watching. It will take longer, of course, but safety is key.
