As the sha'ir enters the room, he spots movement on the ceiling. With giant spiders dropping from above, he shouts for help. H..hey! Spiders! Help! Jafar- Burning Hands! Go! As he calls for assistance, he waves the Rod of Smiting at the nearest spider.

1st Level Wizard Spell (70%): [1d100] = 95; Search Time (rounds): [1d6+1] = 4+1 = 5; Delay (if rolled 00): [1d10] = 2
Jafar will return in five rounds but is unable to find the spell.
Rod of Smiting (20): [1d20+3] = 9+3 = 12; Damage: [1d8+3] = 2+3 = 5; vs Constructs/ Living Idols: [2d8+6] = 7+6 = 13

as I understand it the rod wont do anything to non-constructs.

It does more damage to constructs, but it's still a weapon. I just rolled poorly on the to hit roll.

Anyone that enters the Room Benham is in sees 3 giant spiders descend from the ceiling.

Anuzal attacks the the closest spider as they drop from the ceiling.

Summary: 3 Giant spiders drop down on Benham, Asad and Anuzal come to aid him. Giant Spider 1 bit itself and is stunned for 1 round. Everyone else can act but stayed back. Anuzal hit Giant Spider 2, Giant Spider 3 is unscathed.

Emma hearing the commotion, has her jambaya at the ready and begins going through her spells mentally trying to think of one that might help and coming up empty handed for now. Most would probably put her companions at more of a disadvantage than the spiders. Fall back to this side of the door! Maybe only one at a time will be able to come through!

He seconds Emma's suggestion. "Yes! Back out into the hall!" He spots the door to the north and wonders if there is a way around to flank the spiders.

"How about the north door? Maybe it loops around." Dubb moves up to the north door but hesitates at opening it. "Where are the Chimeras? Behind this door?"

Anuzal- Hearing Dubb make the call to back out. I will go out last! He begins to back out after the others. He then gets a idea. Any one got a flask of lamp oil? Toss it in the doorway after I'm thru! Then lite it!

Emma stays back and shouts for everyone to fall back into the hall with the gold piles.
Ishaq stays back guarding Emma.
Abrex appears to have wandered off.

Summary: Giant Spider 1 is minorly injured and stunned for 1 round and acts next round. Dubb and Emma stay back but shout to the others to fallback. Giant Spider 2 is moderately injured, Giant Spider 3 is still unscathed.

Asad shrugs off the spider attack and spits in the eye(s) of the spider! "Take that poison, foul creature!"

He will back out of the room (parrying as he goes if he can) to allow the others a chance for battle and glory!
