Chief
The Third Officer, and thus officer over Third Shift, is merely known as "Chief". Mid-50's male, darker skin and more salt than pepper grey hair. It'll take the average person about two seconds to put together the smell, blood-shot eyes, and surly attitude. Chief is a morose drunk when on duty and locked up in his berth drunk when off duty. If you have a spacer background, you recognize Chief speaks like a long term, not associated with any planet, spacer.

Mustered out after the peace treaty with Burach was established with some cash, a scout ship 'share' which he has invested most of his free money in and his personal weapons taken from his time in the military during the war. A cutlass and plasma pistol.
He has been with the present Captain for the three years since the war but the ship is a recent acquisition.

Captain Dame Youvonne Gilmore, age 22, female. Wavy light black neck length hair, medium tone skin.
Captain Gilmore is insulated from the crew by the Marines, and by the XO and First Officer. She seems overwhelmed by ship command, but seems to know her limitations. However, that leaves her somewhat captive to the officers.

Force Commander Sir Cochran, mid-20's. Tall, wavy brown hair, styled, and fashionable moustache. Tailored uniform.
Force Commander Cochran is the XO, and well aware of his status. His uniforms are tailored to perfection, and his service badges and awards are astounding, for such a young, but senior officer. His commando insignia is predominant, his ability to remember crew names is somewhat lacking. The Marines are drilled constantly and exist in a world of their own.
While he wears a wedding band, it is widely assumed that he provides "personal safety" for the young captain.

Tall and thin with floppy fair hair and a neatly trimmed mustache, immaculately dressed in a tailored uniform.
He has a beautifully made officers foil and a personal sidearm to match, from the best craftsmen, with iridescent engraved finish and mother-of-pearl grips.
A respectable Birach family and an expensive education have not stopped this officer being a terrific bounder. Family connections got him a post in Navy to keep him away from polite society ( Too many ladies with tarnished reputations and men induced to invest in dubious schemes ).
His main interest in the Service is a smart uniform and a quiet job behind a console, with plenty of spare time to work any angles ( or curves ) that present themselves.
A careful study of Navy regulations has allowed him to avoid many troubles, and stow away a few useful loopholes for later use.
While he has no desire for a position of responsibility he has a keen appreciation of the opportunities higher rank would provide. Promotion would be nice, but not command.
It is common knowledge that Leslie has a stock of decent booze, and occasionally hosts a cocktail party.
Leslie would consider it a poor show if there wasn't a pink gin or Martini to finish a shift, or a glass of port before bed, and the idea of being unable to offer a glass or two of champagne ( with a splash of brandy in it perhaps ) to a pretty young thing.. unthinkable.

Near the end of his 2nd term, Seiji was dismissed from service for stealing from passengers. Somehow through his shenanigans, he was able to hide 20 kcr of his illicit gains before he was sent to the ship in disgrace.

