Gurung

Gurung, ignoring the discomfort in his side charges the nearest Japanese soldier (J1) who is up and attacks twice with his khukuri.

Dutch
Dutch looks over his sights for a moment to appraise the situation, then selects a target and squeezes off one round. He chooses the soldier furthest from himself.

SGT Acme

The suppressing fire of the LMG is deafening. "Shut that guy up!" He yells to Wade, then sees him lining him up.

Marvin fires another shot at his last target, trying to do more than wound him this time. "Stay down, boys! We'll clear it up for you."

Wade hearing these orders from the sergeant changes tactics and moves up to close in a bit and fires at the loud enemy soldier.

OOC: if this action is possibly close another 10 yards then fire at the same wounded target. Luck point used if needed.

Mediocre Fred sniffs the air. His newly enhanced senses pick up the scent of fresh meat, with just a hint of fear. Mmmm. Fear. Tasty, tasty fear.

He grabs his trusty rifle, hunkers down into the brush, and stalks his would-be ambushers.

Night of 24-25 January, 1942; 'The Points', South West Coast of the Bataan Pennisula on the island of Luzon, Philippines

'Fight One: I.E. SGT Acme's squad'

PFC Wade MacGyver closed his eyes for a moment, took a deep breath and as he breathed out, his eyes snapped open and he was suddenly rushing forward, Thompson tucked into his shoulder and aiming for the Japanese soldier with the light machinegun. He looked down the sights of his weapon and stroked the trigger, sending a 5 round burst flying true and stitching across the Japanese soldier's side and chest, dropping him to the trail in a twisted mass that soon stopped moving......

RM3c Fred 'Mediocre' Roker sniffed the night air, his wolf-man ears perked up and he snatched up his Springfield Rifle and dashed into the dark trees and underbrush towards the quartet of Japanese soldiers that were trying to flank them. In a half-crouch, he found that his new form moved quickly and quietly in these surroundings and in moments, with a few sniffs and twitches from his ears, he knew the enemy was only perhaps 30 yards away and moving towards his position, so he stopped and waited.....

The remaining trio of Japanese soldiers on the trail; two of them wounded, proved they still were a threat to take seriously as they cut loose a volley of rounds from their Arisaka rifles and one of them managed to hit poor Bluejack Smith high in the chest, dropping him down next to his fellow Sailor, the wounded Jones, staring sightlessly up into the night sky. "No! SMITTY!"; Jones cried and in his wounded state, he attempted to return the favor, but the shot from his Springfield Rifle zipped into the dark jungle night without hitting any of the 3 Japanese soldiers still firing his way....

SGT Acme cursed as he saw poor Smith get killed, but grunted in satisfaction as Wade dropped the LMG bearer. Roker suddenly moved off to the left, deeper into the jungle and the veteran marine could do little except shake his head in annoyance and take aim at the same soldier he wounded last time. Remembering the training at the range from a dozen years in the Corps, he took a breath, held it, looked down the sights, let go the breath and squeezed the trigger. His 1903 kicked back into his shoulder and the same wounded Soldier he hit last time took another heavy thirty aught-siz slug from his rifle, this time in the head, and he was most DEFINITELY not getting back into the fight this time...

The Air Corps maintenance guys, Higgins and Hoskins, tentatively poked their heads up and were relieved to see the Japanese solider spraying lead their way had been eliminated. Picking up their rifles, they took aim at the last pair of Soldiers they could see.....

OOC: Okay, 2 enemies left on the trail: J1 (wounded), J3 (fine); both armed with Arisaka bolt-action rifles. Marvin has 2 rounds left in his weapon's magazine; Wade has 35 rounds left in his drum. Smith and Henry are KIA, Jones is Wounded; Hoskins and Higgins are fine and no longer suppressed.

Off to the left in the thick of the jungle Roker is awaiting the 'other' 4 Japanese soldiers who are perhaps 30 yards away and moving closer and who he's PRETTY sure has no idea he's there. He has 4 rounds remaining in his Rifle's magazine and note he also has only 1 more 'free' round of his Power being active.

If anybody has any questions/concerns, please let me know.

Night of 24-25 January, 1942; 'The Points', South West Coast of the Bataan Pennisula on the island of Luzon, Philippines

'Fight Two: I.E. Gurung, Teddy and Dutch's squad'

PFC Teddy Gomez, having made a daring move to get within 15 yards of the quartet of remaining Japanese soldiers, popped up and let fly with a pair of shells from his Trench Gun. The first blast of buckshot missed its target while the second caught the solider right in the chest, knocking him to the ground.....and never to rise again. One of the soldiers returned fire on him with his Arisaka Rifle, causing a 6.5mm bullet to tear a burn trail across Teddy's left arm*; though it stung for a moment, it didn't seem to have any major affect on the young Marine....

