Re: Paladin - Have Gun, Will Trave
Role-playing to Paladin’s beliefs and morals… Paladin brought up his rifle to shoot but stopped. The kid was young, hopefully the shock of this would make him rethink his life choices. With Bass and the other two men dead, the gang was done. With a deep breath Paladin shouldered his rifle and climb...

Re: Scroll 1 - The Master Craftsman's Tea Vessel
Jinsei, realizing the dog hadn’t detected them, yet Fuma was stepping east instead of joining him under the floor , per the plan, chirped a cricket sound and wildly waved his arm for his fellow ninja to stop. He signed quickly - let dog come to us! movement is risk! two blowguns better then one! wai...

Re: Scroll 1 - The Master Craftsman's Tea Vessel
Fuma climbing rolled failed, but his ninjutsu roll succeeded, so he remains undetected. He needs a successful (Deftness/2) +1 roll to climb the wall. Using the numbers on the map, please state where he climbs. Last evening, Kaida saw the dog sheltering from the rain under the columned walkway in th...

Turn 12 - Initiative Robber
Paladin was glad to see another train guard got it together to help. Paladin reloaded two bullets, keeping an eye on the last robber riding west.

Re: OOC Chat
Okay, I have groped closer to understanding. So the 5 xp gained for Latin is applied in Spring. I had thought it had to be applied/learned in Summer and blow the Fall adventure opportunity. So the Summer is non-earning, and Cugel cases the Covenant, considers a con, and seduces a woman or two with L...

Re: OOC Chat
Non-magical-art abilities cost 5x for leveling up: so 5 pts in one of those would get you to level 1--sorry for the confusion. It's a weird quirk of the xp system that things progress at two different rates. Here is Cugel’s spend of his 5 xp from Spring 1221: Charm +1 to 3 Guile +1 to 2 Brawl +1 to...

Re: Paladin - Have Gun, Will Travel/current
The Turns are beginning to blend too much in my mind, so to avoid confusion, I tallied the initiative rolls and the latest Turn is 11. The robbers are at 113 yards at end of Turn 10 (Look at May 11 post when it switched to Combat Turn, add movement of 32, to bring to 113.) By end of Turn 11, its 32...

Re: Summer 1221 - The Luminous Codex [Arduin]
Arduin puffed on his long pipe and walked over to the window, looking out upon the brambles crowding the back. “ The clues point toward fey,” the magus said with more confidence than he believed. “The unnatural plant growth, the antler mask, the characteristics of the cottage stove strangeness, the ...

Re: Summer 1221 - The Luminous Codex [Arduin]
"Julie. Your name is fitting. Only a single letter away from jolie ." 'jolie' is french for 'pretty.' A nice coincidence. I was thinking Julia Childs the famous (but less pretty) chef. Demon tainted porridge, that is one I haven’t heard before , thought Arduin. Something to tell the Coven...

Re: At the Covenant - Secondary Focus
I see. I hadn’t realized two seasons were do nothing, I thought it was non-adventure stuff like studying. So in Spring 1221 Bran and Cugel adventured, and in Fall they will rotate back in. So by the rules I guess Cugel just lounges around in Summer and Winter.

Re: At the Covenant - Secondary Focus
My understanding was for the Summer he was studying Latin, which we discussed as an option in the posts about XP. Then in the Fall he’d go on an adventure with Bran. Is that still the case? If not, then he’d forego Latin (or just suspend his lessons) as I don’t want to tie him up with that and miss...

https://webstockreview.net/images/divider-clipart-chapter-16.png L ater that day, Shabsai Weil offered Cugel tutelage in Latin. Cugel considered the offer. With his residence in the Covenant, the thief had a rare period of stability that afforded him the luxury to pursue such pleasures and wayward ...

Re: Law of the Gun OOC
Hmm. Confirming that the rules say point blank is up to 2 yds. We're going to have to make a decision together about this. The way the weapons table (Table 14) is set up, makes it look like Short range begins at 30 yds. The number is right under the Short column, after all. But if that's the case, ...

Re: Paladin - Have Gun, Will Travel
On the Sniping, I had read that. I interpreted the key phrase as “If that shot sets off a general gunfight, the sniper loses his sniping benefit on any subsequent shots.” In Paladin’s case, a general gunfight hasn’t happened, as the targets are doing movement. For example, in Main St. Anytown a few...

Re: Summer 1221 - The Luminous Codex [Arduin]
Arduin pondered the connection if any between the unnatural growth and the priest’s allegedly lascivious behavior. The growth seemed indicative of fey magic, while the priest possession or influence seemed infernal in nature. A rural clergyman would know better than to sow his oats in his own field ...

Re: Summer 1221 - The Luminous Codex [Arduin]
I decided to name our anonymous cook ;) Arduin thought it wise to proceed slowly with the cook Julia de Childe, letting her offer her story and thoughts before confronting the woman with the tougher questions. “ Julia, thank you for talking with us. My name is Arduin and this is Gertrude. Simon has...

Initiative [1d6+1]=3+1=4 Declared Action: So according to Reloading rules, its 2 bullets per Combat Turn, or one bullet every three seconds. Paladin will load one bullet and fire it at the retreating robber he just hit. This will enable one shot before the target goes medium range (assuming continu...

Re: Summer 1221 - The Luminous Codex [Arduin]
Curiouser and curiouser… Arduin listened with interest to Hubert’s further confessions. The priest’s apparent involvement was a wrinkle. “ We speak with the cook next. Pray tell Hubert of her innocence, and any other details you recall.” The magus couldn't resist adding: ”For the devil may be in th...