TERM 0 (age 14-17) [16-19 years ago]
Lawrence was born and raised among a group of Religious Isolationists living off-the-grid in the mountain wilderness (known as the "Old Guard"). A raid against these "radical dissidents" by the former planetary government resulted in his capture by Government Troops, treatment for irreparable lung damage caused by the gas attack, and transfer to a re-education center where Lawrence was given an official name of "Larry Clarke". A contact gained at that time saw potential in Larry's intelligence and dexterity and helped him apply to the Navy Academy.
TERM 1 (age 18) [15 years ago]
Larry Clarke was accepted to the Flight College with dreams of becoming a Pilot and escaping from Birach and its oppressive government, but his lack of formal education prevented him from completing his advanced instruction and his low endurance from lung damage rendered him unfit for the Regular Navy assignments. Larry Clarke was discharged from both Flight College and the Birach Navy after only one year.
TERM 1 (age 19-21) [12-14 years ago]
The "Old Guard" believe that life is a test and the Creator is watching how you handle your TEST, so Lawrence refused to accept defeat from the hands of hie enemies and remained determined to both become a Pilot and get off Biter. The Creator opened a door when Lawrence was welcomed aboard the crew of a short handed Free Trader on an Exploratory Trade mission that established a Route operating between Atreo, Birach and several independent worlds [Enlist=8+2]. During his first (short) term, there was a TEST when a RIVAL crew arrived in time to deliberately undercut prices and cost the ship a sale ... an action that Lawrence has neither forgotten nor forgiven and intends to one day exact justice for the treachery. A second TEST came when a "friendly" casino turned out to be cheating and Lawrence left port with the rest of the crew still owing Cr 1000 to the House. It is an unresolved civil matter. For the TEST of being part of a Starship Crew, Lawrence barely survived physically, but excelled in his duties as 4th Officer and easily passing the exam for 3rd Officer.
TERM 2 (age 22-25) [8-11 years ago]
Lawrence took a position on another ship with a Mail Contract and more guns (in hopes of improving his chances of survival) to try to gain his coveted Pilot skill, but spent most of his time in Engineering and playing cards with the Stewards to pass time. The Creator sent a TEST during a special Chartered trip during the final year of the term when a dangerous creature escaped from its crate in the cargo hold and injured a crewman. Upon arrival at the destination, the buyer attempted to renegotiate a better price using threat of violence, but Lawrence participated in the resulting shootout in which the crew prevailed ... Lawrence and the crew gained a good reputation among other spacers for "handling trouble". Lawrence passed his 2nd Officer Exam and left at the end of his contract for a Navigator position on another ship.
TERM 3 (age 26-29) [4-7 years ago]
Lawrence took the Navigator position on a Free Trader planning an Exploratory Trade mission to build up a regular Route in the coming years in hope that being on the Bridge might finally gain him his Pilot skill dream. The Captain had little interest in investing in a second pilot and tended to press Lawrence's Carousing skills into service of Brokering contracts among new contacts. Half way through the term, the Creator sent Lawrence his greatest TEST yet. An engineering mistake ruined a cargo of Machine Parts being delivered to Birach. Lawrence made a convenient scapegoat for the Captain, until the local media discovered that the "disaster" involved a Birach local spacer (Birach had few Spacers) and obtained a copy of the video from the accident that revealed what really happened. The framing of a Birach local by the powerful Atreo Government was a story that played well locally ... granting "Larry Clarke" instant local fame on Birach. Since the attention of the government of "The General" was the last thing that an "Old Guard" wanted, Lawrence simply disappeared from public view.
TERM 4 (age 30-33) [0-3 years ago]
Three years ago, there was a violent revolution and a desperate crisis that threatened the survival of Birach. Lawrence joined the Firsters (Religious Conservative Activists) in supporting the new Government and "Larry Clarke" returned to the Birach Planetary Navy to offer his help. As an experienced Merchant Spacer, they accepted, but as soon as the imminent crisis was over, he was reassigned to Shore Duty since Merchant is not Navy and granted the rank PO3 in recognition of his experience, but refusing to acknowledge a Merchant Commission (2nd Officer). Larry was a regular fixture around the Birach Navy Downport for the last three years where his ability to Carouse and Liaise, plus his broad general knowledge, allow him to interface between Crews and Support Staff and get the right people and equipment to the right location. Unfortunately, his career abruptly ended when a routine cold landed Larry in the infirmary and his routine "fit to return to duty" yielded the unexpected "permanently unfit for Space Duty" designation and an automatic and immediate "Medical Discharge" from the Birach Planetary Navy after only 3 years of his 4 year term (age 32).
The hand of the Creator was guiding Lawrence in this TEST and a visiting Officer was impressed by his performance and recommended "Larry Clarke" for a position on one of the "private ships" being funded by the new Birach Nobility. So Lawrence is finally in the Navy and assigned to a Navy ship (sort of) with one year to pass the TEST from the Creator and prove to the universe that the Old Guard belong in space.
