OGL License?

#1 Post by Leitz »

I have Cepheus Engine, released under the OGL. What I understand from the license is that if I:
  1. Don't claim to be WotC or Cepheus (Flynn), and
  2. I include a copy of the relevant license (OGL 1.0a), then
  3. I can draft up a simple game that messes up a lot of stuff, and give it away.
What am I missing, if anything?

adding to this question - if you use an OGL licence for the game mechanics, can you sell a game setting you create using an OGL?

i, too, have ideas for a game, modifying existing OGLs
gaming since 1980

I don't know if anyone here is qualified to offer you legal advice on this topic.

That said, here are some links that might provide useful information: I'm sure, with a little Googling, even more information is out there.

Good luck!

Can I just say that I'm glad that even after all this time, people with fresh eyes are finding the OGL? It truly had tremendous impact!