The other 3 Japanese soldiers also chose targets and cut loose shots from their weapons; one of them causing a round to zip past 'Dutch' Van-Horn's ear close enough to sound like an angry hornet, but just missing, while another managed to end TSGT Blythe's luck by putting a round right into the veteran NCO's heart. Without a sound, the Air Corps Tech Sergeant fell forward on his face, gone from this world in the blink of an eye....

1st LT Williams, having staggered to his feet and clutching his wound, fired a shot from his Revolver that more by luck than aim managed to hit one of the Japanese soldiers in the hip, causing his to yell out in pain. That yell was short-lived as Bluejacket Johannsen put a round into his chest from his Springfield and one more threat was neutralized....

Charlie 'Dutch' Van Horn took aim at one of the two remaining Japanese soldiers and he fired a round from his BAR that JUST missed his target making the big, Pennsylvania farm-boy curse in annoyance....

Rifleman Gurung, still revealing in the feeling of power that was washing over him, rushed down towards one of the pair of remaining soldiers and he slashed out with his glowing purple blade of energy making his Japanese opponent drop flat to the ground in terror and saving his skin for a brief moment. Then the soldier got to one knee, trying to bring his Arisaka around to face this new threat when the Gurkha in front of him launched a back hand follow-up swing and this slash cut deeply thru the man's arm, ribs and chest....and he fell messily to the ground.....

*OOC: There is 1 remaining Japanese solider (armed with an Arisaka Rifle and he is not wounded). Of the U.S. NPCs: TSGT Blythe and Bluejackets Micheals and Krakowski are KIA; Air Corps 1st LT Williams is wounded. Teddy has 3 shells left in his shotgun, Dutch has 16 rounds in his BAR's clip; Gurung has 4 rounds left with his 'blade' before he has to worry about staying 'powered up'. Let me know if anyone has any questions.

Wade will try again to get closer to the two soldiers on the trail only pushing closer another 10 yards and then firing. (j1 & j3)

Dutch
Even as Gurung charged, Charlie squeezed off a round at the remaining Nip. For a second, inexplicably, he remembered his first time bagging a buck. Only 4 points, but Gramps had bragged about him for weeks after.

Teddy

Afraid that he won't be able to get a clear shot on the last remaining soldier Teddy holds back from firing, letting Gurung get in close to his target. Instead he'll stay in cover and fully reload his trench gun.

Or as much as can be loaded in a turn!

SGT Acme

Marvin calls out yet again. "Let them have it boys! Give Mac some cover!" He walks the walk and fires a shot off at the unbloodied enemy. "Where'd the rest of them go?!"

Roker waits and lurks. If he can hide in the brush until one of the enemy soldiers is almost right on top of him, perhaps he can quietly rip the soldier's throat out before the others know what's happening.

Night of 24-25 January, 1942; 'The Points', South West Coast of the Bataan Pennisula on the island of Luzon, Philippines

'Fight One: I.E. SGT Acme's squad'

SGT Acme yells out for the wounded Bluejacket Smith and the two Air Corps survivors Haskins and Higgins to "let 'em have it!"; meaning the 2 remaining Japanese soldiers on the trail and the trio responded, each firing with their Springfield Rifles and one of the Air Corps guys managed to drop the wounded Japanese rifleman...

PFC Wade MacGyver charges forward to close the distance and cuts loose a 5 round burst as he does so, cursing loudly as his weapon abruptly jams AND the Marine realizes that his burst is high and to the right of target. The healthy Japanese soldier turns his Arisaka rifle towards Wade, takes careful aim and then collapses in a heap as a heavy, .30-06 round fired from SGT Marvin Acme's rifle tears through his chest and ends any threat posed by him forever....

After firing his shot, Marvin hears something weird in the brush off to his left and slightly behind him and whirling around, he THINKS he sees several dark silhouettes maybe 30 yards away in the thick foliage and strange grunts and sounds of a struggle coming from that direction.....

RM3c Fred Roker, in his new Wolf-man form, stalked the quartet of Japanese soldiers and soon they came into sight, all of them carrying the by now familiar long barreled and long bayonet attached Arisaka rifles in their hands. They clearly did NOT know Roker was there, so as they passed by his position, he suddenly reached up with a clawed hand and messily tore out the throat of the last one in the formation, hurling the corpse off into the trees AWAY from where he was, causing the trio of remaining Japanese soldiers to suddenly talk in shock and surprise as they whirled around, wondering what had happened to their companion.

Also, Fred suddenly felt strange, he could FEEL his body wanting to revert to its non wolf-man state and sweat started to break out along his brow as he KNEW this would probably leave him a bit tired and might leave him vulnerable if the Japanese soldiers find him during the change**.....

