EPILOGUE: The Burial Lair of Koboldi-Karn

#1 Post by Norjax »

...

Apprehensive about the mist tentacles making a return, you scampered away from the floor grate and returned to the throne room. Drained of vitality, Anne needed help moving through the corridors and rooms of the dungeon (she will not heal for several days).

Having acquired eight bronze keys, you collectively returned to the southern chamber behind the mummy throne. After inspecting the ‘spider chest’ with additional scrutiny, it was decided to insert the eight bronze keys into each metal spider leg’s lock mechanism. The keys rotated barrel mechanisms that latched the legs to the granite cover of the sarcophagus. Once unlocked, the legs spread open and allowed free access to the cover. Using your combined strength, you lifted the cover, slid it over and let it crash to the floor.

Inside the stone tub were seven plain porcelain containers sealed with crude gold plugs. You chose to bust the containers and exposed the contents. The contents were carefully spread out on the floor of the chamber:

  • 300sp, 500cp, (2) 15gp gems and (3) potions; Healing, Human Control and Climbing.

The (7) gold plugs are worth 5gp each.

--

Backtracking into other rooms, you removed the silver orbs (5gp ea.) from the arm rests of the wooden throne and carefully removed the silver inlaying (15gp total value) from the chair’s surface. A silver chain with polished agate (3gp) was found around one of the mummies on the floor.

--

The trip out of the burial lair was uneventful. You took time to recover the bodies of your companions who fell victim to the dungeon’s traps and creatures.

Other treasure acquired:

  • (32) polished black stones (2sp ea.) from the hollow Muk-Karnu totem
    (24) clear semi-precious stones (1sp ea.) from Spider constellation carving
    (4) colored semi-precious stones (4sp ea.) from Spider constellation carving

    (1) Glowing Orb (Einstein) enchanted with Continual Light (15gp)

    (4) Ornamental bronze spears (2sp ea.)
    (4) Ornamental bronze short swords (1gp ea.)
    (4) Ornamental bronze axes (5sp ea.)

    (6) green gems (5gp ea.) from the granite statue of Muk-Karnu

--

Like a legendary tale of yore, you exited the tunnel just as the sun broke through an overcast sky. No longer mere village peasants, each of you realized that life here would no longer satisfy your needs. Fate has chosen a new life path, determined by your abilities and experiences in the burial lair.

  • Zeek, the Corn Farmer. With a 12 STR and a 14 STA, he is pathed for a Warrior
Anne, the Rice Farmer. With a 13 PER, she is pathed for a Cleric
Einstein, the Gambler. With a 13 AGL, he is pathed for a Thief
Arya, the Elven Falconer. Pathed as an Elf
Betty, the Halfling Gypsy. Pathed as a Halfling
Tony, the Minstrel. With a 14 AGL, he is pathed for a Thief

Here ends the Burial Lair of Koboldi-Karn.
