SCAVENGER HUNT: Episode Three: That's No Moon

#1 Post by max_vale »

Aboard the Nova Kestrel in the 'Paradise System'

As Cal Tak Dornan puts the Ghtroc 720 freighter thru some evasive maneuvers, Vale Starcloud stretches out with his feelings, calling on the Empathy power of the Force; feeling some of the beings on the strange ship are harboring aggression, some fear, but mostly just greed, calmness and confidence.....this was a crew of professionals.....whoever they were....

The Jedi Student's senses of the strange, stealthy assault ship were broken as the Nova Kestrel apparently managed to break away from the other ship, largely due to Cal's expert piloting skills and Jackson's solid ability to call out new vectors to lose their pursuer. Soon, they were getting closer and closer to the moon of junk....

The sphere of junk was massive and seemed to have once been part of some massive capital ship or more likely, a space station as the broken and jagged surface here and there revealed a honeycomb of broken corridors, deck supports and conduits. Even stranger, according to the scanners, Crodowski could see that for much of the 'trash moon', there was a gravity field keeping in together.

Suddenly, the blue-furred form of Spilfer was in the cockpit and with wide, gleaming eyes and an ear to ear grin, the little Squib shouts out excitedly, "There be the object of our quest!" while pointing right at the center of the massive mass of junk.

Seeing Cal, Jakson and Clark all staring at him incredulously, he quickly adds; "I mean, it be ON that!" and with a shaking of heads, the humans all go back to looking closer at the site to see if there's anywhere they could actually set the Nova Kestrel down.....

Jackson and Cal both see two possibilities, a collapsed bulkhead flat enough and large enough to serve as a landing platform and a massive tubular section of a chute that must have once been a massive air or disposal shaft of some kind, but one which now would serve as a solid landing 'hangar'.

In addition to those two possible sites, Professor Clark notices that half hidden under a massive about of detritus, a large airlock that once must have been part of a colossal hangar was available as a landing spot, though the approach would be tricky. The Academic turned Rebel also realized that thanks to Spilfer's earlier 'alterations' to one of the space suits on board, they only had 3 Utility Vacuum Suits (plus one more that now only fit Spilfer) and Jackson's Flight/Vac suit for any actions on the 'trash moon'; meaning 2 of the party would have to stay on the ship....

Which landing spot would the Rebels choose.....

"I say that airlock's perfect, we'll be out of sight of our pursuers." Clark opines.

OOC: Answering Rex's question: Yes, because she's so short (for a Wookie, 6'5" is pretty short :) ), one of the suits WILL fit her. Basically, because Spilfer altered one to only fit him and Jackson has his own Flight Suit, it's who among Cal, Vale, Kit, Zuul and Clark get to wear the 3 suits. Kit takes one, so that's 2 left....

"I will volunteer to stay behind on the ship," offers Vale. He sets his comlink settings so that the landing party can stay in contact.

Zuul

Zuul defers to those he deems smarter than he. So...everyone? :lol:

"Whatever you say, Professor." Zuul stands tall and straight, awaiting orders.

"I should be able to set down by the airlock, yeah."

Cal will carefully maneuver the Kestrel over to the airlock.

"When she's landed, I can stay on the ship if needed, just to keep her running and maybe provide a little fire support if you need it later."

Aboard the Nova Kestrel in the 'Paradise System'

Cal takes a look at the narrow entrance, takes a breath and maneuvers the Ghtroc freighter VERY carefully towards it.....

[5d6+2] = 17+2 = 19

Very, very smoothly he sets the ship down, missing scraping the edges of the ship by less than half a meter on either side, and Jackson and Clark can't help but be impressed by the piloting skills of their companion.....

That done, Jackson dons his Flight Suit and Flight Helmet while Kit, Zuul and Clark* don the other 3 Utility suits and Spilfer is impatiently waiting at the entrance to the ramp in his make-shift 'borrowed' suit. Cal works the controls to seal off the area and the ramp is lowered and the quintet of humanoids march down the ramp and into the dark airlock leading into.....wherever/whatever this place was....

Kit and Clark both hold glowrods and their light beams pierce the massive 'tunnel' leading into the structure showing a mangled, but structurally sound interior of some destroyed ship or station with still functioning gravity. Moving into the structure, it's eerily quiet and here and there sections of the wall have been torn open and wiring cut and removed. Not long after entering, a storage locker is found with one door open, revealing two intact Utility Suits. Looking at each other, the Rebels gather the suits up and head back to the Nova Kestrel.....

Staying behind was weighing HEAVILY on both Vale and Cal as El-Nine regaled them with non-stop stories of feasts and dishes he had made for THIS person and THAT person and it was almost as if in response to their prayers that Clark was suddenly waving at them to lower the ramp and as they did so, their fellow Rebels came on board and handed them the intact Vacuum Suits.

Vale and Cal wasted VERY little time getting into the suits and trudging forth into the structure; at the center of which was apparently Spilfer's 'Quest Object'.....leaving El Nine behind on the ship, but with a comlink 'FOR EMERGENCIES ONLY'....

As the band of Rebels followed their eager Squib 'guide' into the bowels of the Trash Moon, they soon grew disoriented from the numerous twists and turns thru half-destroyed hallways and chambers. As they moved into a large open room, Professor Clark was sure he saw something in the corner of the massive room, something had moved, but when he shined his glowrod in that direction, nothing was there......