OOC: Okay, so the situation is this: The 2 Japanese soldiers on the trail are both KIA, leaving as the only foes still standing the 3 Japanese soldiers in the trees that Fred can 'see/smell/hear' (Fred is within 10 feet of them) and that Marvin just heard sounds coming from them (he's 30 yards from them)....Wade knew there was a patrol of 4 Japanese soldiers that went into the woods on a flanking missions, but he lost track of them in the fighting. Wade and the surviving NPCs (Jones the wounded Bluejacket and the 2 Air Corps guys: Haskins and Higgins) are approximately 50 yards from where the sounds are coming from, not that they know this.

Acme has 1 round remaining in his Rifle (he can take 1 round to chamber this round and use a 5 round stripper clip to refill the magazine. Wade has 30 rounds remaining in his Thompson's Drum, but the weapon is jammed. He can take a round and try a TECH/Equipment Repair roll (Wade has 3D+1 for this skill) to beat a Difficulty number of 10 to clear the jam or he can take other actions as he chooses.

Roker has a decision to make. The 3 rounds his Power operates after activation "for free" are over, so if wants to remain in his Shape-changed form he has to try to 'Maintain the Power', which means rolling his newly gained Willpower Skill (he has 1D in it) and deciding if he wants to use his Willpower Points (he has 6 currently) to try and beat a Difficulty number of 15 (due to his Talent being a Major Power). Now obviously, the best score Fred can get in such a situation is a 12 (rolls a 6 and adds all 6 WPs); but he CAN use his Luck Point. If he does so, he now rolls a Willpower skill of 4D (and can choose to add 1-6 WPs if he likes...BEFORE the roll is made...or choose not to add any of them at all).....and for this round, all of his skills (though NOT his Talent Powers) are increased by 3D for one round. If he makes the roll (i.e. he spends the Luck point and the roll succeeds), the FOLLOWING round to maintain the Power, Roker would have to beat a Difficulty number of 17. (Obviously, he only has 1 Luck Point, so this would be impossible; but just pointing it out)

If he fails the roll, he immediately reverts back to 'human' form and any actions taken that round will be at -1D due to stress and exhaustion. (I.e. it's like a 'crash' after an adrenaline fueled few moments)

Night of 24-25 January, 1942; 'The Points', South West Coast of the Bataan Pennisula on the island of Luzon, Philippines

Fight Two: I.E. Gurung, Teddy and Dutch's squad'

In another section of the jagged Philippine coastal area known as 'The Points', a skirmish between a squad of American military members and a squad of Imperial Japanese Army soldiers came to an end....

PFC Teddy Gomez dropped down and quickly loaded 3 more shells into his 12 gauge 'Trench gun' to fully reload it and when he cautiously took a look at the beach, he saw that the last threat had been neutralized....

CPL Charlie 'Dutch' Van Horn took careful aim with his Browning Automatic Rifle at the last Japanese soldier on the beach and squeezed the trigger, putting a heavy round straight into the soldier's mid section, causing him to fold up and drop stiffly to the beach. After a few herky-jerky movements, he stopped moving forever...

RFL Gurung rushed the last Japanese soldier he could see on the beach, ready to slice him to pieces with his Energy 'Blade'; but with the crack of a Rifle round, the enemy soldier collapsed forward and quickly no longer became a threat to anyone. Taking a deep breath, the Gurkha soldier took a long look around and after a few moments, he could feel his skin seem to return to normal after being hard and scaly and his 'Blade' was no longer in his hand or indeed, ANYWHERE....

The sudden stillness on the beach was broken by the coughing, pain-filled voice of 1st LT Williams croaking out; "Well done fellas, well done. Johanssen.....come here and give me a hand will ya?", he asks while clumsily holstering his revolver and calling for the surviving bluejacket to come over and help him walk, which the sailor does. "Well...that was some fine shooting boys....pity about Blythe, Krakowski and Michaels.....and exactly WHEN were you gonna tell us you could do THAT Gurung?" he asks with wonder obvious in his pain-racked voice....

*OOC: No more threats on the beach, Teddy's Shotgun is fully loaded, Van Horn has 15 rounds left in his BAR's clip; Gurung's Talent Powers slowly and easily 'fade away'.

Wade heads for cover and tries to unjam his gun. If he is unable to clear the jam he will try to stay under cover and make way to the downed enemy and take one of their guns for the time being and sling his over his shoulder out of the way.

Teddy slowly emerged from his cover once he saw the coast was clear, giving one final scan of the area for more enemy troops he returns to the Lieutenant to check on him and the others. "Jeez louise, I never thought I'd ever get to see a bonafide Talent in person, you were really amazing Gurung! How'd you do it!? Realizing that he's gushing Teddy tries to reign himself in, embarrased, "Ah hehehe sorry, I'll go try to find a medkit for the Lieutenant."
