Just waiting on Computer +1 to finish his character and then we can start.

I'll give him a bit more time.

Yep, just make sure you get it the way you want, C+1.

But... hurry, also. :)

A couple of quick questions....

1. I've noticed no one in the party is carrying a Bow...(LOTS of slings though!). I have some extra money (about 20 gp); would it be possible for me to lend it to a character capable of using a Bow so that they could purchase one? (Assuming anyone is interested that is)

2. I didn't notice it at first....but apparently they didn't list a range for throwing warhammers in the Moldvay book. Are we to assume that we can't throw Hammers or that the range would be the same as that of Daggers and Hand Axes; i.e. 10/20/30? I sincerly hope the latter; as I bought 2 Hammers for the express purpose of having a heavier hitting missile weapon than my sling! :)

Also....we still need a Thief.......Computer; interested?

I was going to go with a cleric at first but am leaning towards a Dorf instead.

Doh! I checked and thought I saw that we had a thief.
If we don't, mine has stats for a thief if DM would allow me to remake him.

1) Yes, I'll allow a transfer of coinage for if someone wants to upgrade to a bow

2) Yes, I'll allow warhammers to be thrown, wit one caveat. They will suffer a -1 to hit. My reasoning is that they are weapons that aren't really weighted for proper throwing. So short range would be +0, med range -1, and long range -2.

I remember that this was how we house ruled throwing improvised weapons back in the day. Because throwing your sword was cool.

Alastor also has 10 gold he would be willing to to lend to someone for the purpose of purchasing a bow to better protect him (Alastor).

If we want two thieves, I am willing to change from halfling to accommodate.

Jofrid, newly apprenticed to more shadowy arts than his two handed sword, would gladly accept donations for a bow.
His thieve's tools, armor, and sword tapped him out (1 gp left) so:

crossbow (80/160/240) and 30 quarrels: 40 gp
shortbow (50/100/150), quiver, 20 arrows: 30 gp

I don't see any difference in the rate of fire.

Let me know how much we can put toward the bow weapon.

Oh, and can the thief get his unnotice striking from behind double damage with a missile?
The rules, page B10 just says unnoticed from behind . . .

No to the backstabbing with missiles. Hand held weapons only.

As Gamril sat in the tavern finishing his ale, he reached in his pocket to pay the barkeep to find that 7gp was missing from his left pocket.... he had remembered being bumped into earlier, but... but.. no -- there's no way that bumbling human in the leather could have gotten his hand in there! Sheepishly smiling at the large breasted beauty behind the bar (while she eyed him, trying to smile through her disgust) he muttered, "Misses, I'm gun' have to either put this on me tab, or wash some tankards -- I've been robbed!" Her half-smile melted to a look of rage as her high cheekbones became flush with red. As she bent down behind the counter, Gamril struggled to look over the bar to admire the sight, however she quickly came back up with a smelly bucket teaming with blow-flies with a brush in it and slammed it on the bar in front of him. She pointed through opened the back door. Gamril could see the outhouse in the distance through the door -- he shrugged and grabbed the pail. After saluting the barmaid, he shuffled (stumbling from the ale) towards the moonlit shed.

(Jofrid, you may have 7 of my gold if the DM allows.)

I am fine with that (especially after the nice bit of RP to go along with it. This has been entered into the "official events' that have occurred. Feel free to carry through next time you run into Jofrid. Even if Jofrid didn't steal the gold, Gamril can still think he did.)

The gold isn't going to help much where your going anyway, but a good crossbow might

I figure Slim and Jofrid probably came to an understanding.....what with Slim being a Cleric of a God of Thieves and Adventurers and Jofrid being a......'redistrbuter' of wealth.......Slim will give Jofrid an 'investment' to better look after his own and Slim's health and well-being; and in return Slim will do his best to look after Jofrid's spiritual and corporeal health.....:)

20gp for Jofrid.

Jofrid assures Slim that it is indeed a wise investment, and that together with a recent "loan" he obtained from a dwarf (and that, unknown to the dwarf will pay excellent dividends), he can purchase the crossbow he had his eye on to better protect both of their "interests."

How is ammunition being handled, will there be a chance to retrieve used bolts, they are expensive, 30 for 10 gold!