*Please let me know what everyone is carrying...and remember, you're in Space Suits (not bulky, but still....you can't have a dozen weapons stuffed in your pockets....or you can, but you can't get to them)....and at least two of you are carrying glowrods (flashlights)

"Keep alert, I thought I just saw something." Clark announces. He grasps his Heavy Blaster Pistol in his hand (the glowrod being held in his offhand).

~~~~~
Clark is carrying the following items. If you think it's too much Max, I've listed them by priority so just start dropping things from the bottom of the list until a reasonable amount of items is attained.
Commlink
Glowrod
Chronometer
Vibroblade
Heavy Blaster Pistol
Equipment tool kit
10-meter coil of synth rope w/ grappling hook
Grapnel thrower
Macrobinoculars
Blaster Rifle
Kit
Kit scans around for whatever it was they saw.
She has a glow rod in hand, her blaster carbine slung over her shoulder and her light saber on her belt plus a bandolier of med packs.
Jackson nerves were already on fire from roaming around in the labyrinth of tunnels. To be told the Professor saw something which is no longer there was like bouncing on that last frayed nerve. He kept his blaster rifle pointing in the direction he was looking, his trigger finger pressed against the body of the rifle.
=================================================================
-Blaster Rifle (5D damage; Range: 50/150/300 meters)
-1 Powerpack for Blaster Rifle (50 shots)
-Flight/Vacuum Suit and Flight Helmet
-Backpack
-Tool belt with Equipment Repair and Vehicle Repair tools
-Comlink
-Handheld monocular (telescope)
Vale Starcloud
Vale dons his suit and takes his lightsaber, commlink, syntherope, and medpacs, leaving the rest on the Kestrel.
(edit: I'm assuming he's still wearing his armored clothing underneath the suit, but if he can't, he'll leave that behind too)
As soon as Clark spots movement, Vale takes closes his eyes and takes a deep breath, trying to sense emotions emanating from that direction.
If he senses something cowering in fear, he calls out: "It is alright to come out. We mean you no harm."
If he senses something prowling with malice, he whispers to the party: "Watch yourselves. Something here means to harm us."
Zuul
"Glad you could join uss. It was fortunate that we found those suitss."
Zuul turns the other way as Clark points out something in the dark. A perfect opportunity for misdirection, he thinks.
Zuul is carrying his light repeater blaster, the electrostaff, and has a knife strapped to the outside of his suit.
Plus a glowstick, blast vest, and has his comlink on.
"It's lucky you found these things. Lucky for us, that is. I'm not sure I could've listened to another story about meals."
Cal is carrying his blaster pistol, a comlink, and if there's space for a medkit that someone needs him to carry, he can hold one of those.
On the 'surface' of the 'Trash Moon'l in the 'Paradise System'
The band of half-a-dozen Rebels and their Squib 'guide' all grew very paranoid as Professor Clark and Kit shone their glowrods this way and that, trying to find whatever Clark had seen move, but with no success....
Vale reached out with his Force senses and felt PERHAPS a tiny bit of fear, anger, bitterness....but then nothing, making the young Jedi Student come back to the 'here and now' with a start and a confused look in his eyes....
Shrugging their shoulders collectively, the party moved on into the bowels of the 'moon'. Moving into a large series of large tubes that had CLEARLY once been used as part of the disposal (i.e. sewer and drainage system) of the space station, the Rebels are all VERY glad that their helmets are keeping the smell of the....STUFF....all around them from reaching their nostrils. Spilfer on the other hand is grabbing bits of junk left and right, excitedly yipping out over the comms; "This is GREAT!.....Even MORE good stuff!....Youse all SURE you don't want any of this treasure?", and he smiles hugely at them when they all reassure him that they're good.....
Eventually, the disposal tube system ends and the Rebels gratefully move into what had once been some kind of secure storage area if the knocked over lockers and smashed apart crates were any indication. As they got closer, there were numerous 'Stormtrooper One' Blaster carbines spread all over the place, along with several broken bits of Stormtrooper armor and a pile of drained blaster power-packs. A close look at the weapons showed that NONE of them had an operational power pack and moving out beyond the storage area, they came to a large, angular hallway with numerous columns running its length.
A large, half-open blast door on the opposite end of the room could be seen in the light beam of the glowrods perhaps 40 meters away. Spilfer excitedly called out, "We's getting close now to the quest object!", and he quickly moved towards the open blast door when numerous figures on either side of the group came out from behind the pillars in front, to the sides and behind the Rebel band....
All in all, a dozen droids of various model types walked, floated and rolled out....including a pair of floating IT-0 Interrogation Droids that came out on the left and right of the group (1 to each side) with numerous arms ending in scalpels, needles and a clawed hand with an improvised Stormtrooper Blaster held in it....
Image
At the back of the group, those who had been on the 'Black Ice' mission (Clark, Zuul and Jackson) recognize the thick armored humanoid DD series of Droids made for taking care of mynocks (with built in blaster)
Image
Flanking each of these 3 Droids (that is, each IT-0 and the DD droid) are a pair of MSE-6 'mouse droids' that roll out with a small Scout Trooper Blaster Pistol jury rigged to each's top side (6 total, 2 to each side and 2 in the back)....
Image
And at the front of the Rebel group, perhaps the most alarming sight of all, a 2 meter tall KS Security Droid with a Blaster pistol in each hand steps forward....
Image
The tall Security Droid speaks; "Greetings biologicals.....put down all mechanical devices that have a power source now and immediately leave this place and we'll let you live. You have 10 seconds to comply"......
Vale speaks calmly, hoping these rogue droids all have beef against the Empire. "We mean you no harm. We may even be allies. Has the Empire driven you into hiding here? We may be able to help."
Clark awaits an answer to Vale's question, but makes no move to comply with the droid's order.
Jackson awaits the answer as well, however he does make sure his blaster rifle is pointing down so as to keep the droids from getting itchy.
